Just to be clear, they have taken an old dlc, patched it up to a standard as it should have been on release day, and selling it as a new DLC? Only Dovetail has the face to pull something like this off. Shameless beyond belief.
I don’t want to defend DTG but the old DLC is pretty much unplayable. The new one, however, is actually very detailed. I went to Jamaica while on holiday and it is very accurate. The long beach branch is a very welcome addition
As much as it may seem like that, it is in fact quite different to the previous. You've got to think that we have gotten a new loco (albeit not too dissimilar to the M7) and at least 15 miles of track with 10 stations - In some routes that has been the standard (look at Suffragette Line, Glossop Line & Cathcart Circle for examples). The thing is, the overhaul would have took as much time as a regular DLC as it has been done from scratch with new signalling, etc so to ask for a standard route price is not too much to ask.

@funnygallie7863 It’s not unplayable. DTG modeled the singaling wrong. Sure the singaling had to be done from scratch, but that doesn't justify a price of $40. If Triple A studios did what DTG did, there would be enormous backlash. Getting something completely wrong only to fix it and charge people full price for improvements is anti-consumer.
Not to mention that the Long Beach Branch barley adds anything. It's only 10 miles. Once you leave Jamaica and Penn Station, the route is much quiter. This is definitely not worth $40
i think the safetly stuff enable should be like tht on all routes as it so much easier now but i love the new update been playing both and lirr2 is better
If it's required on for every route, it would take away the fun from those who want a casual ride.
It should be a toggle and if the licensor requires it, then fine. Dtg also did mention that adding a safety system toggle now is much tougher because it's difficult to define what exactly safety systems are and the whole logic behind it. They said it would have been easier to do if it was done from the start but that's just a hindsight

So far pretty good, besides some lighting glitches by Jamaica.
I think the safety systems on German routes for example may be difficult to contend with if they were on permanently but I would not be opposed to them being enabled at all times!
I agree that a toggle would be a good idea but I guess we already have that by being able to enable safety systems yourself
The 40 arojnd woodside is stil there it’s if you’re routed on the local tracks. I did an express but because there was an express behind me that needed that track more I got the local track but that’s really the only difference is between the switch and the woodside platform then you get full speed to about a mile before jamaica
Oh yeah of course! I should have noticed that I was on the express tracks!

I’d say it’s worth it! You get a lot for what you pay for even if you owned the route before!
In 2.0 that would be a SPAD and you’d have been fired at jamaica. Actually no the safety systems would have stopped you!
LIRR Engineer here. Approximately a quarter of the signals on the property have PTC protection at this moment. All of the Signals in the yards, Penn Station, Jamaica, and Brooklyn have no protection from passing a stop signal.

I feel let down, and taken advantage of prolly gone be my last money spent with DTG
Reason: the Long Beach branch is a breath of fresh air believe me,but like someone else said it’s 10 miles, it’s very short once you go over that the rest of the route is the same as the original….
No third track expansion between floral and Hicksville.. (yes thats an actual thing)
You could have added the grand central Madison extension…?
The ATC is so random, makes the gameplay less desirable…..
Just sad honestly….
I think personally it's a great route and is a lot if you don't already own it. I think the absence of a third track and Grand Central is due to when the route is set. I do agree that it would have been nice to see those though!
ATC in real life is frustratingly random. It drops to 15 all the time, and the location where it starts coding you down for restrictions actually changes based on your speed or which engine you happen to be operating! If it's frustrating and random in the game, then they did it right.
