  • Resistant hypertension is a common chief complaint in primary care clinics. But for new nurse practitioners, there’s a lot to sort through.
In this video, I walk through the thought processes and approaches to managing resistant hypertension in primary care.
✅ How to talk about medication adherence with patients
✅ The role of ongoing blood pressure checks - both in clinic and at home
✅ Considerations for current medications and dosing
✅ How to investigate the secondary causes of hypertension

I love videos like this! In school they teach us first, second, and third line medications along with some primary causes of HTN, but the practical tips are very helpful! I start my first NP job on Monday and I plan to ask patients the "always, sometimes, never" questions to promote a safe space to disclose.

Great update on HTN and resistant HTN. Thank you for making these educational videos! I am a new graduate NP starting in FQHC and realize many of my patients will have the triad HTN, DM, HLD, so this is very helpful. Hope to enroll in your courses soon.

    Hi Liz
I really appreciate your videos and learn a lot from them. I am not a NP but rather a patient with Type 2 diabetes but I find your videos so approachable and easy to learn from. Also helps me understand my own treatment and medications my clinicians have made for me in the past.
Please keep it up. You are helping lots of people out there.
