The energy the band members have is everything! It's amazing to see them go from animated (off-field) to robotic (on-field) in seconds! *Love TBDBITL!*
Sure thing! There are actually quite a few band members with GoPros. It seems like his video performed really well after he uploaded it. Unfortunately my GoPro in this upload was low quality so it probably led to bad video engagement and discoverability on the platform. I plan to post more shows next season!
It was Malagueña, a common song in the Latin Jazz space. We actually performed it in that day’s halftime show by the same name. You should be able to find it on my channel!
I've often wondered: when playing a bass line in a huge spread-out group like that, how aware are you of the parts being played by the other instruments? When playing in very small ensembles, "the most important part is the other guys'."
Since our tuba section is so large, a lot of times especially in halftime I can’t hear the other sections, just percussion. However, one of my favorite parts of script is you get to hear the “real time audio mixing” as people go by and play harmonies that fade in and out as they pass. In general during pregame everyone is laser focused on not messing up so not too much attention is paid to the other sections and their parts.
