It’s inspiring to hear about how far you’ve come since deciding to minimalize your lifestyle. Love your individuality and honesty about why you don’t buy these items anymore and a lot of the things you mentioned are goals for myself as well. I loved your statement about not being “a walking billboard.” You is right! :) ❤️
Yesssss! Number 15 speaks to me so much. I am the biggest sucker for kitchen gadgets and accessories and duplicates of essentials (mixing bowls, measuring spoons etc.) Of all the places in my home that I want simplicity, the kitchen is number one. The struggle is real! Thank you so much for this great video!
Thank you for this Kyra. I watch videos like this to motivate me to keep going and not spending. Although I am definitely not a minimalist, adopting a minimalistic mindset when purchasing things is very helpful in saving money, asking oneself why am I purchasing this item? Is it a need or a want? Do I have something similar like this already or an item that could perform the same function without me making another purchase? Anyways, it has definitely helped me... my journey to decluttering and minimalism is a slow and thoughtful one and I'm loving it.
You amaze me. Every time I think, Wow, you have simplified so much to aspire to and then you turn around and minimize even more! You truly are an inspiration to me.
I would love to see a video on how you went from one end of the spectrum, for example having a bunch of phone cases to have just the necessities. A video that is more about your mindset shift this way.
I follow all of this and didn’t even notice it 😂 I love living a minimalist lifestyle I was just saying the other day my room is rarely ever messy now bc I don’t own a lot of furniture , clothes , etc and I absolutely love it !
Dakota Cross no shade but I think it’s funny that you say that and then your profile picture shows you wearing a bunch of makeup 😂😂 your really pretty btw I just thought it was funny!
Fun thing I noticed: alot of things you mentioned aren’t even a thing here in Finland where I live. If you want anything travel sized aside from shampoo and conditioner, you have to order it from abroad. I have also never seen or heard of a dryer sheet and I actually had to look it up.
Pacifica makes vegan cruelty free perfume. I own the Island Vanilla scent which I love and it only contains four ingredients. I recommend if you are looking for something to try. Love the videos btw!
Omg I love that one ! I like the blood orange one too I am using that one now ! They are so easy to put in your bag , I'm allergic to regular perfume so it's nice to have one that doesn't have chemicals in it
It's so inspiring ... I agree all of the list except book because my eyes hurt when reading in the phone. And also I can't concentrate when listening an audiobook. I respect your opinion. Thank you for sharing with us.
I really love your videos. I’ve rented since I was 18 in London and it’s difficult as hell when studying and getting the experience for the career you want. I’m learning a lot through your videos bc I’m tryna be minimal and save as much as I can - thanks! 🌟
Loved this video ! Really appreciated how you gave really valid reasons as to why you stopped purchasing all of those thing. Also like opened my eyes on how you said that we shouldn’t be having so many “outfits” for our phones and treating them like kids bc they’re not! Totally subscribing, thank you for such an informational video!! 🙏🏼
Hello Kyra, I am a new subscriber. Only recently came across your channel and checked out a few of your videos. I'm a fan of the message you're putting out into the world where every thing else is pushing us to spend more and purchase more. It's exhausting always trying to "keep up" so it's a breath of fresh air to hear someone say all of that is not necessary. Keep it up!
You’re so great Kyra☺️ I’m no minimalist but you inspire me to still spend quite responsibly have made me rethink a good few things I was planning to buy! Keep doing what you’re doing!! Love from Germany, Ciara
I felt inspired every single minute of this video. Definitely I would be putting into practice everything that I learned from this. I'm already a minimalist but looking now from a different point of view, I do buy things that I don't need. Thank you very much. You inspired me.
Thanks so much for the video. I'll have to try the coconut oil. For fabric softener, you can try white vinegar. This is something I learned in France. It doesn't make your clothes smell like vinegar. Makes the clothes soft. White vinegar is also an excellent cleaning tool as it kills germs.
I love your video! Very straightforward, not much of upfront blabla, even though you did justify your personal opinions at the beginning (which is completely unnecessary) but over all, just extremely honest and pure and inspiring. thank you!
I agree with you on flip flops, I will say since I own 2 pairs I invested in good ones that last. I have a nice black sanuk pair (so comfy) and another from a running store that are comfy and good for my feet.
Thanks for the great video! These lists always jump start my brain in new ways of looking at my stuff. Time for another round of decluttering and simplifying!
I stopped buying a lot of pens/markers or stationary items. I stopped buying new foundation when i still have foundation left. I also stopped buying nailpolish
I really enjoy your videos. It's refreshing watching a young woman making the most of her life. Knowing what she wants and having a good outlook on life. Please dont feel bad for not going to school. I know so many people that have degrees and cant find jobs in their field. I'm impressed that you are working the same job for 6 years. So many job hop. Working with the elderly is fulfilling. You keep up the good work. We can all learn from you and your outlook on life. Tfs
some things i understand but others i can’t imagine not buying 😶 i love being able to physically flip through a book and sit down to write my day out in a planner.
Totally understandable, everyone is different and that is the beautiful part about each and everyone of us. If everyone was the same then life would be pretty boring😁👍🏼
Hi Kyra, 🙂 thank you for your helpful video. You see what is and is not worth money when you go to sell it for money in return and also what foods cause problems to your digestive system. # Continue to live a bright and inspiring future 💜
I have one pair of flip flops, two pairs of Jean shorts, one pair of Jean pants and 2 pairs of tennis shoes. One for work, one for weight lifting. The rest is just tshirts and a few dresses that love. One purse that doubles as a wallet and I'm in the process of downsizing my jewlery. Loving this way of life so far.
A big tip for minimalism especially if you're just starting.... reusable or multi-purpose should be in the back of your head every time you go to buy. You could also start by decluttering and throwing away the stuff you already have that you don't use (or sell it for extra $$) I'm not 100% vegan or minimalism but just practicing it for the past year has changed my life and I only do small simple things 😂
Do you have a skin care routine video? I feel like I've already seen it so maybe an updated one with the two products you use... I want to stop using crap on my face... also do you use sunscreen? Or vitamin C?
Gave me some more ideas. Thanks. Off the top of my head (I don’t purchase anymore): cable; magazines; newspaper; homephone/landline; game apps on my mobile; rags to clean the house (I use old clothes and cut them up); socks; face towels; recipe books; books; wallet; souvenirs; refrigerator magnets; eco bags (I have plenty); cellphone case; workout clothes; handkerchief; coffee (switched to tea); creamer for the coffee; wrapping paper; holiday decorations (I have enough)...whoa, it’s a lot. Sorry to flood your comment section.
I just found your channel today and I’ve watched several of your videos. You are a very likable, mature young lady who is very grounded and responsible ! I commend you and respect your decision to be minimalistic!
Loved this video! I've already stopped buying some of these to use up what I currently have. I'm also glad to have finally found a vegan youtuber that doesn't preach and mention it every 5 seconds. Love that!
When you have kids and you wanna purchase holiday decor it's always smart to buy the decor the day after the Holliday. They always have deals for the decor then.
Thank you for making this video, its inspirational and an eye opener, I'm currently moving out of my place and omg I never thought how much crap one has. Definitely cutting back on stuff. Love love thank you
I went to a large vintage store I mean this place was full of stuff! I realized how much stuff is in this world and how much goes to waste. Only thing I don't agree with is the bras. If you have large breast it's necessary to spend money on a good quality bra. Good thing is that more affordable stores like Kohls are now offering larger sizes higher quality bras so you dont always have to go to stores like Lane Bryant.
i just look up to you so much. i love the way you live and keep everything simple, i don't think i would never be able to be into minimalism that much that you are (which is fine you know). but i do want to cut some things out in future. this is just great
I just started watching your channel and you’re amazing and beautiful! You are so down to earth and realistic. Keep up the great work. You are an inspiration
Great ideas! I enjoyed your video. Vinyl shower curtains! I despise them! I now buy fabric ones only and they work just fine. I clean my stove and pans with baking soda. I use microfiber cloths for cleaning and I would never go back to terry cloth ones again! I clean my tubs and showers with a clean broom designated only for this purpose, and a squirt of dish soap. I use a squirt of dish soap in my mop water. I make an all purpose spray with water, squirt of dish soap, and a few drops of essential oils (I like Young Living) Thieves or lemon. I have never used any type of fabric softener (couldn’t afford it growing up, so I am used to not having it, and don’t see the purpose, really). I also like more simple meals, and am narrowing my ingredients more and more. I buy one type of shampoo and conditioner that works well for our family of 6. We like Shikai Tea Tree Shampoo and Nature’s Gate Aloe Vera and Macadamia Oil Conditioner. I can’t stand kitchen gadgets. I like things I can use for more than one purpose, such as a cheese grater for garlic, instead of a garlic press, and a strainer for sifting flour. I have an immersion blender and like it much better than a conventional blender because I hate washing all the parts and it takes more space.
You should make this a series and label them as thing I do t buy #1 things I don’t buy#2 and so forth so your viewers will know it a new video because I wasn’t sure if this was an old one poping up again or a new one. Just a suggestion!
Well, I never really thought about it this way but I guess I am a “Minimalist” too. I stopped this ENTIRE shopping list over 15 years ago and never looked back and I love the results my account summary shows from my bank 😊 My bed comforter was a little more expensive than I would have liked but it is definitely worth it!! I love my bed and the comforter is all white also!! 😂😂😂😂
From a young age, I have always been very concious of how I spend money, so I guess many things you said therefore come to me naturally. I don't know the prices of stuff where you guys live, but for example a bottle of water (500ml) costs around 80 cents (converted into USD), which means that if you buy bottles of water every day, you're spending a lot of money. So I've always been using a reusable bottle. I also never wear make-up because it's really expensive. Also since I reduced the amount of meat I eat, I also saved a lot of money, and it is eco-friendly. I love the fact how more and more people become aware of minimalism/ environment- friendly alternatives. Fun fact, plastic bags are not for free either, so most of the people don't take them anymore because you have to ask the cashier for the bags and they are too lazy for that.
I always enjoy these videos you make. They make me think about the items I use on a daily. I changed a lot of my shopping habits within the past year, and I hope to get better! A few items I stopped buying are plastic razors (I have a vintage one with the replaceable blades and they work so much better and are so much cheaper in the long run!). I also don't buy shaving cream (my body wash does the job!), I stopped purchasing eyeshadow palettes because I never wear eyeshadows, and idk why I kept buying them! I also got a reusable sponge after watching one of your previous videos. I can go on but this comment would be very long, haha.
just my version: coloring books - get 2 beauty products - collect and recycle empties only get brushes logo tshirts - limit or cut nail polish - get rainbow and holo taco soda and juice - just cut back comforter sets - get plain comforter and deco pillows extra dishes - get a set for extra people over cologne
My problem with name brand stuff is I hate the logo covered stuff but I like the quality of the brands. It’s hard to get logoless options, in store unless I go thrift but sometimes I don’t feel like riding the bus around town to find it.
The flip flop thing was so specific but exactly what I've been doing for YEARS. I just don't like showing my feet, only when the weather is too hot will I take out my sandals/flip flops haha.

I just put my legs under the shower water and shave. Wouldn't cream just make it harder to shave?
It’s inspiring to hear about how far you’ve come since deciding to minimalize your lifestyle. Love your individuality and honesty about why you don’t buy these items anymore and a lot of the things you mentioned are goals for myself as well. I loved your statement about not being “a walking billboard.” You is right! :) ❤️
I watch many declutter vids and this is the first time Fish were on the list - lol (brilliant!) .....ok I'm off to declutter my 🐠🐟🐠🐬!
I am down with all 49 except the 17 I love a good paper pack book. The fresh smell of a new book is just 🤗.
Great idea 💕 thank you
Exactly what I was thinking.
I thought about this as well! I think figuring out why we consume (or hoard) as much as we do is important to understand before navigating minimalism.
I am 53 and am doing my best to live a simple life. I am currently working on downsizing. No joke we have at least 300 DVD's!
That’s probably how much I had before to😂 don’t worry take it slow you’ll get there 💕
I’d love to see some 3-ingredient recipes!
Brussel sprouts,rice and an avocado
Fun thing I noticed: alot of things you mentioned aren’t even a thing here in Finland where I live. If you want anything travel sized aside from shampoo and conditioner, you have to order it from abroad. I have also never seen or heard of a dryer sheet and I actually had to look it up.
Pacifica makes vegan cruelty free perfume. I own the Island Vanilla scent which I love and it only contains four ingredients. I recommend if you are looking for something to try. Love the videos btw!
Omg I love that one ! I like the blood orange one too I am using that one now ! They are so easy to put in your bag , I'm allergic to regular perfume so it's nice to have one that doesn't have chemicals in it
It is a good company!
I love love love the island vanilla!!! It’s the only perfume that doesn’t make me dizzy or give me a headache
Great tips! I stop buying a lot of the same stuff. It's crazy how much money goes into all this tiny little things we tend to overlooked
One tip I love is using ice cubes under eyes for depuffing and face to increase blood circulation 💕❄💆♀️
Keep it up!
You inspire me to be minimal! I was looking through my makeup today and was looking at all the products I don’t even use anymore... such a waste
White vinegar is also an excellent cleaning tool as it kills germs.
it’s crazy how drastically she turned her life around for the better :)
I seriously need to adopt this lifestyle
YEP! I *AWOKE* one Morning and I was *DONE WITH STUFF* and now I am *FREE*
Hi Kyra. I just wanted to let you know that I have been binge watching your videos and I love them all. You explain so well. Wishing you the best.
Would you mind sharing some of your vegan recipes? I get so inspired when I watch your videos; thanks for sharing.
Love your plants. I enjoy reading but only get books from the library.
The logo thing is a really good idea, I’m gonna start doing that now
I stopped buying a lot of pens/markers or stationary items. I stopped buying new foundation when i still have foundation left. I also stopped buying nailpolish
stationery*
Coconut oil is great for your hair! And it’s natural 💚💚💚
I love this! I’m not a minimalist but I love how you live!
Thank you 💕💕
Hi Kyra, 🙂 thank you for your helpful video.
I stopped buying: jewelry (because I don’t really wear it much), cds, dvds, any nail products, and purses,
I really wish I was as disciplined lollll you inspire me...I'm getting there though 🤣
Melanie Ovalles “I only use concealah”
Sorry to flood your comment section.
i love your accent when you leave the er/ar off . adorable!
Thank you 💕 I get a mix of good and bad comments when it comes to my accent lol yea us Boston people never pronounce our R’s 😂
i love it 🥰 i love the differences in people
Me too! Its so endearing!
Kyra Ann I live in Boston!
I'm an hour away from Boston and i try so hard to pronounce the "r"
I just found your channel today and I’ve watched several of your videos. You are a very likable, mature young lady who is very grounded and responsible ! I commend you and respect your decision to be minimalistic!
Loved this video! I've already stopped buying some of these to use up what I currently have. I'm also glad to have finally found a vegan youtuber that doesn't preach and mention it every 5 seconds. Love that!
I stop buying incense and candles because their parfumes are very toxic (it exists tons of articles on it)
You're so beautiful and bright. Also, very interested in your minimalism journey. Subscribed!
When you have kids and you wanna purchase holiday decor it's always smart to buy the decor the day after the Holliday. They always have deals for the decor then.
Love this! As I get older I realize what brings value to my life and what I can live without. Love ☀️☀️💛
Didn't realise I was a minimalist till I saw this. I loveee this
Awesome video ! U r a great inspiration.
Do updated house tour, it’s always nice to ur minimalist apartment.
Thank you for making this video, its inspirational and an eye opener, I'm currently moving out of my place and omg I never thought how much crap one has. Definitely cutting back on stuff. Love love thank you
Dryer balls are the truth! No paper towel gets easy after a month. I love this video 😊
You are an inspiration
your video quality is getting better and better ! in love with the video illustrations you are talking about - so proffesional
Great idea thank you 💕
Great idea thank you 💕
you sound so wise and knowledgeable thank you for your advice!
Hold up, why is no one talking about “swifter pads” 😂😂
Fun fact, plastic bags are not for free either, so most of the people don't take them anymore because you have to ask the cashier for the bags and they are too lazy for that.
can't go to work today because of a sore eye but i'm now in bed watching this video with my only good eye hahaha
I can go on but this comment would be very long, haha.
just my version:
coloring books - get 2
beauty products - collect and recycle empties only get brushes
logo tshirts - limit or cut
nail polish - get rainbow and holo taco
soda and juice - just cut back
comforter sets - get plain comforter and deco pillows
extra dishes - get a set for extra people over
cologne
My problem with name brand stuff is I hate the logo covered stuff but I like the quality of the brands. It’s hard to get logoless options, in store unless I go thrift but sometimes I don’t feel like riding the bus around town to find it.
Being natural and simple is always beautiful.
The flip flop thing was so specific but exactly what I've been doing for YEARS. I just don't like showing my feet, only when the weather is too hot will I take out my sandals/flip flops haha.
Wow! You have so inspired me! You are so young and so disciplined! Admire you. I will get rid of all the stuff that's suffocating me! Thanks!
I only buy things I need and never EVER pay full price. I look for 50% off plus. Saves me so much money!
Same... every time I did, it would go on sale a few weeks later. I quickly learned to stop paying full price.
