Had this elevator for about 4 years. Now the door wont fully close on 1st floor it keeps opening because of this and is no longer functional..any idea why?
The elevator still operates without the door closing automatically? Typically, the door being fully closed hits a limit switch telling the controller tje car is safe to move. I don't know the rule on residential elevators as the company I work for does commercial elevators only, but we have to have a mechanical clutch that latches... should the car break down between floors and cause an entrapment, yiu wont be able to open the doors. What happened in the past was people would get stuck, pry the doors open and fall down the hoistway and die or be seriously injured. If the door is not closing all the way chances are that the clutch is not engaging. I recommend you have a company that does residential elevator work propose to fix it, that could be very dangerous and if something happens and it's your house especially knowing tje issue existed... you'll be found negligent. If that were to happen on an elevator that I went ant looked at, it would be locked out/tagged out.. basically red tagged meaning too dangerous to operate until repairs are made.
My mother like that elevator door they put in luxury home 1:00
The doors look weird but I still like it.
