Sultan Sikandar Butshikan's tyrannical rule led to the destruction of many Hindu temples, including the magnificent Martand Sun Temple. Despite valiant efforts by defenders like Ahaldwar, the temple succumbed to siege after 13 months of relentless attack.

I live in ANANTNAG near martan sun temple. It is not only about religion but also about the culture of we Kashmiri's . Before 1 year I wrote to our PM requesting him to renovate and rebuild it . It was destroyed by an invader( sikander Shah miri) of dardic origin

Good news is that the government has said that it will restore martand surya mandir , probably after the 2024
hope in the next 5 years the bjp government restores as many temples as possible especially krishna janambhoomi temple , kashi vishwanath and martand temple

It is crazy how many temples they have destroyed. Temples were educational institutions. They were center for art, science, dharma and holistic development of human individual. If they taught us how much blood our ancestors shed and still survived from 1947, India would have changed her face. Ever since from my school education days, I use to feel different from inside and how I act outside. Most educated people are so uprooted from Indian history, that they are acting as Western pseudo - personality. Cultural Suicide is still going on, you will see in the character of people that they are not serious about India. Rather they have very shallow childish personality. It is crazy how much destruction we have gone through for so many centuries and we have survived, and I am watching this video. That Heart is still beating, I am happy for it. It gives me some hope, it is enough. Dharma and Temple were center of everything. They must be revived, and world greatest libraries and scholars should again be in the libraries around temples. The libraries should have ancient character, with high quality man and woman. We need new Yogis, Rishis, great Scientists, Mathematicians, Extraordinary Artists, Architects, Military Strategist, Polyglot, Musicians, Dancers with Spiritual Significance, New dress code for modern civilization responsibilities and standard of integrities, New Eternal Maha Shivas to build Ellora Caves like temples, New Cosmogonies, New literature, New Poetry. All the excellence of great human endeavor must be flooded on the land with Brhmshakti.

I think I've read recently somewhere govt has announced to reconstruct it. Hope it will be as good as it used to be ,after all sun temples have its own legacy in india, be it Konark sun temple, modhera sun temple etc. They're outstanding❤❤

Why not, The oldest Sun Temple in India can be reconstructed to its original style and acrhitecture by forming trust of devotees with the backing of state and central Govts.

Martand (Sun) Temple was a very huge temple that it's reflection used to be felt at Srinagar i;e reflection from South of Kashmir to Central Kashmir.
