Thank you very much for your supporting comment! These are bush tomatoes called "Aztek". They are allegedly from Czech Republic. Very productive variety, as you can see they can get you plenty of tomatoes even when grown in small contianers, great for small spaces or balcony garden. I grew these on the roof of shed, exactly like they are on thumbnail 🙂
Very productive variety, I was also removing bottom leaves as the plants grew, when there was a leaf that was not getting sunlight anymore and started to go pale, I removed it. That keeps plants tidy and allows for better ventilation 🙂
These are one of the best varieties. They are very nutrients-demanding. I grew them in almost pure compost and still they grew crazy when I fertilized them.
You plant tomatoes in pots for a lot of fruit, you take care of the plants very well. what kind of tomato is this in the place you call it? Is it cherry tomatoes?
Hello, you have you tried Neem oil? When you see the first leaf having a leaf miner sings, cut it off and spray the plant with neem oil. It is supposed to disrupt their life cycle.
Hello, the plastic wrap keeps the seedling trays moist, so I don't have to water the soil again until the seedlings emerge from it. Coffee grounds contain nutrients (NPK) that tomatoes need to thrive. Pruning the bottom is not neccessary, You can keep it, but first, I wanted to add compost when the soil settled, and second, the bottoms are very likely to grow few small fruits, because there is just not enough sunlight going through the whole plant's foliage and reaching them. Also, they are first to get mold on when rainy weather with cold mornings arrive. Since I've been growing in mostly compost I don't fertilize much. Just here and there let's say twice during the flower production and then twice during the fruit forming.
Hello, spots on leaves or on fruit? There are diseases that can cause that, most of them are caused by fungus or bacteria. Keeping tomato plants tidy and regulary pruned can prevent fungal diseases. Also not planting them anywhere near potatoes.
Wow, i tried growing Aztec last year, but they weren't as bushy and with so much fruit as yours. The grew tall and thin plants. I wonder what i did wrong.
Do you have to prune these at all / remove any of the branches / leaves? I've got some of these growing now and the foliage is so densely packed, I don't know how the tomatoes will fit in there 😂
Well, you don't have to prune bush tomatoes, but I do remove very bottoms (leaves and side shoots) because those are first to get some disease in rainy weather when nights get colder. Also they as the upper foliage grows, they are getting lesser and lesser sunlight. I am growing 2 bush tomato varieties right now and they are getting really packed right now, but the plants will handle that. Sometimes the fruit gets really stuck between branches that it's pretty hard to get it out 😄
I've never experienced such thing with egg shells. I don't know any downside of using them in containers or in open garden. Though, they are not any crucial component of the soil and their minerals release is very slow. But some people may benefit from it, especially when growing plants in sandy soil, which often contains less calcium. Thank you very much" You are awesome too! 🙂
They are more on the sweet side and their skin is not thick. Their taste is similar to classic cherry tomatoes with less intensity but these are more juicy.
Hello, yes I was using compost tea and chicken manure fertilizer with these. I pollinated with hand, just slightly shake the flowers with fingers, so you can see the pollen falling.
Hello, always check the soil. When top 2cm is dry, then water them. Inconsistent watering causes tomatoes to crack, so it could be misleading to generaly say how often. It depends on the weather and also stage of their growth. When they are growing fruits, they need much more water then when they are smaller plants.
@@youtubeaccount-gp5ml Well if you want to grow tomatoes indoors you either need artificial grow light, or sunny windowsill, very sunny 🌞 If growing during winter, You will definitely need artificial grow lights.
Is it possible for pot be a bit smaller. I just ask because of space in my apartment, I have now 10 days grown Aztek and know that root is biggest then any other plant that size.
@@Daarreee Hello, well they have quite some root system for not so big plants. I am growing some bush tomatoes right now in 7liter (1.8gal) and I think aztek would handle too. Although, if You want to have decent harvest, some sort of fertilizer is recommended (assuming the soil is of higher qualitty too) You can grow this variety even in 3-4 liter containers, but It will be much smaller, produce much less and You will probably have to water it multiple times a day. At leas on sunny days.
I sow multiple (3-4) seeds per tray and then thin them, either to one plant per tray spot, or later when transplanting them to containers. The earlier you do it, the easier for the plant to adapt.
@@Liap if i took say a can ok cokes worth of chicken manure to a bucket of water would that be to much , how much manure do you use , as a rough guide, please can you show this on your next video thanks
@@lazycarper Roughlythe bucket is filled 1/3 with chicken manure and 2/3 is water. And then I dilute the fertilizer by 1:10 ratio for young plants (so they get used to it) and increasing the concentration as the plants grow, up to 1:5 ratio.

Neem is great, but as I understand it, don't spray during pollination.

I am not a native speaker, but I think pot is usually smaller and round shape, and container is bigger and can have different shapes.

How can you make the plant short? Or this is some particular kind of tomatoes? Mine grew so tall.
