I like the angle this was taken from, it makes you feel like you are right in the cab, yet you can see the surroundings also. Are those straight-air brakes or automatic air?
You are driving it? R U from Britain? There is no steering wheel in the cab, trucks and cars get driven. Steam Locomotive engineers RUN their engines, hence they are called Runners. As you are learning, it is a finely choreographed balance of throttle, valve adjustment, adding fuel, adding water, and maintaining steam pressure. Running a steam locomotive is an almost lost Art, glad to see you young men interested in taking it up rather than being video game commandos.
I know it’s running. Sorry to say for the general population would consider running a steam locomotive as driving it. I definitely have a lot to learn. It is an art and it takes time, just as with any skill.
I love those RMI locomotives.
Always wanted to make one as a woodburner with a functional R&H style stack.
This made me think of all the fun that Walt must have had in his backyard with his live steam loco's.
This is a giant compared to Walt’s “Lillie Belle”, still great fun.
So now you have ask yourself is bigger trains better. 😂
I am sure after a while that sort of turns into a dance that you get fluent with. Thanks for sharing.
you don't drive you operate and engine. Nice video of the action with a great instructor.
I know, but for non rail enthusiasts it translates a lot easier.
Great video brother!
That is really cool! And looks like you had both an education and a great time!
very good video this! you drove very well.
Thanks, run or operate the engine is technically correct, I don’t care that much though.
@@nates.vintage.trains ay fair, in the uk at least the most common term is to "drive" so thats why i said it
This looks ton of fun :)
I miss going to live steam parks!
Wow!! That looks like a fun place.
