    I’ve mentioned this before, but it is worth repeating. I appreciate how you show and not tell, how to do things. No constant asks for likes, subscriptions, visiting your Amazon store, etc. We have neighbors from Nepal who speak little or no English. I showed them your channel, and they got the biggest smiles on their faces as they didn’t have to listen, just watch.
    I am curious why you usually start seeds in cells or other containers the repot them in larger 2-3 inch pots before going into the actual growing containers. Is there a reason you couldn’t plant the seeds in the 3 inch container to start, thus eliminating a step? Thanks!

      Love to hear it. Really appreciate your inspiring feedback💚. The sowing method is just my preference and showing what has been working best for me. By sowing in a trays, I can choose the strongest/healthiest seedlings to prick out, and also pricking out gives me the opportunity to add fertile soil to the seed mix to make it rich for the seedling growth. If you choose to start in plugs, which you sure can, I suggest to start feeding seedlings with diluted liquid fertilizer when they are 3-4 inch tall so they grow stronger. This is because seed starting mixes usually don't contain any nutrients. And I almost never start in rich soil to minimize the chances of "damping off" which is a fungal disease. I hope this helps and thank you very much for your comment! And please say hi to your Nepalese neighbors!👋

      Fantastic! You won't be disappointed with this variety, one of the best tomatoes I've grown. Yes, you can start now, they will do great by the time they are ready for their new home in SoCal. These are early maturing and will have fruits before the heat season in end of July-August. Happy growing and blessings to you and Sophie🤗

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The only pollination I do is the one I showed in the video, just shaking the flowers. If the flowers drop, it can be for other reasons, mainly for drought stress (under-watering) or feeding too much nitrogen. Try to keep plants well-watered and use low nitrogen fertilizer (for example 2-5-3). hope this helps and thank you for getting in touch.

    I love your channel! I'm in a new home - sad to discover not much full sun growing areas. Is it possible to grow indeterminate tomatoes in 25 gallon bags (I purchased some Italian heirloom seeds before I realized my limited growing locations) using your same growing method?
    The area with the sun is slightly sloped. Would you recommend I use landscape fabric staples to hold the bags in place? I can also keep the tomatoes from getting super big by pruning. It's my first year so I am trying to be prepared and hoping for the best outcome. Thank you!

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So glad you love the channel😊 you can use the same method for indeterminate variety however you will need to add cages or stakes to support the vines. I 'd guess that 25 gallon bags would be very heavy and not sure how they would hold in a sloped area. Yes the clips would help to keep them in place, but since the bags don't have firm walls, you may see bags slightly lean downward . Good thing is that 25 gallon is large enough to grow few plants in one bag. Wishing you a great harvest and thank you so much for your comment!

This variety is an early maturing variety and you can start planting outdoors when night temperature is constantly above 50F (10C) Hope this helps and thank you so much for your comment!😊

    Hi I went through the comments first to see if my question was already there. I live in the Caribbean and my only knowledge of soil is the actual dirt in the ground that we dig up to plant in. To make compose we would use banana peels or any ground provision peels or egg shells. But for sure we do have plant fertilizers that we can add. Is it possible to use that soil that I've mentioned since we do not have different bag soil?
    Thanks for creating great content and teaching is in a very effective way.

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi, Caribbean soil is usually sandy that provides great drainage and can be used for container gardening. However, you will need to add some sort of organic matter to make it fertile. Composted banana or any kitchen scraps are great addition. If available, aged wood chips or forest products would help too. With adding fertilizers, I think you will be able to grow decent vegetables. Happy gardening and thank you so much for your comment!

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So glad that you love the videos. Thank you so much!😊 I think you already know that blossom end rot is due to lack of sufficient calcium in the soil. If the fertilizer you are using doesn't provide needed calcium, you can add Oyster shell flour, or for a quicker effect add Garden lime to the soil (both links in my amazon page www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-3dd9a3b6/list/3OOR0YYL58Y0Z?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d . Make sure you water plants after adding them. Also, there is nothing wrong with the effected tomatoes, just discard the bottom part.

    Do you need a greenhouse to start seeds inside? Or grow lights?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on the weather and the light source after seedlings pop up. For the start, sow and keep seed tray in room temperature. Once the seedlings emerge, then you need to decide where to keep them. Is the weather outside below 50F (10C) in the mornings? If yes, keep them inside, and if not, take them outside for morning sunlight. Bring them inside at nights only if it drops below 40-50F. In very cold weathers, you can either keep them in a greenhouse, or keep them indoors. If you decide to keep them inside, then you will need to provide strong light source - a grow light with high output will do the job amzn.to/4ayeG12 . I strongly recommend to expose them to sunlight. The easiest choice is to keep seedlings outdoor in a clear storage tote and clear lid with 3-4 holes on the side walls. They will stay warm, get the sunlight and grow stronger and healthier. Hope this helps. happy growing and thank you for getting in touch!

    Don't let your tomato's ripen on the vine!!! Pick them as soon as they "turn." The plant just want's to make "seed." Production slows when the plant accomplishes making "seed." Keep picking them and the plant keeps producing!!!
