Our native animals are just so interesting. Australians should know more about them. Thanks for sharing such an amazing video. Cats should not be in the bush. It reminds me of a tshirt I once saw. It said, 'I love cats.....but I could never eat a whole one.'
I'm very sad tonight because I found a little, round ball of fluff on my back lawn this afternoon. He looked like a cuter (much cuter) rat. He was obviously sick because he was curled up and didn't run away when I approached him. I called the ACT Wildlife emergency number and found out that he was a native bush rat. One of my sons and I dropped him off, wrapped in a little blanket, at our local vet. They said that he'd eaten rat poison, they'd try to heal him with a vitamin k shot then sent us on our way. My sons and I named him Nate. I hope he's OK.
CATS ARE SO EFFING BAD IN AUSSIE LAND,I HAVE 2 WHO DONT LEAVE THE HOUSE.THOSE SMALL NATIVES MARSUPIALS AND MOST BIRDS DON'T STAND A CHANCE.I LOVE AUSSIE WILDLIFE AND AM FASCINATED WITH YOUR CHANNEL,KEEP IT UP MATE

Super video, Derek. Hopefully your videos will reach and inform many wildlife 'institutions' and the general public. These 'little guys' are important but don't get recognition! This video augurs well for your documentary.
Thank you. Would these [do not know how it is spelt] Boguls be in my Almond tree [last night] eating the new flowers or? Saw two, light grey with white tummies & round pink ears but do not know what they are. We live in Coolbellup, Perth, Western Australia.Thank you for this insightful video and commentary.
Brilliant footage Derek. Perhaps these animals aren't being talked about because not enough is known about them. Thanks to your channel we are all learning about these incredible little creatures. (The forestry instructors should subscribe to your channel!!!).
Hey Derek! You sure know how to tell a story! I haven't got the nerve to do a vlog just yet. I seem to have a face for radio and a voice for silent movies..... I always look forward to your videos. Sayin' hey... Greg
Hi Wilson N P _ Greg Thanks again for your awesome comments . A face for radio and a voice for silent movies. So have i But you now i thought stuff it. I want to make wildlife Documentaries It's something I have to do so i made a start and here we are. Cheers Derek
I've been filming Brown River Rats here in England recently, I found a colony of around 100. These animals are nocturnal but the dominant Rats get the food at night which means those lower down the hierarchy go hungry. These hungry Rats therefore have to stay awake during datylight hours to find food. I have taken to feeding them and they are now used to my presence.
@@stephenbrien548 Nice environment, its Grey and cool here in England, very depressing weather as we are supposed to be in our Summer months. Stay well fella.
Thank you! Wonderful information.

Hi Derek, I just sent you and email to your gmail. Would you pretty please help us identify what is living in our front garden? Thank you very much. 😊
