From The Third Policemen,One of the superb theories of the great scientist De Selby,,,who believed that dark was not an absence of light,,but a substance, Centuries ahead of his time,,,a visionary, I wonder if Flann O Brien was influenced by his fellow Irishman Swift,,the floating island of Laputa in Gullivers Travels
I me and I always said keep your bicycle close to your pump just in tha case it falls outside your saddle and then tha walk home will be a long way home with your saddle up your back beside that pump upyaar narse
A De Selby convention in the UK is is long overdue: an opportunity for leading scientists and philosophers to present the latest research on matters such as the Waterbox and efforts to bring down the bicycle percent of the rural Chinese population ..... does anyone have a date in mind?
Just finished reading it today, one of the best. Mad craic.
Truly one of the funniest and thoughtful books ever written. Only an Irishman could do it.
Completely brilliant , what a writer this fellow was ✨
My ex eventually metamorphisised into her mobile phone. I couldn't turn her on anymore.
Lol
You need to change your phone, the sooner the better
...I lost mine in the wash
Did you try putting her in a bag of rice?

Someone pointed out to swift that laputa means "the whore" in spanish. He said "yes, I know"
He was influenced by whiskey😂
Thanks for posting. What is lovely is that there is a fair amount available on TH-cam.
If there ever was a comic writer more gifted than Flann O'Brien, I haven't heard of him or her.
David lynch is pretty surrealist and hilarious. The return probably had the most surrealist funniest things ever
Beautiful Irish logic, only an Irishman can be blessed with it. Genius.
Have you read R. A. Lafferty? Irish-American, and a slightly different variety of strange logic.
@@NancyLebovitz I haven't but I'll certainly have a look. Thank you.
Superb, many thanks
this is so masterfully done. thank you so incredibly much.
That is awesome! Beautifully done!
I reckon, Spike Milligan read Brians work
Loved the little detail of the policeman walking like he was cycling..
I am about 45% car & 25% sofa & 15% mobile phone
Pure genius!!
Thank you, this cheered me up today
Interestingly enough, a two legged gallop looks undignified, but it covers the ground quickly...
Flann O'Brien was a prescient genius.
Oh fuck I must be a bicycle....... good lord I thought I was Catholic.....
Couldn't agree more with me
Bloody brilliant! Is this from a tv show or just a sketch on its own? Just ordered the book
Pure Comic Genius: Flann O'Brien. In the same league as James Joyce

That is... about... the size of it...
Happy new year me darlings xx
Marvelous.
Anyone know who is the actor?
I wonder if there is a clip about the bicycles congregating as if in conversation?
The actor is Eamon Morrissey as stated.

There it is, black and white.
Thanks, I don't know how I missed that.
A fantastic vignette. Is there more to this performance?
In full it’s about an hour long. I think I watched it on dailymotion before. It’s called The Brother
Don’t ever ride a bicycle all your molecules will integrate

You can be both, Catholics are always being taken for a ride in Ireland
@@jimreid9674 oh the riding starts as soon as you leave the land but leprechauns are patient the dance others laugh and she sees the truth .
Looks like John Cleese used this for his Silly Walks routine.
