    You are building quite a collection of stadia. The Melbourne arenas are the most spectacular for me. Only been in one of these venues. Way back in the 70s when the Aussies tonked the Poms in the first Ashes Test at a very warm Gabba. Jeff Thomson was a blur in that game.

      If you’re in the US, try either the Willow add-on package for SlingTV, or Willow by itself, or ESPN+. They don’t all carry the same matches / teams.
      TH-cam also has channels for New Zealand Cricket and Cricket South Africa that carry domestic (non-International, not ICC) matches.
      Also Lauderhill Park in Fort Lauderdale FL usually hosts a couple of West Indies T20’s in August every year. They also have several Caribbean Premier League matches.

    Some info re the Sydney Olympic Baseball Park or Spotless Stadium as it is now called. If viewed from above a "teardrop" shape can be observed which is the shape of most baseball parks. Home plate and the infield diamond were located at the Main Stadium end. Some of what were the outfield bleachers are now covered stands.
    It was first used for the Intercontinental Cup played in 1999 between eight nations as the Olympic Test Event.
    This Stadium was not used for the 2014 Major League Baseball season opener between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks due to the space. Instead the SCG was magnificiently converted by MLB and a three games series with full capacity eventuated.
    NSW Baseball is housed at the Blacktown Olympic Park in a three field complex along side a NSW Softball complex of four fields.

    So as an American I dont get it. What is the reasoning behind having these auxiliary stadiums for these BBL teams?

    • @thinhnonyt
      @thinhnonyt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The BBL runs alongside the Test Cricket in Australia, sometimes the big stadiums are used up by the national team playing test cricket and so the BBL teams need to play somewhere else.

    • @flamingfrancis
      @flamingfrancis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The teams are franchise operations with Cricket Australia having controlling interest. Sme as any major sport, each tean has it's own stadium with games played on a home and away basis. As Trinh states priority is given to the Test playing stadiums whenever potential clashes eventuate. The BBL season is primarily played during the school holiday period around Christmas.
