- Songs From The Shed is a channel devoted to musical collaboration with musicians from around the world.
Goodbye To Love was a hit for the Carpenters in 1972. Sung by the legendary Karen Carpenter and written by her brother Richard Carpenter and John Bettis, the song was initially refused airplay by some easy listening radio stations due to Tony Peluso's iconic fuzz guitar solo, with traditionalists accusing the Carpenters of going "hard rock".
The contrast between the sentimental theme and the rasping guitar solo was unique at the time and paved the way for what would later become known as the power ballad.

Love this! So beautiful
Absolutely lovely, well played to all. I’m loving this idea Jon.
Great, restrained playing all round. It would have been very easy to overcook those guitar parts, Jon! 🙂
