    Few photoshop tips for those who haven't used it before. Duplicate your layer so you have a copy of your original (not destructive editing ftw) you can hit CMD/Ctrl+J to do that. You can edit on that layer, or you can create a new layer (Cmd/Ctrl+shift+N) and then make sure the "Sample All Layers" option is checked at the top of the screen. That way you can erase things from your photo, but you're using a new empty layer. It's pretty helpful.
    Also when using your spot healing brush, if you hold shift while you drag, it will stay in a straight line going up and down/side to side. if you have to go at an angle, click while holding shift at your start point, and then click at your end point.
    Finally Cmd/ctrl + 0 will make an image fit your screen

    As someone who fishes a lot, if you use a light fluorocarbon line (2-6lb) it will be very invisible in certain lightning.

      he means you typed "lightNing" instead of "lighting". With an 'n' it signifies the light of a thunder, whereas without it, it signifies light as illumination :)

    This is a great skill that everyone who deals with images absolutely should know. The hardest bit is parting with the substantial sum of money Adobe charges for the Lightroom and Photoshop tools. Thanks, Peter. You are fast becoming my favorite TH-cam vlogger.

    Hi Peter, here's a Photoshop trick for you, in case you don't know it. Select the Spot Healing Brush, click it once at the top of the string, Shift+Click at the bottom of the string and Photoshop draws a perfect straight line between the 2 points you clicked on, removing most of the string in 2 clicks. Keep the brush size as small as possible, just a little wider than the string. This click and shift+click action works with all the brush tools including paint brushes and eraser, etc.
    Love your videos btw.

      You can do it pretty much the same way; track the fishing line, mask it out. Either cleanplate it or use the new content-aware fill function.
      Or, put a 3d-render into the scene. Depending on the scene etc that might be less work.
      Easiest if the camera is on a tripod, but possible with a moving camera.

      -- reddit is awesome for that...try the subreddit Photoshop battle. A lot of youtubers do it, you can compete with other people with it too

    • @PeterMcKinnon
      @PeterMcKinnon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Absolutely! Theres SO MANY ways to do this. So many GREAt ways, too! This is just the way I do it if I want to control most aspects of the photo.

      Orio Cohen for sure but keep in mind that lighting is most important. That will take more Photoshop work believe it or not, well in this situation anyway

    • @joshmdmd
      @joshmdmd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      by doing it this way you get the same direction and temperature of the light.
      CC Peter, you added artifacts to the image and then corrected them with the band aid tool. drop in your noise reduction and lens corrections before taking the photo into photoshop and clarity after photoshop (or as a layer edit).

    Sweet video! If anyone watching this needs to paint away a straight line and wants a shortcut, you can also click the beginning, hold shift, then click the end of the line you want to paint and it will connect the two!
