Enorme.
My wife and I saw him about then. When she talked about that show she always mentioned that at times she could see tears in his eyes. It was true. He played with extraordinary feeling.
thanks for lifting this lost treasure from TV archives and bringing it to us. The production quality is just amazing, it feels like sitting right in front of them
Fantastic. SG must have been about 80 years old when this was recorded. The world's greatest jazz violinist and also a massively talented jazz pianist (with an echo of Art Tatum I thought). Thank you for posting!
This is Stephane Grappili and company. I never get tired of listening to this creative and unique style of jazz. I am very grateful for this upload. Thank you.
❤ Merci !
That was just wonderful. I met Stephane twice, and performed jazz and blues on the violin in Las Vegas. Unfortunately one time was after a bunch of people came to the venue I was playing at, right after Stephane played, for which I was at his concert and then met up to perform with a great jazz pianist from New Orleans. I almost felt like apologizing for not playing quite like the GOAT, but everybody was great, and if anything, my playing gave even greater appreciation for Stephane's brilliance, creativity and expression.
Truly great musicianship. I was lucky enough to see Stephane in Huddersfield and NHOP in Middlesborough (both small English towns) in the 1980s. This was at a time when jazz seemed to have a future, with new musicians coming on the scene and famous artists were performing in the most unlikely places. Now that has all gone. I saw the best of times.
I didn't know that Grappelli also played piano. His "Satin Doll" reminded me of stand-up pianist Maurice Rocco who played it as his theme in the nightclubs of Bangkok in the early 70's.
Absolutely perfect, they sound like machines. Especially in the faster songs, Marc takes a sadistic pleasure from playing. It's hard not to get carried away.
TH-cam knows me well, I guess. I was watching Dean Johnson Western AF videos and this is what autoplay tossed at me next. Kind of a leap in time and genre. Who is bassist and who's the guitar player? Great trio. Awesome upload!
Beside Stéphane Grapelli, the trio members were the excellent and therefore famous Danish bass player Niels-Henning Ørsted-Pedersen (usually abbreviated NHØP) and the Frenchman Marc Fosset, who played the guitar for S.G. quite often in the 1980s and 90s.

I saw him in concert in about 1976. He was wearing a pink velvet suit, and this same rapt smile, eyes closed. Totally absorbed in his music.
When I saw him in 1973 I was struck by the joy he showed while playing.
My wife and I saw him about then. When she talked about that show she always mentioned that at times she could see tears in his eyes. It was true. He played with extraordinary feeling.
Stephane is as incomparable as Django was. Breathtaking.
Yes. And so was Svend Asmussen.
YES INDEED !

What can one say !, except how very fortunate we are to have fantastic recordings like this !.
Absolutely Marvellous. Giants all. God Bless x x .

YES .. indeed !

Watched Him at the Granville in Ramsgate in about 1985... superb. I was a teen, but I was hooked then.

Sure. One of those rare gems to find!
Such a huge impact. The hearts will
swing joyfully to the very end.
Thank for sharing.
Grapelli un pur bonheur NHOP énormissime !

What an amzing recording. VERY high quality
Mange tak for sjældenheden. Fantastisk parade!!! Tre Maestros sammen. Fra Danmark er vores foretrukne kontrabas NHØP Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen 🥰
Fantastiske musikkere 🥰

I'm not sure about that. Look e.g. at Chamorros work. A lot of great talentpours out there, especially Elia Bastida. She is a force to reckon with.
Thank you, great mix.
Didn't know he was a beast on the piano too!
Indeed he gave up the piano as his main instrument after hearing Art Tatum!!
So much talent and spirit. He loves to play, clearly!!
And viola❤
Superbe version de "You are the sunshine of my life" (5'52")...Quels maîtres!
Minha nossa senhora.... Esse Grapelli tocava demais.... O trio é pesado....
@@eduardomarcelinosilva2367 Mas a música é ligeira, ela voa, eleva-se é nos leva com ela...

We miss you!!
This Trio are wonderful
Un milagro inigualable...un placer escuchar Grappelli...
Que pedazo de concierto!!!! Y estoy escuchando los primeros temas todavía 😅
I didn't know that Grappelli also played piano. His "Satin Doll" reminded me of stand-up pianist Maurice Rocco who played it as his theme in the nightclubs of Bangkok in the early 70's.
Un descubrimiento feroz para mi! Feliz escuchando y viendo hacer música de otro nivel!.❤👏👏👏
Absolutely perfect, they sound like machines. Especially in the faster songs, Marc takes a sadistic pleasure from playing. It's hard not to get carried away.
No, not like machines. Perfect, mut just NOT like machines. Machines do not have souls (yet).

JE REVIENS SUR CETTE VIDEO ONTOLOGIQUE. IL FAUT BIEN REGARDER, LA COMPLICITÉ DU RÉGARD, ENTRE LES MUSICIENS... SURTOUT PEDERSEN ET GRAPELLI !!!
See at about 230 in, some sweet violin move, bass player, Neil's just a little smirk
Maravilhoso.

Name of the third tune?
Location and date of this performance please! Thank you!

Great! BUT: Who was the Bassist and who the Guitarist!?!
