Excellent reminders. Thank you. I've been busking for a couple of years now (in Santa Cruz California) and everything you said is true. Especially the part about doing it for the "sharing". I find that if I go out on the street remembering that I really do it to feel the beautiful connection with people, then the money is always there. Conversely if I go out thinking "I will impress everyone with my playing and singing, and I'll make a lot of money", it just doesn't work. Little by little I am learning to stay in my heart and let that shine through the music.
Tip number 6. What works for you does not neccessary work for others. Just do what you do and how you feel, dont take tips as a rule. For me I am just a solo accordion Player, Playing different styles of music, in almoast random order. I am dressing casual no special outfit for busking, most important it is comfortable for weather conditions and I Can move freely. I am mostly focused on Music what I AM Playing, not audience, so I dont really care if that particular person is going to donate or just walk by. Almost no interaction with audience. Works fine for me for 15 years
Hey, yes. It’s bit desert most of the time specially the most touristic places, generally people looks more shy and discouraged. It’s sad to say but that’s it. You can feel in the air kind of sadness. I try to do my best bringing music and nice vibes... sometimes I feel like good-energy generator in a hungry world that needs lot of positivity and to go on.
