    Excellent Ryan, thank you. Just to answer the Koi pond water at 7.5, this is a very good PH level for a koi pond, your Koi will thrive. As for watering your bonsai with Koi pond water, it is full of nitrate, so watering your Bonsai with Koi pond water should be only used as a feed around once a month. I used to water my trees this way 20 years back ( when I had a koi pond ) my trees thrived using this method, lots of deep green healthy foliage. I mainly keep Japanese maples, I never missed the foliage on them, they don't need it as long as my watering is on point. I also use a koi pond carbon water filter on my tap water to filter the water for all my trees. My trees always look very healthy all season using this method.

    You did an excellent job explaining transpiration in relationship to bonsai. Also - your discussion ref the operation/ chemistry of the stomata was entirely new to me. Loved it. Well done with the video. This surely must be the ultimate exemplar of videos on water and transpiration . Kindest regards and thanks for bringing us such a quality production.

    if the water from the soil is being absorbed by the roots
    at the rate of transpiration, couldn't we just filter the sunlight that's hitting the tree
    and slow the rate needed of transpiration.... which would let us not have to water the tree multiple times in a day lol

    • @monkichiboi4003
      @monkichiboi4003 ปีที่แล้ว

      we have proven that photosynthesis does best in all 4 forms of uv and range of 3k 4k and 5k kelvin BUT not needing more than 100 lumens and the only difference between species that would require more lumens is the density of foliage (the top shading the bottom)
      so technically you only need to full sun exposure the trees that havent been styled and padded (the big bush looking trees lol)

    Am I the only one who gets uncomfortable when he starts to waste that precious water on the floor and benches for "humidity" when he literally just can spray it on the trees directly?

    • @chasingthefish9042
      @chasingthefish9042 ปีที่แล้ว

      Water isn't being wasted. It's just returning into the water cycle. Wasting water would be like taking water and putting it in bottles, then never drinking them.
      There's a great episode of the magic school bus my kids really enjoy about the water cycle.

    • @statsguy1446
      @statsguy1446 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not that simple guys groundwater is not unlimited (I'm assuming he's using it from well) cause it's not directly part of water cycle. Its accumulation underground is very slow process over long period of time. There's a reason people aren't allowed to water their lawns or fill up the pool in extreme droughts.

    Why the hell does Ryan always have to use crazy, scientific words ALL the time? C’mon man.. we are trying to get people INTO bonsai. Especially younger people. Talk in a way that they can understand. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. Y’all are super fans though so….
    Edit: if you’re talking about water, say “water”. If you’re talking about leaves or foliage, then say that. Geez dude.

      Bar room chit chat doesn't transfer to bonsai real well.... The terms he uses are necessary for the basic understanding of what you need to know with this art !

      The young people today can barely speak their native language. Literacy rates are plummeting. For many, plain English is confusing. Maybe Ryan shouldn't even call it "water," since now we expect him to pander to the largest common denominator. Let's call it "splash."
      "It hit different when you sprinkle splash on lil leafy-boi."
      "Bet."
      "Dead-ass."
