  • “In this place, the way you treat someone determines who you are.” Abdullah Ahmad, a blacksmith from Wahdat, Jordan, has lived by this precept his whole life. Abdullah was born deaf, but through care, trial, and patience, has developed an improvised sign language largely unique to him and his family and friends. Join us for an intimate glimpse into Abdullah’s world, as he demonstrates how he navigates the stigma of disability in the city.

What a wonderful kind man. And so cheeky with that smile. His wife is amazing and you can tell they adore and love each other dearly. Their son is also amazing, helping his dad and learning the trade from him. . I hope they have a wonderful prosperous happy life. I'd love to watch more about his work and life. He is an interesting man.

This was really well done. The editing and sound work made the piece really engaging and it drew me into where Abdullah lives and works. Thank you, very enjoyable doco and interesting subject matter.

Hey, I love this so much. I’m really happy you showed the noise of the city but not necessarily in an ugly way. Didn’t know the “wolf’s milk” folklore, even as a Jordanian your film was super intriguing.. so much respect and love your way

Wow, this was fantastic. Abdullah sounds like such a character, and his wife is so sweet. It just goes to show that with the right attitude, you can make your life work even when given the biggest challenges. Of course it helps to have a culture that is supportive. There's nothing like living in the Middle East, whether you are Jew, Muslim, Bedouin, or Druze. Like he said, how you treat people is who you are.

Oh I wish we had community like he does. We're all separate these days. The west is less human than that community he has there in jordan. Wish I could ever love my neighbors like that.
