Dave Weckl is unquestionably one of the greatest drummers ever. His playing is the evolution of the art of playing the drum set. While some may argue who's better, who's faster none can question Dave's untouchable skill. He's one of the most important drummers of our generation and his playing continues to evolve and grow!

I chukle when Weckl says played the charts with Buddy's band, Buddy never used charts namely because he couldn't read music, he was just one of a kind, pure talent, one thing that I've read sticks (no pun intended) in my mind is after a performance in London in the late 60's in front of all the great British drummers, he said "don't ask me any technical stuff of what I just played, I probably know more about the E-Type Jaguar", to the jaw gapping drummers that just watched him play.

Dave for me one of the best drummers. I share time parallels and will not compare it with Buddy because Buddy - a very different school - the basis of the foundations, and it will always be the Great. Dave is so versatile, interesting, very deep drum delivers educational material, with all the phrases feel sophistication and intelligence. Me he had a strong impact when in 1990 I got his first instructional video. Just want to say thank you so much for what he does - it's great!

Ah, c'mon! "Smoke" Buddy?? Dave is perhaps the best all-around drummer out there now, but what's with the Buddy put down? You can love Weckl all you want, but to imply that Dave is that much superior to Buddy is really ridiculous.
