What a great video! It was really interesting to see Port Phillip Bay from a ship. Thanks for making and posting this video.

Thanks for the comments. The question about yawing in the open water part of the transit is interesting. Normally auto pilot is engaged for those 23 miles but the crew are either not familiar enough with the auto pilot settings or are too disinterested or fatigued to set the unit up for calm conditions. This seems to be worse with the adaptive auto pilot units. Can be a problem with opposing traffic of course and seems to be a waste of fuel in these conditions. Protests from the pilot are often met with blank stares and the only remedy is to stay in hand steering if someone can be found who can actually steer the thing at high speed! Cannot name the ship but she is a standard 260 by 32.2 metre vessel and many companies have them in their fleets. In fact, a sister ship is alongside at No 3 West before departure.

Do some of those small boats, yachts, literally play 'chicken' with those ships? Great video.

Wonderful footage yet again! Is it possible for me to use and share this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, etc. Of course full credit will be given to the owner of the footage. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Cheers.

I work as a Captain on a ferry boat that you see going past and this is the first time I have seen what you see from the wheel house

Great video. You should do more, I would like to see you do one coming into Melbourne, into West Swanston Dock with the right swing and reverse park.

This is great, an excellent time lapse, and very interesting. Can you tell me which ship you were on? I am curious as to why the ship was yawing let and right all the way across the bay? Thanks for sharing!

Just my guess but it looked like the current maybe was strong and yawing it left slowly and the right yaw was the quicker corrective one.
