Careful what you wish. for. I'm well on the way to watching all 431 episodes. It was too late before I learned that 'The Bonanza Bug' has no known antedote.
Yes, but he interfered too much. You can't make someone do the right thing. Abigail was a smart woman to boost her husband's ego and get Hoss out of their direct management of their lives.
@@user-pd7il3xz5j well bro may be you are right .may be you are not. Just think how the guy reacts to that women. I know I sound bitter but I thought that it was a shame that people would rather watch movies than to hear the word of God spoken. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🥹🥹🥹🥹
There is no better place to worship your God than on his land. Then come in and watch your shows. Great family show which no longer exist. All there are now are reality Tv shows, or shows that show girls how to plaster their faces with so much paint because they want to be famous. The youngsters don’t treat people correctly anymore all they think of are themselves. We all need to bring back the family values that were around in the 60s & 70. When was the last time that families ate together.
I love how when Hoss gives someone a "talking to" how his brow gets all serious, his eyes pin point focus with no blinking, and only his mouth moves ... like a cartoon character. And his catch phrase, "Now you listen to me". Dan Blocker woulda been an interesting guy to meet. RIP Bonanaza peeps 🦋
Hoss was a gem of a bloke. Sort of friend that we all need. Pretty hard 2 find a friend of his caliber. All things work out 4good, 4 those of us who believe...
Wonderful. Eric/Hoss portrays the positives of a human for orhers. And ofcourse, the family, particularly, the father, Ben Cartwright, supports all the way.
Funny how life is so similar to Bonanza throwing all forms of challenges at you, and only one person such as the new wife, stands up and changes everything and brings a new light onto the whole scene, and happiness and cheer for the entire family.
18:55 back in those days, there was no internet, no TV (or smartphone) to amuse people --- so maybe they ended up actually talking, interacting, conversing more .... Well, reading books too
The music in this is absolutely outstanding. It weaves a light jazz touch early and through the entire episode as well as the usually Bonanza music threads.
The first episode to feature a light jazz version of Hoss's theme music. You know when an episode starts with Hoss's music it's going to be one of those feel good episodes where nobody dies.
I still can't believe that is Young and the Restless' "Catherine Chancellor". I suppose she has passed now, but my afternoon baby-sitter used to watch that show when I was a child and I can place her anywhere, young or old.
Just like in the 1800's, today you still can still find in the Bible where it says we should treat others like we would like to be treated ourselves. That's called The Golden Rule, and it was given by Christ Himself.
He just needed to grow a backbone and his wife had to remind him that quitting was not an option. He had given up on life and became a drunk. Even though he married the woman with a child he still had given up on life. He needed that woman to remind him of his potential. A good wife can build a good man. A bad, complaining, whining wife can destroy a man, his dreams, and his family's future.
I feel your pain Hoss. I like animals they're a lot better than people usually It's not that I don't like helping people I do but sometimes I really just don't understand them
Oh, poor Hoss ......... Well, you know, maybe later on, they could've gotten desperate for help --- and hopefully they would've accepted help from someone, whether it be Hoss or not.
What in ingrate. Hoss didn't force them to leech off of him one little bit. Nothing worse than in ingrate like that and to make matters worse instead of thanking him she actually attacks him after all his good intentions and things he did for them.
I love how the episode starts and ends with a new version of Hoss's theme music, then at 6:00 we get the traditional version. I haven't been taking note, but do any of the other Cartwrights have their own theme music?
When I watch Ben talk to three grown men like they were kids I remember my 18 birthday. Told my pa, from now on I will decide my destiny. Working on a time machine to tell Ben😡. By the way, Pa didn't kick my rear end. Back to Bonanza.
@Paul KryderNow u know that I know that but he needs one that will live, I wish they had let the show meet its end with him having a wife that lived and showed him happy.
Ben didn't have time for a wife after he left the Ponderosa and became the commander of a battlestar. All he had to do was change his name from Cartwright to Adama.
Alcoholics are still people and not without merits. Sometimes that's all it takes, people who refuse to quit in them and a fortunate thibg like a living family.
says in the beginning...she sent her $ to the man she was suppose to marry and he ditched her b4 she and her daughter arrived. So she was stranded with her young daughter and no funds. She was game to give this man a chance.
My grandmother's story- she was viewed from afar in a carriage with her college singing coach. She was singing Redwing, and even painted scenes from the song later in life. About a week later she was 20 or 30 miles away at an aunt and uncle house, when a young drover came to super. He was the cowboy on horse back that she later painted watching the Indian maiden, Redwing, near a creek. Now after supper., the relatives said maybe Ella's Noma would like to play the piano for us- so she played and sang some, including the song Redwing. Then they said maybe the young people would like to take a turn out on the front porch to talk and watch the stars and moon. The drover said he had to go out with a cattle drive about a week, but when he came back would she consider marrying him. And they did. He became a mine foreman after a spell with a nice cabin provided. They had 6 kids, all but 1 boys. He could play any instrument and taught the children, but died of black lung when my mom was 12. She never remarried. Just kept the resultant families close while alive and taught what good things she could. Died in '71. So it seems weird, but sometimes these things work out very well...and I have one child named Redwing, btw, named on a whim, but changed it to Lakota Sioux (which I am not). But it's a pretty name. (That ine reversed it back to Redwing, and never even bothered by the biker besmirching of the good ole name. People said why did you do that to your child? Others got named normal names. IDK, but that one is the most successful. 😁 Another the most like Hoss, after a rough patchwork through inba decade, and the most good hearted.

They don't make shows like these anymore. Great lessons in life!
My favorite is Ben, then Hoss, then Hop Sing, Adam and L.J.

Yes she looks the same, just younger. But her voice sounds so different
Hoss is my hero.
I wish they had more storylines with them in it❤

The Chaparral boys sure did turn up a lot on the Ponderosa!
Hoss won't ever give up on a friend and won't let them give up on themselves..my kind of guy, been there!..
Yes but I do not like the fact that he forced his friend Wade upon that woman all most forced that marriage. I would ran the other way

11:14. Hoss uses psychology ! ?! And , Hoss has a kind heart
