      My 1st car in 1979 was a 70 Roadrunner, don't feel bad, I was 16, and trashed it totalled drag racing at Milwaukee's lakefront in April of 1980. I still feel shitty about right now, and I'm 60 years old. Cheers!

    The only thing I hated on the one we had was that massive body roll even after the new gas shocks were installed. Comfortable car, but definitely earned the "land yacht" moniker.

    • @davidkeeton6716
      @davidkeeton6716 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Shocks don't control sway or body lean, only speed of wheel movements. This car with just an Addco rear sway bar would really handle better and not lean over nearly as much. It helped my 70 Plymouth Fury 1 440 police pursuit.

      The narrow track doesn't help much. I had a '66 Polara hardtop coupe, 383 2bbl. The worst part was the drum brakes. OTOH, that car would drive for miles, no-hands, on the expressway, just wobbling between the lines.

    cCan you read my mind by chance? You have Creative compassion. The thought that hey mabe there are others out there that would enjoy watching this video and not just enjoy it on the surface because it is a great video, but gets us thinking on many levels. You know how many of us have done the same kinda thing in our lives in one way or another at one time. Maybe now you are the conduit that we need, each in our own way to fill the bill for that void we have. You are much apreceated for doing this and also having the forethought to acquire and build this amazing car. I bet you may have even envisioned this video as one of the final results of doing it. Thank you for inspiring me and my thing with my car. My 66 Newport with a BB may star in my version of your video. Thank you!

    I had a buddy in the early '90s who bought one that had been traded in a few hours earlier at a local Dodge dealership. $250 cash + a $99 processing fee. Drove it for about 6 months, and one day it crapped out in Navy traffic on the HRBT while I was a few cars back. He limped it to the area just before the tunnel goes under the water, parked it on one of the HRBT employee parking spots, and walked away from it forever.

    Can someone explain the magic, how and why the body lifts when rear wheels goes spinning? This seems common among muscle cars.

    • @shedman7323
      @shedman7323  ปีที่แล้ว

      What is happening is that when the initial torque is applied to the rear wheels it loads the suspension,pulling the body down. When the tires break traction,the pressure is released allowing the body to spring up back to it’s original ride height. This creates the illusion that it’s lifting. Also, it bounces past it’s original height for a split second as the torque is released.

It was a gentleman's muscle car, four doors, all power, docile cruiser but could morph into a nasty tire melter in no time flat. I really like that car. He got rid of it well ahead of when I started to drive. We still reminisce about that car that should have been kept and saved.
    Thought I spied a Camaro. I have a pewter colored '99 LS1 (V8) Z28 convertible, gray leather interior, chrome wheels, 77K miles. Everything works and cosmetically still a nice car, deep shiny original paint, garaged most of it's life. Looking for a '99-'02 hardtop manual SS or a Z28.

      Ain't that a bitch? Bought a 77 Gran Fury ex Wisconsin State Patrol auction car for $825.00 in 1984... 440 Police Interceptor, cop tires, poverty hub caps, cop brakes, electrics, suspension & exhaust. Wish I still had it!

      I build them pretty tough. This car is equipped with its original 360 punched .030 over with Keith Black Pistons, Stealth 4bbl intake, mild comp cam, beefed up 727, and a Yukon 8.75” 3.55. Plenty of low to mid power.

    I think those dog dish rims are Plymouth Division hubcaps and they came as factory option on the 1969 Dodge Charger? Is that right?

    • @shedman7323
      @shedman7323  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They put those caps on anything from Chargers to Pickups and anything in between! AKA “poverty caps” The only lesser option was no caps at all!

      @@shedman7323 Thanks man I appreciate your input. Reminds me of the cheap hub caps that fly off the wheel at every sharp turn because they were so cheaply applied in Detroit.
