William Talman was at a private nudist party smoking a joint in 1961. Perry lobbied on his behalf & Talman returned My mother sent us to bed in the 60s when PM was on. And if you dared to make a sound......
Loved Perry Mason, when I would stay home from school I’d watch it instead of game shows. It aired around noon where I lived in the 70’s. Now I watch online.
I loved all of Raymond Bur's shows and movies. I didn't mind the bloopers and looked for them at times. Remember 'Ironside',, also some western that he acted in and even some bad guy shows. He is one of the finest actor. We were not only blessed with his talent but also just a man of our time period.
I love the original Perry Mason show. I didn’t even try to look at the new one. I’ve read all of Erle Stanley Gardner’s PerryMason novels. They are outstanding and REALLY there was only Raymond Burr who was perfect for Perry! I’m 77 and saw all of them originally on tv and heard that Erle StanleyGardner himself picked Raymond Burr for the roll of Perry Mason! Great choice of all cast members! ❤😊
Raymond Burr was fantastic as hard-nosed DA Frank Marlowe in the great 1951 movie A Place in The Sun with Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift. A lot of courtroom action as Burr breaks Monty Clift in half, and gets the jury to convict him of killing Shelley Winters sending Clift to the chair. A movie not to be missed..
The title is misleading, i didn't see any bloopers, just heard the guy say there were bloopers. And what was being described didnt match up at all to what was being shown.
I never noticed any errors watching the show. I grew up in the 60's and now enjoy watching it to enjoy seeing clothes fashions back then and classic cars, all of which back then were common everyday things, but now missed by me anyway, in todays world.
As much as Raymond Burr is associated with the Perry Mason role the show didn't make him a star. It made him a bigger star. Raymond was already a star in films long before Perry Mason came around.
My husband and I have made it a habit to watch one of the episodes of Perry Mason. We watch one to two episodes every night. We enjoy it so much and feel like we are so much part of their lives. How ironic is that?
How could we notice the bloopers since you didn't show them? Also William Talman was fired for one season. Raymond Burr successfully pushed for him to be rehired and he continued to play Hamilton Burger until the show ended. Also of interest when Raymond Burr was approached about doing the Perry Mason TV movies he agreed on the condition that Barbara Hale was brought back to play Della Street.
William Tallman had been at a party where pot was being smoked. It was raided. The producers of The Perry Mason Show fired him. But fans protested and he was returned as District Attorney.
@@toolman9573 Incorrect. That suspension started in season three and lasted into season four. Plus, there were numerous episodes where Tallman was not cast due to the episode taking place outside of LA.
Good stuff. You could make an entire video showing all the times the word “odometer” is replaced by “speedometer” when referring to a car’s mileage. In fact, “odometer” is never used.
After watching the prequel show on MAX, it got me watching the original show, and so far, i am loving the original more than prequel. I'm 36, and I rarely watch black and white shows. Both of my grandparents used to watch it, and so did my parents as they grew up. I'm still on the first season, and I'm love all the characters. Now I'm looking for the books. Thank you, facts verse, for sharing. What about you?
I hope you will change your mind about watching b&w movies and tv shows. B&W is much more than color didn't yet exist yet or was too expensive. Directors did fantastic work in b&w using it to create light and shadows and negative space. Give b&w a shot won't you?
@rtflone I do like the 50s Superman, and I'm also watching the Classic Doctor Who, which I'm on the second doctor, which is still in B&W. It's better than most of today's shows
Yes, Raymond Burr was gay; however he was a kind and generous friend. He saw that Barbara Hale’s real life husband an actor stayed employed. He also is responsible for Lt Tragg keeping his name in the credits and kept him on payroll and to get health insurance. He was responsible for William Taillman returning to the show using he clout gay yes but a good human being
The classic bloopers not mentioned: Perry worked in an office building with a balcony featuring a panoramic view of downtown LA. Yet over nine years, many, many exterior shots of that building showed that it had NO balconies. The sliding exterior doors leading to that balcony had no glass in them. Nor did the windshield in at least one car. Or the many phone booths; one featured Paul Drake's arm poking though a window where there should have been glass! Then there was his office: its numerous doors seemed to lead to rooms with different purposes depending on the needs of the script. The famous door behind Perry (when seated at his desk) led to a hallway that went nowhere. Perry also had the first wifi device ever: the intercom on his desk had no connecting cables! His multi-line phone had buttons that never lit up when in use…. Then there is the classic: the magic gloved hand that showed up several times through the first two seasons. It would close the door after one of the characters entered the scene. There are many more mistakes like these, which make watching the show even more fun!
I'm 65 and can't recall a time when you couldn't watch a rerun of Perry Mason at least once a day during Monday through Friday. Someone gave me the entire series on DVD seven years ago. I never opened it.
I loved Perry Mason. It was on Saturday night and did you know that the dialogue completely followed the books written by Earl Stanly Gardner. Also did you know that Raymond Burr gave Barbara Hale a red rose every day they worked on Perry Mason Years later when Perry Mason was brought back as an hour series, I’m not sure but I believe that show was part of a Sunday night series that included McMillan and Wife and a show starring Dennis Weaver called McCloud. I’m sure that Raymond Burr contributed to bring Barbara Hale a red rose every day they worked together on set. Ahh those were the days my friend I thought they’d never end❤
the Perry Mason show in the 50s with Raymond Burr maybe original TV series but there was Perry Mason movies in the 1930s, but I liked this one with Raymond Burr in it
Also, in Peru Mason’s day, TV screens were less likely to reveal small details as they do today. They were smaller, and curved at the edges, not flat as our modern TVs are.
I love the way American men looked in the 1950s, CLEAN-CUT & CLEAN-SHAVEN & wearing hats and well-fitting, well-draped suits. I have a big crush on Raymond Burr, HUSKY and BEEFY. He was one of those men who look better and better till they reach their late 50s!
It was a time when the average American was slender not fat. William Hopper was a Navy diver before the SEALs program was well established. That WWII participation helped his muscular physique.
Toward the end of this so called bloopers clip it dawned on me that all I hear is the voice-over, no actors talking. At least not much anyhow. Just the voice-over guy's intrusive voice. The typical 'funny' voice that of itself is supposed to add intrigue to the storytelling.
I think as a child I must have watched every one of Perry Masons shows. I would pick the most unlikely person as the guilty one . I was usually right. I loved watching these shows.
Yes, Raymond Burr as Perry Mason was a great actor, But, long before his debut in the series, Burr made a name for himself, often as the "heavy", in such films as Blue Gardenia, Rear Window and A place in the sun. My favourite LISA GAYE had major roles in six Perry Mason episodes from 1961 to 1966 and, yet, there was not a single frame-grab of her in this video. Really disappointing!!!
You are wrong about the "so help me god" The term "under god" was added to the pledge of allegiance during the McCarthy era It was seen as an anti commie measure. It is the same with swearing to tell the truth "so help me god" You must remember our constitution clearly spells out a separation of church and state. The presence of those references to god are still an embarrassment to our country.
