I like to use mcfarlane like diamond select for the mega figs in 1/12 scale. For example, I used swamp thing with my 1/12 scale figures. He's also emerged as a new player in the vehicle department. Pound for pound on the figures, a lot of hit and miss. Great new series, Tony. KEEP POUNDING FAM
I totally agree, I have a whole episode planned just for his vehicles lol its annoying because if just got the scaling right do as WWE does with Mattel and just give some more articulation and this line could be a home run i really believe that . thank you for the words of encouragement def more to come!
Why is everyone afraid to say "Todd's figures suck. He has a few winners now and then, but for the most part, they are mostly inaccurate depictions of the characters he does.
There are only a couple McFarlane figs that I haven’t gotten on the cheap and I’ve left good characters on the clearance shelf because of the articulation and the scale.
There’s a lot of room for improvement there and idk why he still hasn’t figured it out. Brother I agree I’ve done the same with some Batman’s that looked cool but I don’t want a glorified statue
His figures also need to improve the forward chest and stomach crunch. Also, for the upcoming Gold label issue 1000 Superman, Todd didn't bother to improve the single jointed elbows.
Great review. Random "artistic license" and rotten articulation are my two gripes on a lot of McToddy figs. And they don't care, because no amout of feedback has changed anything in either of those areas.
I bought my first modern McFarlane figure (Starfire) recently and when I opened it up she has two left fists, for a company making toys for 30 - 40 years that's terrible quality control. The only other problem is the company's insistence on making repaints that are exclusive, expensive, impossible to get and depict different characters.
my biggest gripe with the DC McFarlane stuff is the paint and the scale. The sculpts are too detailed for some of the sloppy paint applications to go unnoticed. The scale of the DC figures are so huge, which is weird because the anime figures they do are in six inch! So the ones that need to be in 6" scale aren't, and the ones that don't have to be are. I think the articulation is great for sculpt.
My guess is that McFarlane got a license to do 7" scale figures. Someone else probably got the 6" license, but hasn't been enough with it for us collectors to notice.
mcfarlae toys does great sculpts, are relatively affordable, not so good articulation, inconsistent proportions, and the quality of plastic is not as cheap feeling as marvel legends but can make the figure quite stiff
Mcfarlane figures are the only toy at discount that I have ever returned, even at five dollars. The only Mcfarlane I have purchased were at a heavy discount.
My issue with Mcfarlane is he is dropping waaay to much items in a calendar year, also their selection on what characters will be a general release and which one will be exclusive. They have a very bad way of picking character's. Also the Platinum thing also. Really when you look at it is a lot of issues with Mcfarlane, I noticed it during the 89 batmobile release to date. The Wonder Woman release, Flash movie Batmobile. Sorry if I offend any Todd supporters.
I have an unfortunate amount of mcfigs. The articulation is generally terrible. The Dkr Batman has thigh swivel so he could ride the baf horse. I think that batfleck was reused from the previous release that had a bike to ride, the lack of thigh cuts and and their ab joint blows. Scale is the biggest flaw with his figs. I stopped buying his figs a while back. I'd rather have 1 mafex vs 3 McFigs.
For 45 quid I got a badass looking Joker and the version of Batman I like. The two of them posed together look pretty good. I would have to spend about 200 quid to upgrade. Except I quite like the grim and demented demeanor of the figs. The figure stands are really useful. They have no movement around the abs and the Batman ankles are pretty piss poor lol. Refreshing to hear someone speak freely about it. 👍🤘
The figures you mentioned that have thigh swivel were made to ride horses or motorcycles. That's the reason they have the swivel on thighs. He doesn't like to break the sculpt from what I've heard and a lot of people agree with him, myself included. The only figures I consider buying are McFarlane figures. They usually need some fixes and tweakings, if you have a opportunity watch Bones or Super Heumann videos on BvS Batfleck, the first figure they release from Batman vs Superman. You can improve their look in some cases, also the articulation, and, to me, in most cases, they look fine as they are.
I totally get that, i feel like why can my rebirth bats ride a motorcycle? I just felt if all his figures had the swivel it would make posing and swapping vehicles for figures easier i just don't like that some have it for that reason then they all should have it then especially since so many vehicles are coming now
@@LegendSeries I get it, when I see Bones reviweing McFarlane's figures, I sometimes see him doing 360 on the thighs and I never tried that, I think at an angle the thighs rotate more, maybe you can try that. I can't really say now, if I remember, I'll check it out and leave a reply here.
Have 15 or so McFarlane figures. I like them, well enough. I think articulation suffers a bit because he came from making statues, so the joint always seem like they are retroactuvely put in the design. That is also probably why his texture game is on point. I think competition is so low, there is little to drive innovation.
The art of making articulated figures that look great in a wide range of poses takes a while for toy companies to get the hang of. The early Iron Man figures by SH Figuarts didn't look movie-accurate at all. The first Batman figure by Mafex looked OK in a neutral pose but goofy otherwise (it also fell apart easily). Only after a few years did they put out the kind of toys that got collectors willing to pay up to hundreds of dollars for. The learning curve for McFarlane's designers seems to be steeper. Probably their decades of experience doing limited-articulation, pre-posed figures is getting in their way.
Morgan Freeman is the same the SAME hight as a comic accurate "Bat-Man" (6'2"). But he is TALLER than Christian Bale (6'0"). the Bat-man he was in the movie with😊
Totally agree with all your talking points. Thigh swivel is only for figures that are made for riding on a motorcycle or a horse like the Witcher figure. Thing I like about Mcfarlane is that they have been taking some serious deep dives into the DCU. There are too many Batman and Superman though.
My favorite Dc Mcfarlane is Swamp Thing but i think he made him too big! But I hoping he will release a more comic accurate Dr Fate!!🤞🤞

Sad that kong is a statue but overall todd is the only company that has tried to improve his products unlike hasbro who doesnt give a fk . Todd is also better at world building with affordable playsets and vehicles which would be expensive crowdfunds becuz i dont want my figs just standing on my shelf holding their dcks . Sure its hit or miss but all companies are that .
i agree with this especially about That Kong figure that was a missed opportunity. He is hit or miss but if he made some Tweaks this line could be mostly hits instead of misses
I’ll be honest, I bought a few early macfarline figs and all of them broke by looking at them. As such I tend to be a bit tougher to macfarline. That said, I’ve noticed the scaling issues abd inconsistency of scale. I only have a few and imo they are just ok to me. Detail is good but much of the time they seem cheaply made. Part of it is the rigidity of the plastic I think. I’m wouldn’t call myself a collector of this line. What I’ve picked up I’m just kinda meh.
I use to think Mcfarlane was not so good, but they have great fans who love the line, make great videos and have pointed me in the right direction of what to collect and what to avoid. Much better fan and community experience than Marvel Legends fans or reviewers. They suck! I have never seen a sadder more attention starved group of “fans” that buy every toy from Hasbro and talk shit about everything and hate on everything. I wish they would quit collecting. Or at least not make videos anymore.

Coming from a Marvel Legends fan shut your mouth before you know it's how to be making those Marvel figures too so get ready
😂😂😂
They are also too big! If he did a true 6in scale then I’d buy them. I say this because the sculpts and some head portraits are actually impressive.
Because they dont suck for everyone . Logic
@@Thee100WattWarlockare all humans the same size ? If not then why should toys be all the same size ? Weird
Wish Todd listens to the fans critical of his figures. This could be the best with just minor tweaks.

@@LegendSeries it’s gotta be his ego. He wants the figure posed two maybe 3 different ways and that’s it shelved for life.
@@SameTimeToys smh that’s why I only get them if there 5 bucks lol and even then I tend not do it lmao

SMH... one of the many reasons I never buy his stuff at retail.

I agree with you on the capes. I like cloth better than vinyl.
capes should always be fabric, no exceptions.
truer words have never been spoken... i couldn't agree more brother
