This video reminds me of the time I was in middle school. There was this kid with autism and not a lot of people wanted to help him or be near him. So one day I saw his shoe laces were untied on the stairs and when I saw he was struggling I offered to help him. I didn’t know he had autism, much less what was even autism. All I knew was that whenever I saw someone in need, I just decided to help them. I’ve seen him struggle several times, even when he had someone (I believe it was an assistant that helps kids with special needs) so whenever people wouldn’t sit with him or involve him, I just went to sit with him willingly. Even when I wasn’t exactly the most popular student in my grade, I just did it without thinking because I didn’t want him to be left out.
Years later, my mom came home one day after having lunch with a group of friends. She told me that she ran into the kid’s mother. The mom told my mom that her son still remembers me till this very day. Mind you he left the school after middle school so we never heard from him again. It’s really and truly amazing to hear that after all this time, he still remembered me. At one point, I did actually wondered what happened to him, but at least now I know. I nearly cried because I was so surprised when she told me.
P.S: as I was writing this comment, I actually started balling my eyes out, because now that I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD and SPD, I can relate to how he feels and how happy that someone I helped a long time ago, actually just about made my day and that’s truly something I’ll never forget in my life

Aww thank you and tbh I wasn’t even thinking about it at that time. I just did it instead. Growing up, I was rather impulsive, meaning I tend to act before thinking and whenever I saw someone in trouble, I just knew that I had to help them, without a doubt. I truly didn’t think “would this benefit me?” Or “why am I helping them?” Cause I know some people out there think that there’s no point in helping people unless if it’s for themselves. When I heard from my mom that he still remembered me after all this time, I almost cried. It’s moments like that that really put a smile on my face and remind me that you can’t help everyone in the world, but as long as you help one person, it’s a lot more worthwhile.
In this selfish and dark- the Whole of humanity is holding on only bcoz of little acts of love. Love is Khesad.

When I was younger I was consider a little behind from other kids. At 5 I couldn't speak for most of the part. As I went to a "Normal" school, I was placed in a "Normal" classroom. No, I am not autistic or am I as severe as the boy in the story but I wasn't considered normal. No one wanted to take up the job and teach me how to speak, not even the speech teacher herself. My own teacher who's job was only to teach the normal students and didn't really had to attend to my speaking problem helped me. She spent everyday, when the all the other kids were assign something to do, helping me speak. No, she didn't neglect the others and neither did she neglect me. She taught me how to speak. She may have been strict but she had a heart of gold. She never was force to teach me. It wasn't just me she helped either, another boy in my class had autism and she helped him and calmed him down. I've realized how lucky I was as she didn't have to ever teach me, she did that all on her own. I am happy and I hope she's living a great life. Bless her heart.

I was a teacher for 35 years. It is the best job on the planet, and the worst job on the planet, with often just a millisecond between the two feelings, but I would not have changed a second of my time. Many a lesson ended with me thinking "why am I doing this", but as they went out a student might smile or say thank you, and everything wrong with lesson vanished in that moment.
In a few weeks time, I shall have been retired for ten years, and I still miss the job (but health issues made me leave).
This video has had a powerful effect on me, bringing back so many memories of my career. It also brought other thoughts to the fore as, in my late 50s I was diagnosed with Asperger's, and, despite being high performing, I can empathise with being outside the norm.
Thank you teacher ;) I am a mum, my eldest son was told by his school he has got asd. But i believe its more of aspergers traits. I dont know for sure. He is turning 6. Getting better slightly in terms of looking people in the eye.

I have an autistic cousin. I never liked him at first. His parents hated him. One day I asked my teacher what autism is and came to know more about autism. I used to teach him. I moved from Busan to Seoul. Then the next day after moving I got a phone call saying that he could not stay in one place and is constantly banging things. I met him and he just stopped and stood there and started crying. I never respected people before, until I met him. I was moved by how much love a person who looks so cold can give. I am so proud of him and I will never forget him.

Not always, some teachers are in teaching because it is a job that pays the bills for them. But some teachers are really dedicated.
Teachers can make or break students spirits. I had 2 types of these opposing teachers in my high school. Let me tell you. I have always remember both. I hate it the teacher who ridiculed me in front of the class until today and remember fondly the one that made my spirit and believed in me to move from a D student to an A student. And im in my 40s now ☺️
