They shop for boots at the same place lol. There were a shortage of white boots in 1980 cuz the scorps bought them all in 1979 apparently. Nice seeing this older footage thank you for sharing.

Not to mention.. Blue Tiger print french~cut the with matching blue Pleather 💙or Spandex + the white Beatles boots. God how I miss the late seventies early eighties metal band garb, costume..stage apparel whatever.
Very Cool for the time frame!!!!
Shoot.. you wouldn't have had Eddie Van Halen and/or numerous other virtuoso are slayers if it weren't for Scorpions ( Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth, Mathias Jaabs) set the bar High enough for others to work n follow.. Or simply give up.
The list is too Numerous to even begin to go any further. But if their a badass playing orchestrated/neo classical metal of Any form rest assured they studied the Scorps rules of Metal Bliss!!

Matthias Jabs , for over 40 Years most underrated Guitar Player in the World !!!! And what did he do ? He smiles , he´s the only underrated Guiter Hero who smiles on and on , a very symphatic Human being ,love him since i know him , thnx Matthias to be my Hero for over 40 Years .

You're massively right. I ve always hated Matthias Jabs haters, and schenker/jon roth-aholics who dare to undermine the only axeman capable of pulling off the other two s leads when no one trusted Jabs would, and what Matthias did? Blasted his great sound and excelled. For the record, the man stood out from 120+ auditioners to the spot. He truely is a hero and has made it through all kinds of adversity by douchebags who thought he had to only fill shoes, get the fuck out of here, the man made footprints bigtime.

Always surprised "Always Somewhere" wasn't a big hit for the band. I'm usually not into power ballads, but this one and Judas Priest's "Before The Dawn" remain two of my favorite songs of all time.

    • @daddyrockoable
      @daddyrockoable 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Hell yeah man, I had Hell Bent on vinyl when I was 14, listened to it every damn night. I always loved Before the Dawn, and would listen to it twice in a row. Rob's vocals are haunting. Which you could say about most of their tunes. But Before the Dawn is the rare Priest ballad, which makes it even more special. IMHO.

They didn't have it very easy being from Germany, and yet they persevered and never backed down. I was lucky to see them play live, and I'm going to see them this year. 2. Nils Patrick - i know him. I love Astral Doors, but man i said TODAY. modern day singers. New young kids. Nils Patrick is 52 years old. That's the old school generation.
      3. Janne Christoffersson - he's alright. Kinda has that slightly cringy, modern sounding attempt at old-school kind of voice. Incomparable to the 80's.
      4. Michael Poulson - no dude. Just no. Not even close
      5. Mathias Blad - he's not bad, but nothing special. Can't compare to Midnight, Ralph Scheepers or Tony Martin
      6. Nils Molin - nothing mindblowing. Just like Janna, he has that modern sounding voice and modern style of singing and doesn't fit classic heavy metal. A generic and often heard type of voice. Just how a lot of female metal singers don't have a lot of diversity in their voices and delivery. A lot of them just sound like evanescence with heavy music behind them. I'm not sexist, this is just my observation based on what i hear.

How was the name of that woman presenting the OGWT??? So many bands she introduced in their first steps, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Ian Dury etc etc.
one of the greatest music shows ever in late 70s

Fantastic Album but the first without Uli Jon Roth. He was very underrated.

The first song almost sounds like a Lynyrd Skynyrd ballad. I like it. This is great footage. Thanks to whoever uploaded it and to TH-cam.
TH-cam is like a time machine where I get to go back and see performances I missed the first time from years ago.
    Great to see finally!

Saw Scorpions first American show at this time. World Series of Rock at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Scorpions, ac/dc, Journey, Thin lizzy, Ted nugent and Aerosmith.
I love Uli Roth era Scorpions but "Always Somewhere" may be my favorite song.

Los vi en concierto en Madrid en los 80, pero lo mejor de los Scorpions fue con Uli Jon Roth punteando y Klaus jovencito.
