Had the VERY good fortune to have studied with the same teacher as John in SF (the late Dickson Titus; the very best, by the way). Going through all my old junk, boxes and boxes of cassettes (remember them?), I found an old recording of one of John's lessons with Dickson (I rented a room in Dickson's studio back then when he rented space to students), around 1982, preparing for his debut as Alidoro with the SFO. What an absolutely wonderful, warm resonant voice. And the absolute sweetest man you could ever want to know. Very sad to hear of his untimely passing in 2016.
He looks very nice ! Great Don Pasqual
