This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
Great video with some really good advice. We love Calabria too and bought a second home in Santa Domenica Talao about 10 years ago ... can't wait to go back once we can fly there from California.
Super Savvy Travelers, LLC thank you! I hope to be back soon ASAP. You have some amazing videos and information. I would love to meet you and collaborate in the future if we ever manage to be there at the same time 🤗
Hi Ashley, I'm not sure if you're still active on here but I want to thank you for making your videos especially because there aren't lot of Calabrian-centric travel content on TH-cam. I'm hoping to plan a trip to Reggio Calabria for next year if the world doesn't go to hell again by then. You've given me a lot to think about and motivated me! Thanks again. -Tony
My parents are Calabrese. Growing up I would spend whole summers there. You are deadright that between noon and 5 everyone's either asleep at the beach or asleep in there homes. They call it the mezzogiornio region for a reason. Its so hot and after eating a big pasta lunch youd just want to be in the shade snoozing. hardist thing was always adjusting back to american life having to get up go to school. Stay awake at school past 1 pm...lol
@@Seegie16 well don’t be too jelly. I came back to the USA just before the pandemic and haven’t been able to make it back to Italy since 🥴 I’m hoping to go back as soon as possible
thank you for all the detail. speaking of electricity ...are the bills per month reasonable? I wish you the best. I plan to visit once the pandemic is under control.
Great question.. I felt like the utilities were generally reasonable. However, I’ll admit that the electric bill seemed to be quite a bit higher than what I’ve paid in the USA. Overall, the cost of living is considerably lower
I am very interested in moving and becoming a Calabrian citizen to start a business or in the agricultural sector, and at the same time looking for a partner but don't know how to register.
Hello! Yes, it is safe to travel to the south of Italy. I would say the most dangerous thing about the south is the driving LOL I can almost guarantee you won’t see any illegal activity, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist but tourists are very unlikely to witness any of it
Hi Ashley, we are planning a trip to Calabria in mid sept. Can u suggest the best city to make our base ? We will have a car to visit other cities. Thank you
Hello! You're going to have a blast! It kind of depends on what you're into and what kind of activities you like to do. Is there anything in particular you'd like for your trip?
Just typical tourist stuff. Looking at Tropea, Reggio Calabria, San Nicola. Any info would be helpful. We will be in Calabria for about 4 days. Thanks again.
@@karengadaleta7557 Tropea is great for tourist stuff, especially in September because most of the crowds are gone but a lot of the businesses and attractions that serve tourists in August are still open. Reggio Calabria is great if you like to explore bigger cities. The boardwalk looking over to Messina is really beautiful. It will be cheaper for you to find a place to stay in the province of Vibo Valentina, which is where Tropea is located. Tropea will be more expensive but there are areas nearby that will be cheaper. I should note that you need to be careful driving in Tropea. The road that you take down there is a very curvy, winding road and once you’re down in Tropea, there are many areas that you cannot enter with a car (the historic zone for example). So make sure you’re paying attention to signs and park in the appropriate areas. You don’t want to get a ticket in Calabria, take that from my personal experience LOL
@@birthofangela thank u so much for all the info. We got a reservation for Tropea & plan on visiting Reggio Calabria. We will take your advise regarding the driving. Thanks again. Can’t wait to get back to Italy
@Tim Green oooh that’s a tough question. It depends on for what purpose we’re talking about. I would say for beaches and touristy things, Vibo for sure. I would say for big cities, Reggio and Cosenza proper are great. Smaller and cute towns, Verbicaro is very cute. I love all the colors and how it’s tucked away into the mountains (I might be biased because that’s where my family is from LOL) But I’ve never been to Scalea, however, it’s really close to Verbicaro and I would love to go someday
@@birthofangela Looking for a place to buy with water views. Tuscany coast is just to expensive. Calabria, Abruzzo, Apulia seem to have the best buys Thank you so much for replying I will definitely check those areas you mentioned!

Hahaha it’s so true. It’s very hard to adjust back to American life afterward. I’m always much more culture shocked coming back to the states 😂

What do you suggest for banks and credit cards? Would you recommend leaving our US banks behind? Know if any international banks?

Is it safe city for tourists and tourism ? Because they say south of Italy like calabria is not too much safe?
