I picked this watch up in February this year. There was, I believe, a collaboration with Hodinkee with regard to the dial colour of this particular piece. A lovely watch fusing retro styling with the more contemporary dial colour and manufacture. Equally, the 2892-A2 is a great movement. Very smooth, accurate and long lived so I am not anticipating doing much other than wearing this piece for many years to come.
@@Johnfsu Yes, it's a lovely watch and the 2892 movement is a fine time keeper that can be regulated to very high accuracy without being a COSC grade movement.
So my collection consists of mostly dive/sport watches and I needed something casual, simple, dressy and unique. AND I've been wanting to get into Hamilton. You literally hit all those points of why someone would want this watch lol just bought it off your site.
Thanks for the video… This model really caught my eye. To my eye, it has a 60’s Mad Men vibe and the champagne dial is just classic and makes this piece seem more expensive and desirable.
Had this watch for a while. It's great! Sold it a few months ago but I miss it and might buy it again. Works well casually and formally. Gets compliments from people with attention to detail
What a gem ! Was able to try this watch on at a boutique in downtown Toronto and just loved the way it wore on my wrist. My wife shortly after purchased it for me as a Christmas gift ; she was equally impressed by the watch as I was. Took awhile to get used to the missing seconds hand but I try to wear the watch as much as possible since I like it so much. Great video btw Teddy. Not too much content on you tube for this watch , I’m glad you were able to provide some details.
Awesome size and look. However I always felt like if a watch has a date it should also have a seconds hand. That's why it's only a 9/10 for me! Two hand without date would also be cool.
Fantastic watch and an excellent value for money. I purchased mine in April from an authorized dealer here in Toronto and am extremely happy with. Fits just well enough on my 7 1/4-inch wrist.
Have this watch with the silver dial and gold pvd case. in 42mm. The strap is the weak point. After 2 years, the strap is worn out. Ordered a shell cordovan strap and the maker puts the original buckle on the strap. Good to go.
I was after a dress watch and this is where my search ends (atleast for the time being). Awaiting mine shortly. Also saved tonnes of money as I had zeroed down on Omega DeVille Tresor which is almost 6/7 times more costly.
The 2892-A2 MOVEMENT !!!!!! A movement developed by ETA and IWC and then later used in their own watches as well as the early pre co-axiel Omega divers. At the price this is the one to get. Its such a sleeper! Don't tell everybody. Its a lovely piece.
It’s that champagne dial that got me, one of Teddy’s associates convinced me to get this over a vintage Longines watch I’m inexperienced in the world of watches but I figured this watch has the aesthetic I was looking for and it arrives in 4 days and I cannot wait I am ecstatic.
@@carlitobrigante330 I really like the dial I still frequent this watch, but I with the strap was a bit thicker. It runs very well and keeps great time I love the 38 mm diameter, although a 36 would have been perfect. The L2L is great in my wrist as well and the crown and the winding experience is buttery smooth for a sub 1k watch.
Lovely dial... warm in certain lights and vibrant in others. Was looking at Hamilton for their Intra matics but when this came out I had to have it, so I bought it.
I have the black dial with the bracelet. I would be curious to see how this dial color would look on the bracelet. I love the intramatic. I understand that people would prefer that Hamilton modify the movement so that it got a better power reserve since there is no second hand, but at the same time, I am happy they did not touch the well constructed ETA movement. I also must say that the watch is right up my alley. If anything, the dial area is a little too big which makes the watch appear bigger on my 6.5 inch wrist.
Looks great but I saw that the dial colour is more champagne then salmon…but no second hand looks very tasteful and I enjoy that relaxed feeling to look on a watch that simply says like “take your time, no need to hurry”
Weird to me that it has a date but no seconds hand. Really like the dial color and the minimal layout. Needs a heat blued second hands though! Would really pop.
I was just admiring this watch online last night but had doubted that the "champagne" dial was as dark as it appeared in the photos. Glad to learn from your video that the color was actually accurate. A beautiful watch. I don't need another dress watch, but I would love to get this one!
Great review Teddy, great photography. The slower beat rate of the movement would not be noticed by this two handed watch. The date at is definitely my preference. Although I've had no issues with watches that use the laser factory regulated movement I do wonder how things will go further down the line so it's good to see the ETA 2892 in this one, The dial looks very elegant and the etched hour markers are a nice change from applied ones, I wonder if Hamilton tool a slight sideways glance at Nomos before deciding this.No seconds hand is no issue for this watch as the old saying goes sometimes less is more and I think that rings true for this watch. Keep up the great work Teddy.
I'm torn between the one shown in the video and the one with the grey fade dial...I might go for the grey since it has a black date window, I don't like the white scuare on this gold dial, it's the only nitpick I have...plus I can get the grey on a bracelet and still buy a leather strap for it
Hamilton does a steady great job with their watches. Love the retro champagne looks of this one. If they had a dive watch in their collection I'm pretty sure I could go all Hamilton with my dinky little practical watch collection.
Nice watch but correct me if I'm wrong surely it would be better to have the longer power reserve if there is no second hand to show off the higher beat rate ?
Actually, I like not having one. It keeps the true minimalist look. In a weird way it kinda slows you down. Besides, do you really need to know what second it is?
@@xnihilo1044 I know what you are talking about. But, to me, having a running seconds hand is part of the charm of mechanical watches. I honestly would also rather leave out the date to make it truly minimalistic.
Do you know if/when the Timex Marlin Hand-Wound 34mm Leather Strap Watch Green Dial Will be back for sale? I am in LOVE with this watch. Greetings from germany.
A vintage inspired charmer with warm tone! Good to know that it's a unmodified ETA movement for ease of service. Now about that H10 movement, does it mean that it was unserviceable by third party watchmaker? Which is a huge bummer and potentially crippling flaw.
I like the watch! to be more clean the H logo I think it's ok, Hamilton name and automatic make it busy end take something from ii to be very classy. But it's ok!
Can't get behind an analog watch that doesn't have a seconds hand. I think that would drive me crazy looking at it and not knowing if it has stopped or if it's running. I also really don't like the font of "intra-matic". It literally looks like the default font I'm typing in right now. I like most Hammies, but this one not so much.. just me.
if this was 36mm and was no-date, i would own three of them by now. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to put a non-color matching date wheel on these!?!
It’s okay. I’d rather it be a more true to colour salmon dial . Small seconds instead of a date window @ 6 & blued hands would have been nice and a hot sell.
wasn't this watch Hodinkee exclusive? They could not sell them and now everyone is selling. I guess i and others got scammed. Hodinkee has turned to Teddy to try to sell for them. Good for Teddy
About time they made something with shorter lugs, usually Hamiltons, even 38mm ones, poke way off for smaller wrists
They've been making this watch for years. The only thing that's new is the dial color.
Thanks for your review Teddy! This video sold me on this watch. I’ve had it for almost a year now and will always love it for being my first watch !

imo it should have had an acrylic glass too - pop the dial and more true to the period. STILL boss though.

Just bought this. Thanks to your video, which helped me in my purchase decision making.
The world need more watches with no second hand! Especially at lower pricepoints, sub $1000.
Thats the part i love! Why not yoy you no likey?
If only it had a seconds hand, would be a perfect alternative to the vintage seamaster devilles or constellation (which are too small at 34-35mm).

That champagne dial is amazing! I bet it wears bigger than you'd think it would in person. Great review!

Very nice watch, nice to see them delving into the archives as they have a very rich history. I'm still yet to review a Hamilton but own 2.
I love the look of the watch but the lack of seconds hand is a shame for a 2892 IMO

why the date and automatic text????????!

hello teddy, i think this piece has been made by the collaboration between hamilton and the hodinkee shop
One thing bad about two handed watch is likened to a dead watch. Every time is a guessing game. Certainly not my cup of tea and most of us I presume.
That's a good point. You can't tell if its running.
Much prefer the silver dial version

Put a seconds hand on it and get rid of the "intra-matic" and then it would be perfect.
I agree. Absolutely no reason to put "intra-matic" on the dial. Who's going to see it, who is going to care.
