Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeaaaah! Oh wait, wrong game... The level of energy here is immediately more apparent, that is for sure. Seems like a "simple" board, one that even I could do OK at. I doubt I would come close to your score though... (Yeah, he stuck it to the man! Making them drive taxis!)
The score I got in this game is actually nowhere close to the best ones I've had on Pinball Arcade. My top score on the Android version is about 41 million. I had gone through three Jackpots, four Millions, and two Crossover Bonuses with consistently 500,000-point skill shots. The WIi U version controls different and looks different, so it gets hard to get used to. Also, Gorbachev was a taxi passenger, not the driver. In any case, Taxi IS a pretty simple machine with simple rules. The artwork helps explain the rules well enough, as long as you know what it is a taxi does (which might not be quite the case as we head into the 2020s with services like Uber and Lyft).
I've been wondering... When a game ends, a lot of tables seem to take the last 2 digits of your score and then roll a number and see if they match... What happens if they do?
Ordinarily, if the numbers match, you get a free game. This is known as a "Match Game," because the game comes from matching the numbers. But since you're not paying per game in Pinball Arcade, it doesn't mean anything. Despite it looking like a 1-in-10 chance, it's actually rigged. The default for most machines is actually 7% and can be adjusted down to 0% or up to 50%, though modern machines can bring it up to 100%. Modern machines also skip the match sequence entirely if the game is set to free play. Thank you for asking--please keep asking, because I want to know everything that would be confusing about pinball to a non-player.
