  • I was recently invited to give a talk about a topic of my choosing to the Sheffield University Reggae Society, so long as it was educational and informative. I entirely forgot about this commitment and totally made up a talk on the day, this is the result...
Part two with the Q&A session will follow next week.

Great talk, I've been unintentionally intentional with my sound system design so far so its nice to know I'm on the right track and actually thinking about things in the right order without realising it.

Thanks. its interesting and educational . Nice story about the coasters at beginning.
I try to think about intentional design (good name, didn't know of that phrase before. thx.) with my stuff but it also gets overwhelming thinking of all the details and reach a point of sod it and do something, considering all the things i thought of and see how it turns out, with a view of if things go well i can make a mark 2.
I can see how cad would make it easier to predict if a design is the best layout and if it would all fit.
I wonder though if people would be put off by the diy hack look of mark 1 and not hire ones self again...? there for not reach a point of funds for mark 2...? Would be fascinated to hear more about your experiences.

You raise a good point, the issues of non intentional design are prevalent across multiple different areas of the PA world. No disrespect was intended, in fact I felt I was quite careful to give reasons for all my opinions. This talk focuses on reggae sound systems solely (and not other areas of audio) because I was delivering it a University reggae society and I was trying to keep things relevant to their knowledge base.
