Go buy a salvage auctioned one and you'll get all the gear minus the weapons. Mine still had the decals on it for simple hail damage. They left the blue strobe light bar, head and tail light strobes and the air horn with speaker. Cage, shotgun holder and two rifle locks. I threw a Tahoe 4 foot console in my Vic and it had a lock box with it. Also a laptop mount and a laptop. Bought mine for $300 with only 94k miles after getting the odometer cluster repaired as the soldering was inop.
anyone hating on these cars needs to remember Ford abandoned them. The could easily put a coyote v8 and a modern transmission in there and keep the body on frame which makes these alot better than the new taurus based shit box
our department is switching to the new ford interceptors. They aren't horrible, they are faster but less spacious than the vics. We also have some caprices which aren't bad either. Still love the vic the most though =)
jjoncm1 Ok but the purpose for most police cars are cheap and reliable yes the three and a half liter motor might be faster but that modular 4.6 is legendary and with the unibody chassis police departments are going to be paying up the ass to fix the frame if they can. And the crown vic was the last real V8 rear wheel drive body on frame american car which is sad because those type of cars are legendary.
Crown vics are still going to be around for a while. One of the most dependable, reliable, and safest cars we have. I'll choose body on frame over uni body anyday. Check out my 2008 black and white p71 and let me know wat you guys think.
+Unmarked Pursuit Vehicles ( UPV ) Well since it sounds like you have exp with vics I got a question for you then. I'm looking to trade my car for a police vic and the seller has wires coming out of the trunk, what could they be? For the lights maybe? I can give you a link of it if you guy's want it.
Lol thanks man BTW this is my new TH-cam account so be sure to subscribe. To answer your question I got 10 years experience with Vic's and still learning. The wiring in the trunk can come from the police lights or the trunk organizer. Some department has the manual trunk organizer that slides over the spare tire. I remember seeing a guy having the wiring info you describe her on TH-cam as well. Unfortunately I forgot his TH-cam name but I'll find it for you. Also my cvpi came with the trunk organizer package as well but it was the metal tin kind.
Unmarked Pursuit Vehicles 2 (UPV2) What I like about them is that they were built to last. Yeah gas miles sucks but hey, they are easy to work on and fix.
History repeats its self. The Crown Victoria will be back. Several more years down the road it’s just my opinion obviously but it wouldn’t be a shocker.
yup I had a p71. although id have preferred qa p74. theyre cheaper to insure. you can convert a p74 into a p71. changing the ecm, adding brakes, and if you want the oil pan found in p71s. cheaper to do it this way. but anyhoo agreed with what you say. body on frame panther cars kicks ass
LOL! I bet only 10% of all police cars in the US have this kind of technology built in them. This is like the luxury model outfitted with every option available.
***** I could see a lot of State Troopers and and police cars in big cities having that technology. Significantly less in an average police car though.
all Panthers are limited to 110. the p71 depends on the axle ratio. and sadly the marauder has it's speed limiter set to 117 look it up from car and driver and motor trend
Great cars! Had one when I first started with my agency...BUUUUUT, being a shorter officer, I always felt like I was sitting on the floor and inside a land yacht.
This is widely absurd. I'd like to see ANY car sitting on the side of the road get rear-ended at 70+ MPH and NOT burst into flames, it would happen just as often. Consider the scenario before you just listen to the media.
Crown Vic's have a huge design flaw which make rear end crashes more dangerous. They fuel tank is behind the rear axle making the more prone to be struck.
250 is a lot. It's just that as Americans we aren't impressed with anything less than 600. Besides, horsepower is not the whole story. Transmission programming has a lot to do with performance, and so does the differential ratio. If you're working in the city, you put in a short rear end and you get a jackrabbit. For highway patrol, you put in a tall rear end and you get a Land Speed Record contender. I have personal knowledge of a 2011 CVPI that will peg its 140mph speedometer. For as long as she's got gas in the tank, she can cruise at north of 140. All day long. All night long. Unless you've got a supercar, the CVPI will eventually run you to ground. When it comes to the Ferrari and Lambo guys and such-like hotshots, OK, I admit it, y'all can dust a Crown Vic. But how about a Beechcraft KingAir 250? Care to run it for pink slips?
loved the crown Vic that thing was built like a tank but road like a magic carpet but it later became illegal to sell here because it lacked Automatic Stability Control
Hmmm Thats odd... It begins recording the moment you turn the lights on....and yet somehow the police can LOSE that video and audio proof in court...when it would exonerate you and incriminate THEM... FASCINATING !!!
great cars for sure. this one must of been buttoned up at the last minute or is a demo vehicle. because theres a fat battery cable running arcross the radiator fan. cant even run your serpentine belt. and yes, many counties and states now have all this tech standardized.
I believe your thinking the metal brace near battery and radiator bottle is a fan blade, it isn't, it shields the electronics in case any radiator fluid spray back that could kill engine. These units have electric fans and radiator is tucked close up to grill. By using electric fans your reduce extra engine heat and gain a little more horsepower because no fanbelt robbing usable power.
yay Portland own one too have a quad core 9800m GTX laptop equipped inside dual 1080p (F/R) cameras led tail conversion dual battery conversion push bar installed water pump was replaced recently on that police car :D
What's next a fart diagnostic computer that detects who farted in a crowded stadium full of football fan's so they can be arrested for passing gas ! now that's a topic for the next inside tech video ! ( just for laughs )
There maybe some Interesting wiring and such left in a auctioned retired police vehicle, but nothing of any tactical value is likely going to remain still in place.
While Ford denies there is any so-called "cop chip", the CPU in a police interceptor is programmed differently. Maximum speed is raised from 120 to 140. With a little more tweaking it takes full advantage of the upgraded cold air intake and the improved engine breathing o0f dual exhaust. And there's a couple things here and a couple things there, you know. It's the same basic chip as the civilian Crown Vics, except different. It's tuned for police. So, no - there is no "cop chip". Except there is.
maybe. but what about your driving abilities :) and a radio. dannot outrun radio. may be able to outrun the car at 140. but the radio, errm might be difficult :)
Not sure yet but since I need to get a new vehicle, and while something sporty would be nice I might be able to get a 2004 P71 interceptor, 267,000 km, but these things are made to be durable as heck right? Didn't know about the extra cooling. Aside from something like 2010 or 1985 Camaro I've always kinda wanted a police interceptor, idk why :D
It depends on the Camaro..an rs definitely will get smoked by an interceptor but a z28 or iroc will show its tailights all day and night..you are not giving those 80s v8s enough credit
The performance and safety ratings of this car is not bad at all...Considering this car was developed in the mid 70s and was on sale in 1979..it's basically the same frame and technology. .Minus the engine and trans which came in the early 90s
Lumotaku loll I agree. Taurus one with the oval back window was my first car. Its all I could afford. Someone at work told me to sell it before the tranny goes out. I said whatever. Then not a year later the odometer hit 95000 miles and after a long hard day of work I get in the car start it up put it in drive and nothing. It would go in reverse but not drive forward. Sucks when your starting out in life. Unless ofcourse your rich.
they got nearly 300 tourque, my dads gotta 07 crown vic police interceptor and i joke with him sayin my 1.8 has almost as much HP as his 4.6 but hes got about double my TQ if not more
Ford could have easily pumped 300hp from the motor, but they didn't in the interest of reliability. And besides, the torque is more than adequate. While not fast, they pull. I own a 2008 CVPI and it's very easy to go over 90mph if you're not careful. The first time I drove it on the highway I was surprised mainly because it kept pulling and was very smooth even at high speed.
I have a 2004 Interceptor and the car can cruise at 100mph on the open road for miles effortlessly. The bigger point is that no cop car could take the constant abuse for 200-300K miles and still keep running like the Crown Vic. There was a 300hp 4.6 motor built by Ford but it was a 32v design and not a 16v like the Interceptor.
Aspie Otaku The Crown Victoria is a nice car but i prefer to wait and get the Ford Interceptor instead. Look it up that car is specially made for police work.
Lumotaku So you're either PPD or security. Get in the way of what? Gee, I guess 85% prevent of PDs who have center consoles don't know what they are doing huh? Typical TH-cam.
Cops didnt pick this car for the speed but the fact its cheap and easy to maintain and very durable and tough, also its easy to soup these up since it is a V-8 and it doesn't take much to make 250 hp to 500+ hp if you know what your doing. For us civilians retired cop cars make great budget hot rods as well as decent daily drivers.
Also due to how comfortable they are since cops are mostly sitting down chilling jaha but yeah Ford is easy to fix. Not Mercedes ... Not BMW .... But ford is easy. Great cars actually. Very fun to drive
Jurgen Escobar Amen to that mine has 191.5k miles and still running strong! I hit 60 in 7.1 seconds which is good enough for me and mileage isn't bad on the highway the only thing i regret is parking can be a pain and it doesn't have a cd player just an am/fm radio!
Jajaja hell yeah man. It was my first car. Now I have an SL500 hard top... But never in life sealing my boat jaja thats his nickname. It has 181k miles. Not a single thing wrong with it. Still an every day driver. Fun thing to drive. Rear wheel... When is raining ... Oh man.... Best shit ever ! Hah
They've gone too far with this gadgetry. Running plates constantly, constantly taking pictures of everything and everyone around; watching, listening, filing data. If you're in line of sight of this vehicle, 360 around, you are automatically under surveillance, recorded for posterity, and with these systems they don't miss a trick. They don't need to run plates to get the lowdown. With facial recognition software the system can pull up files on pedestrian passers-by. If it can't find a file it will start one. We can trust most police to think and act like most Americans so they aren't comfortable with this kind of 1984 skullduggery. Not this year, anyway. But sooner or later they get used to it and it's just part of the job. No, I don't have anything to hide, not that I could hide anything even if I wanted to. That LEO a couple of cars back can just read off my plates out loud to Officer Google and in five seconds he'll know more about me than my own mother. Nothing to hide but plenty to fear. If you aren't scared you haven't been paying attention. Listen, and understand. That government is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are fully compliant with the letter of the law. Or dead.
a cop pulled me over one time in 2011 because he said i made an illegal turn. Ya see i was in a lane that had an arrow showing it could go straight or left....i went left. After telling him go back and see for yourself it was legal because the markings printed in white ON THE ROAD said i could go left he went back to his car with my license for the longest time.....a really big duh moment i was waiting so long i was about to call the police myself and tell them their derpy officer needs more training. he finally comes back hands me my license and says im good to go. But after that he cocks his head to the side and asks me " you dont plan on doing anything to the government do ya?" i looked at him shocked..."what? of course not why would you say that" and he patted my doorsill and said oh nothing have a great day and went back to his car. this was a big shocker. Obviously back then i may have posted some anti obama memes on facebook or something but nothing insane crazy or violent. Makes ya think.....how much info and what database do they have? that was crazy
You do realize that they already have that information, right? You WILLINGLY give it to them when you register your car. All the ALPR does is tell them where to look in the database for the info you gave them. These dashcams only record when they perform enforcement action. Recording 24/7 and storing it would take so much data they would run out of money within a year.
auto plate readers are an invasion of privacy cops should do their own job and not rely on computers i see peaple all the time that should be pulled over yet never a cop around when you need one. if i am not doing anything wrong dint interfere in my life.
How is it an invasion of privacy? License plates are government property. The only info they get is what you gave them when you registered the vehicle.
Love my Vic. Truly is the king of the highway.
I love my Vic. They're such a well-built vehicle.
I love my 2007 PI. What a comfortable cruise down the highway. I always wondered what police thought when they see civilians driving them?
Now why the hell didn't they leave all that tech in my vic when I bought it!
Money
Legal stuff they can reuse it
So your not a police impersonator.
Go buy a salvage auctioned one and you'll get all the gear minus the weapons. Mine still had the decals on it for simple hail damage. Unmarked Pursuit Vehicles 2 (UPV2) I like the chargers too but don't know how the repairs are and stuff. Haven't worked on one in the shop yet.
History repeats its self. The Crown Victoria will be back. Several more years down the road it’s just my opinion obviously but it wouldn’t be a shocker.
Agreed. They are tough like a truck and handle very well. I love panther cars, they are awesome highway cruisers
mine gets 25 on the highway and when i ride past cops they wave lol
A good reliable tough ass car and cheap as hell to boot!
yup I had a p71. although id have preferred qa p74. theyre cheaper to insure. you can convert a p74 into a p71. changing the ecm, adding brakes, and if you want the oil pan found in p71s. cheaper to do it this way. but anyhoo agreed with what you say. body on frame panther cars kicks ass
Best cop cars ever. Ford should've just updated the crown vic.
Yes, I average nineteen mpg in daily driving and just saw twenty-six mpg on my latest road trip. Horrible for a huge sedan.
PantherP74.....19??? In the city???
No way man LOL
26 on the road I do see regularly though.
LOL! I bet only 10% of all police cars in the US have this kind of technology built in them. This is like the luxury model outfitted with every option available.

James Nance you are wrong bud I have a 05 p71 gos 129 with 3.27 and a08 120 with 3.55 both speeds are on the nose
I said the p71 depended on the axle ratio. My bad it was the way I worded it
All p71 r like that 1998 and up no less then 120
ya if i dont see a cop pullin someone over i see em lookin at that dam computer as they drive
"High definition 720p"
Lmao I needed a good laugh today
technically 720P is High Definition. (some argue better than the ugly couain 1080i) Always was.
1080P is "full high definition"
Doesn't matter either way. No matter how fast someone is driving, they can't out run the radio.
Memphis Reigns out ran a helicopter with the help of no2 and Caroll Shelby 🤣🤣😂😂😂
Damn only 250 horse power that hella weak my Dodge hellcat got 950 horsepower so am safe I don’t have to worry about getting caught.
2 words Radio Jammer
Great cars! Had one when I first started with my agency...BUUUUUT, being a shorter officer, I always felt like I was sitting on the floor and inside a land yacht.
i always hit my head to the top of the frame when i get in
also the speed cutoff removed on a p71. the police cars will run til they scatter.
Thank you officer.
100% led as he has a halogen spotlight lol
In 30 years it will be ' Ahh 'Remember the Taurus and PIU now that was the last of the Real Cop Cars''. As we fly an electric saucer .

Hey can you now check out a Charger Pursuit if u can and review please
4 of 5 stars isn't that bad. and the mileage isn't bad either considering their overall size and weight.
great car bro I have a 2000cv was a San diego police cruiser runs like hell
Only 250 hp?!!!
Why are they so damn fast?!!!
Because they floor it

NOT TRUE. CROWN VICS, ARE SOLD EVERYDAY! ALL OVER. AND FOREVER
Because they're large, comfortable, safe, cheap, easy to maintain, and are hugely durable.
It's about time they picked up that perp.
Cool tech!
Hmmm Thats odd... It begins recording the moment you turn the lights on....and yet somehow the police can LOSE that video and audio proof in court...when it would exonerate you and incriminate THEM... FASCINATING !!!
SquillyMon Every department is different, gomer.
Every department is the same it’s the individuals that make the difference
it's amazing even after ford stopped making them there still in service for many years to come.
My gramps uses the Ford crown Victoria as Taxis. He has 12. 🚕🚖
love Crown Vic.. waaaaaaaa
of course not. if I am not mistaken this is the Portland Oregon police. they are actually pretty radical.
great cars for sure. this one must of been buttoned up at the last minute or is a demo vehicle. because theres a fat battery cable running arcross the radiator fan. cant even run your serpentine belt. and yes, many counties and states now have all this tech standardized.

My 2010 sure as fuck don't feel like 250hp when I accidentally break 100mph passing somebody. The thing is a rocket...
It's the torque!
THE BEST SEDAN EVER!!!
yay Portland
own one too
have a quad core 9800m GTX laptop equipped inside
dual 1080p (F/R) cameras
led tail conversion
dual battery conversion
push bar installed
water pump was replaced recently on that police car :D
What's next a fart diagnostic computer that detects who farted in a crowded stadium full of football fan's so they can be arrested for passing gas ! now that's a topic for the next inside tech video ! ( just for laughs )
Even a Prius?
I saw a cop rearend a guy at a stoplight because he was messing with his computer...it was hilarious

All these camera angles but the police officers lose footage🤦🏼♂️
почему у нас нет таких патрульных машин? :(

Th1rt3eNoriginals False.
The new Ford Taurus is also able to withstand said impact.
Jo060 the taurus is a piece of shit do not mention it again
Shhh. Your opinion is useless here and everywhere, especially when you put in your. 02 as a random reply.

Horsepower =/= speed.
250 HP in a car that heavy is not that impressive.

Just 3 more years till i become a cop... cant wait!
You dont have to wait you can buy one at a police auction or from a taxi cab company for 4 grand or less.
Aspie Otaku
The Crown Victoria is a nice car but i prefer to wait and get the Ford Interceptor instead. Look it up that car is specially made for police work.
Gerardo Maldonado you mean the Taurus Police Interceptor?
Tanner Stig
Yes i thought it was just called the Ford Interceptor. Since its only made for police work.
Yeah are you a cop now? Did you make it?
Only 300 plates per officer per day but the system itself can do several thousand? What's going on there? Why not let the darned thing do its' magic?
They mean prior to the system being put in they could only manually do 300 a day. The point was that the system IS doing its magic.
how the fuck are you gonna catch somebody if ur car weighs over 4,000 pounds, and only 250 hp
Except when they're rear ended and burst into flames. I'm not hating, I have one too.
Good equipment, but man, the inside of that car is ugly. How about buying a center console for everything to fit neatly into.
the center console is the number 1 thing that gets in the way of the electronics duh.
Lumotaku The center console is supposed to house all of the electronics. Derrr.

you want to have fun try a 5.4. 5.0 cyote or 6.0 raptor motor swop in a vic.cobra 5.4 supercharger and the vic will hall ass.

I doubt there's 250hp under the hood
250hp is a fact
426 liters ? wow.
Recording 24/7 and storing it would take so much data they would run out of money within a year.
pinto,s dont impress me much
Lol tgat tech has been in the uk for ages now
this is all old shit lol
auto plate readers are an invasion of privacy cops should do their own job and not rely on computers i see peaple all the time that should be pulled over yet never a cop around when you need one. if i am not doing anything wrong dint interfere in my life.
How is it an invasion of privacy? License plates are government property. The only info they get is what you gave them when you registered the vehicle.
