- A short wander around Wakefield followed by some fantastic fish, chips and mushy peas at George a Green Fisheries. The fish & chips are fried in beef dripping.
Traditional northern food cooked the old fashioned way.

Beef dripping fried, too...All of Yorkshire still keeps the legend going...Fry em in dripping, put the mushy peas on top of the chips and rest the cod on top...What a scran that is. For a Scouse, or a manc, just drive East on the M62 until you enter the White Rose county, then hit any chippy..they are all better than anything on our west coast because they stay traditional and never gave up on beef dripping. Why do you think the frites in Belgium, France and Holland taste better than any chippy in the Sarf of England? Beef dripping fryers, the lot of them

Never had anything Green with my Fish & Chips. Still looked Delicious 👍 (US)
Dried marrowfat peas that are soaked for 12 hours then boiled for 20 minutes until they become Mushy Peas. They’re delicious. Also nice with a splash of mint sauce.
That's the chippy for my tea decided for tonight then!

When the batter's that dark you can guarantee the fish is overdone, and sure enough it was.
I’ve found it’s usual to get dark batter when it’s cooked in dripping rather than oil.
Why don’t you just tip it on to the paper ?
