    Ok, so what about emergencies? Do you have a bug-out bag, or a 72 hour back-up kit? What would you do if there was a horrendous snow storm and you lost power for 3 days? No gas, or electricity? Or if there was a black-out during the summer, or earthquake, etc? What is your plan for safety in an emergency?

    • @Kyraann.
      @Kyraann.  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a backpack burner which I have 5 gas cans. But my landlord already told me that if the power goes out there’s a back up generator (just Incase) so there’s no need to worry. Not sure what I bug out bag is or a 72 hour back up kit is 🤷🏻‍♀️.

    • @madzabinga8382
      @madzabinga8382 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kyraann. a "bug-out" bag is a bag that you would take with you if you had to evacuate your house or neighborhood due to an emergency like a flood, chemical spill, earthquake, etc. You would have to shelter with friends or family outside of the "danger zone" or go to a local school, or church to seek shelter until the conditions are safe(check out footage of shelters in Houston during the last series of floods, and ask yourself if you are prepared for that possibility). A 72 hour kit is basically similar, but usually is a collection of things including food that you would use if you had to shelter in place for 3 days. As in, you could not leave your house due to extreme conditions. I know these things are not fun to think about and the excess seems to crash with the minimalism idyll. However, none of us are exempt from emergencies and natural disasters. You should spend some time researching what you might need in certain situations and figure out what and how you would be prepared for multiple situations. I'm not suggesting you run out to the local camping store and stock up, but just having some extra canned and packaged foods on hand just in case is pretty smart. Also, a bag with extra clean clothes a blanket, flashlight in your car is smart too.

    That idea about not buying medicine is so smart, I might need to start doing that cause I usually don't take it. Plus there are super small travel versions of things like advil that I could buy if for some reason I really need. I have so much medicine I haven't used I just bought cause I feel like I had to.
    I do think everyone should have wound care items like bandages and cause and neosporin at least. Most everything else can be bought in smaller sizes if they are really needed.

    I agree with everything except for the fact that you should buy new stuff like the clothes hangers. Yes, the wooden ones are nice but it would be more environmentally friendly to search for second hand ones; usually, thrift stores have a lot left over. Also, and here I don't know if you meant throwing them out completely, plastic containers that you don't want to use for food anymore can be used for other storage purposes. I like these kinds of videos because they are a source of information and inspiration but I think it's important to mention that switching to a better version of something does not necessarily mean throwing the old one away.

      Thats a great question, so when it comes to my lifestyle I guess I'm considered a neat freak/minimalist. When he's a minimalist but not as crazy as me when it comes to the neat side. Don't get me wrong he's neat and clean and I'm above and beyond. We both have a ton of things in common specially when it comes to what we put in our homes. We both don't own a tv and agree that if we want to watch something we can just watch it on the laptop. So needless to say he is a minimalist but in his own way. I'm ok even if he wasn't into that because at the end of the day I love him no matter what.

      There are now literally 100s of cup choices out there, gals! I have a Diva cup and I can't feel it if it's in properly, unlike tampons which I always felt and always leaked on me anyway. If I were younger, I'd spend some time researching cups for myself, but since I'm nearing menopause I'm more interested in the underwear.

    $50 every month? My goodness, I just bought $50 worth of underwear, socks and a sweater for my boyfriend for the next couple of years and I felt guilty for spending that much. I can't imagine on pads. (I only get my period once a year so I can't relate on buying pads/tampons every month)

    • @Kyraann.

      Yea my period lasts about 5 days once a month. I never missed a month. My sisters get one period a year to but they have a thyroid problem :( so it cause then to only have there period once a year. They hate it. Trust me I wish I would’ve switched years ago to these reusable pads, I would’ve saved a ton of money by now.
