Dividends are what got me into investing in the stock market. The thing to me is, if you invest and have other income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends without selling. Which means you can pass that on to your kids which will give them a leg up in life. Have over $600K in my portfolio as I bought a lot of dividend stocks before, I'm buying more now, and I will buy more when it drops further
As a new investor it's always great to hear from a person who has gone through all the difficult times and come ahead of it. It's unnerving to see your portfolio go from green to red but as mentioned if you have invested in quality names just have to keep adding to them and stay the course

SCC dividend is 21% per year P7 per share. 200,000 shares x 7=1,400,000. Less 10% withholding tax net= 1,260,000 per year divided by 12= 105,000. It takes 17 minutes for him to explain but he did not include SCC. And take note that SCC is included in the index and currently trading at 60% off. There is a popular saying: The more you talk the less you know.

You should never sell the stock that is providing you dividends. You can use your stock as collateral by taking a margin loan if you need cash. If you have enough shares, your dividends will pay your loan off.

If you are 40 years old now, you can start buying 100k worth of stocks for 20 years. By the age of 60, you will have your 24M capital. But but investing in stock is too risky and difficult. The easier investment to do is mutual fund. I would buy mutual fund of 100k a month like ALFM. 5%(conservative) of 24M is 1.2M a year. Not to mention the div during 20years. And dont worry if div doesnt come in monthly. You can withdraw 100k a month.
