Besides they're not feeling like a deep part of their identity (a.k.s Drake's music) is being taken away, because they're too young to have formed a connection with his music/theme yet.
The fact he has a mass of people shout „not like us“ now is diabolical and I love it. Especailly after performing it 6 times in a row live already. No mercy for drake rn XD
I was watching an interview with DJ Mustard, and he says that wearing the Blue Jay's hat was completely accidental. Kendrick noticed it as soon as Mustard got to the set and thought it was brilliant. So they kept it. lmao
@@MichaelRosasco Yes, I'm sure. I've worked in costuming in the past. This is a massive thing in regards to brand names and trademarks. Take a look at any movie antagonist and ask yourself if you see any logos or brands, vs the protagonists. You likely won't see any on the villain because they have to be pre-approved, and most brands don't want to be associated with negative connotations. Given all the allegations back and forth between Kendrick and Drake, regardless of if they are true, Kendrick/the production could have had legal trouble if the Blue Jays hadn't approved it.
Prince was a musician, Michael was an artist - Drake is neither. He is, however, talented, and we can't take that away from him as he's been entertaining us for over a decade.
I think Scru Face Jean said something about how Not Like Us could become the anthem of Juneteenth, the same way Alright became an anthem of hope against police brutality and oppression. Like, by linking this to big summer days like Juneteenth and Independence Day, Kendrick's making it hard for Drake to do the big summer pop tracks subsequent years as well; because people are going to remember this.
I’m 50, so I’ve seen every rap beef. This was the most beautiful rebuttal/checkmate of all time. To have Whitney dancing in the video, and to make sure everyone knows Dave Free directed it. Just the ultimate slap in the face rebuttal. You tried to cause rifts with my family and friends, and it didn’t work!! In your face.
@@lh8956 same here!! This takes me back to how Hip Hop & Rap felt in the '90's as a teen/young adult, right before the shift. I was also thinking of how seeing the level of unity in this video reminds me of the video"We're All In The Same Gang".
1. Owls are predators. (We hate predators) - 17 pushups - girls under 18 years old, Drake's prey. 2. Owls are nocturnal. Believe it or not 69% are active at night out of 250 species. (69 God, prey at night percentage) 3. Owls will feed on each other. (Ovo people have given KDot info) 4. Owls attack prey mostly at night when prey are at their weakest. (Ovo preying on young guys like Diddy and RKelly+ more) 5. The Northern Sotted Owl is endangered in British Columbia. (KDot is showing how Drake is fading away) 6. Owls caught in the daytime are easy to tame. (KDot brought things to light for us) The last shot of the owl reminds me of Taylor Swift's video "Look What You Made Me Do" when he stole the keys to her castle and locked her out. Is this a shout out to TSwift? Pac's ring! Predators need to caged/jailed/tamed. Kendrick Lamar in that last frame shot of that owl in a cage is an entire essay on how to bury your enemy within seconds.
@2:50 "you're late" may be a reference to "Men in Black", when Will Smith's character dominates the test given and is the one chosen for the job, after killing the "freaky girl" . Setting was all white room. He was told "you're late". Didn't matter. He was innovative and kicked ass!
Kendrick, on a level that people really need to understand. That door knocked. There's a reason behind that knock. Pure genius , this video dropped right when they had the all white party. When he's hitting the owl, he had white on. Precision
The juxtaposition of all these west coast moves and the Drake-imitating dance moves that Kendrick did when he was wearing the gray suit is mindblowing. Such a huge contrast in terms of style and another way that Kendrick shows that he's "not like us".
"Atomic Dog" (Parliament Funkadelic) reference with the dog breathing at the beginning of the video. Parliament Funkadelic is one of the 4 fathers of West Coast Music as whole. Kendrick is getting to the true foundation...to the roots! Good to see and hear. This is where I think Detroit (the origin of Parliament) and West Coast Music are intertwined.
@@nikkoa.3639 I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. Drake is AGING, you can see it all in his face, skin getting loose around the jaw. If he didn't have the cornrows, you'd think the man is 10 years older.
2:36 "Shave and a haircut, 2 bits!" There's history associated with this tune: "An early occurrence of the tune is from an 1899 Charles Hale minstrel song, At a Darktown Cakewalk."
also a reference to when drake said that he's a wife beater, so there you go, whitney wearing a wife beater/tank top, and also smiling while dancing with kdot
@@MrDeadmanwalking44 What point are you making? It literally says it at the bottom of the video where Kdot was beating the Owl Piñata so of course other reactors are going to mention it. Are you dense?
The biggest Drake Stan argument was that Kendrick wasn't addressing the shots at him. This was the big reveal that the hero was bullet proof all along. And pulling the slide at the start to show he was still loaded. Drake threatened a nuclear power with a box cutter.
Never had a diss track gotten much radio play let alone played everywhere just to shit on a rapper. It is the best diss track ever made, because it is loaded with things you still catch after watching again and again, but it also sounds amazing. The best Drake ever did was get people to boo Meek Mill songs when played in the club for a few months. This song will be played til Drake dies, I almost feel sorry for him. Then I remember, He Not Like Us DESERVED!
I noticed a few things I haven't heard people mention with Kendrick trolling is Canadians do say "Ay" at the end of a their sentences and he has a few bars in there where he says that at end of his bars. Also during the push-up cell block 1 portion when he puts his fingers up and does that little L finger dance that's a troll from Drake and a young girl doing a dance like that. Also when Kendrick is around all the shipping boxes and he takes his hand by his eye and does that little dance move that's a Drake troll as well cuz Drake did that too. The subtle trolls are amazing as well as the screaming ones.. It's so meticulous and so wild how he just put everything into this song made it a hit it's a summer hit the video is amazing and just the details I mean it's crazy... and the song doesn't get old even if you're like no I don't feel like hearing that again the minute you hear it you're back in it sucks you're back in it's so good.
I saw this comment in the original video but noticed how many time Kendrick did the push up. If i counted correctly he did exactly 17 push ups before stopping and standing up

The owl being free when shown it's zoomed in perspective, then shown that it was actually caged when switch to KDot's wide shot perspective is such a cool detail.
Kendrick is Jigsaw.......look at how he moved throughout the beef diss. And at the end of every Saw movie, Jigsaw always stares at his wins(the owl in the cage).

@@RONJAE212003 it's wild to think that literal children are rejecting his music yet we got grown ass men still dickriding Drake
That speaks volumes
@@Anonymys43 ABSOLUTELY, I guess it's bc kids say things how it is... They are truly unbiased and they're able to identify the real danger discussed in the whole conversation (Drake being a predator and probably trafficking women).

So they kept it. lmao
What's extra great about this is that the Blue Jays would have had to give permission to be in the video due to it being trademarked.
@@pestobeeare you sure about that? Pretty sure that isnt the case

This right here, ladies and gentlemen, is the difference between an artist and a musician
Not even a musician, just a singer.
@@IsaiPRNot even a singer, an ACTOR.
@@aqustksC'mon now! Acting is art...😅
Prince was a musician, Michael was an artist - Drake is neither. He is, however, talented, and we can't take that away from him as he's been entertaining us for over a decade.
Not even an Actor, a Plagiarist.
Music video has been live for a little over 24 hours. 20mil views. K-dot callin him a colonizer on independence day goes crazy
Whitney hitting that dance in a wifebeater is crazy🔥
(69 God, prey at night percentage)
3. Owls will feed on each other. (Ovo people have given KDot info)
4. Owls attack prey mostly at night when prey are at their weakest. (Ovo preying on young guys like Diddy and RKelly+ more)
5. The Northern Sotted Owl is endangered in British Columbia. (KDot is showing how Drake is fading away)
6. Owls caught in the daytime are easy to tame. (KDot brought things to light for us)
The last shot of the owl reminds me of Taylor Swift's video "Look What You Made Me Do" when he stole the keys to her castle and locked her out. Is this a shout out to TSwift? Pac's ring!
Predators need to caged/jailed/tamed.
Kendrick Lamar in that last frame shot of that owl in a cage is an entire essay on how to bury your enemy within seconds.

Miiiiiiight be a little bit of a reach but who even knows at this point

My take was…He in a suit= serious business, he is not playing around with allegations
@2:50 "you're late" may be a reference to "Men in Black", when Will Smith's character dominates the test given and is the one chosen for the job, after killing the "freaky girl" . Setting was all white room. He was told "you're late". Didn't matter. He was innovative and kicked ass!

My favorite small detail I read about this video: the owl piñata is empty. When it comes down to it, there's no actual substance in there.
Interesting how the owl doesn't see the cage but see Kendrick. Then from Kendrick 's perspective, the owl is caged 😂
