    One thing I've noticed in life is that people who are in the habit of using expressions like "to be perfectly honest with you" and "to tell you the honest truth" etc, usually turn out to be the greatest liars I've ever encountered. Make what you will of that.

      I think it was Paul Byrne said on the news last week the renovations / drain works was just a rumour and that a new Garda joined the case and started going over it 3 months ago,in one of the notes from a garda doing the original house Search it said that under the stairs had just been concreted.
      The gardaí were unable to do a dig for the last 6 years because Tina was classed as a missing person,a missing person investigation has a lot of boundaries for the gardaí so this garda apparently pushed for it to be upgraded to a murder investigation in order to give them the right to go into the house and dig etc.

    Just don't understand why cadaver dogs were not used in the house 6 years ago from the start. Any normal person could see from the get go this guy was hiding something, you do not delay reporting a loved one missing for 4 days. Her family had been left for over 6 years wondering, waiting, praying, just for some small bit of information. The Garda are answerable for this. Cadaver dogs should of been deployed in the family house over 6 years ago. How many missing women do we have in Ireland, and no trace of their whereabouts. I am shocked. Its not acceptable.

    • @laurahickey2990
      @laurahickey2990 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I get you but at the end of the day you have to assume both are in play, missing or dead. Garda should of got the cadaver dogs in, the husband said she was missing, but you cannot take his word, every avenue should of been investigated hence the cadaver dogs. They searched his property the week she was reported missing, he had inconsistencies with his story.

    • @supernova101010
      @supernova101010 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @clairemooney108 you are totally correct, but we are speculating, maybe he killed poor Tina somewhere else and buried her a time later. Maybe the cops did bring in a dog and there was nothing to scent. Either way its a disaster for Tina's Family to not know for 6 years.

    I think this was a premeditated murder. It comes across as a controlling marriage and I think the motive was Tinas attempts to extricate herself from an unhinged Richard. Removing Tina from a support network of family and friends in Fermoy to a house in Youghal, a fixer upper where carrying out work wouldn’t be surprising or suspicious. Richard decides that work needs to be done under the stairwell and digs out the grave over a period of time.
    As new movers to an insular town they are practically strangers to the locals during this. Richard gets the concrete in advance. I think he knew where he would bury Tina and after she was last seen alive at the car boot sale he murdered her in the house, wrapped her up, buried her under the stair well and went about laying the concrete and waiting for it to set.
    After four days he alerts the Guards. Plenty of time for the concrete to set properly. The Guards wouldn’t suspect the stair well since it’s a fixer upper after all and the concrete has already set. He then goes into his rehearsed spiel about what a marvelous husband he was (past tense) and, as a narcissistic nobody thrust into the limelight, he privately enjoys the media attention and local notoriety. He tries to steer the narrative towards escaping to the UK but his controlling ways catch up with him since she had no accounts or passport. He very nearly got away with it and what caught him out was his attempts to literally seal the deal by doing more cover up work on Tinas body along with an eagle eyed Guard spotting a difference between the initial pictures taken in the house against later pictures showing the additional DIY work.
