⏺ Karakoram Range, The second highest mountain range in the world
In the Karakoram Mountains, "Karakoram" comes from the Turkic word meaning "black rock mountain". The Karakoram Mountains are the most developed mountain glaciers in the world and one of the famous mountains in Asia.
It extends from the easternmost part of Afghanistan to the southeast for about 480 kilometers. The width is approximately 240 kilometers and the length is 800 kilometers. The average altitude is more than 5,500 meters. It is the place with the largest concentration of the longest glaciers outside high mountains and high latitudes in the world. The borders of Tajikistan, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India all radiate within this mountain range, giving this region enormous geopolitical significance. Karakoram originates from the transliteration of the word "black river" or "black water" in Xia language, which appeared in English works in the early 19th century.
⏺ CHINA NATIONAL HIGHWAY G219
Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, traditionally refers to National Highway 219 (while the central section of National Highway 216 is called the second line of Xinjiang-Tibet Highway), it starts from the zero-kilometer stele in Yecheng County, Kashgar, Xinjiang in the north, and ends in Lazi County, Shigatse, Tibet in the south. The 2,140-kilometer stele in Wuxiang is where the China-Nepal Highway section of National Highway 318 intersects, also known as Yela Highway. You can go to Lhasa instead of going from Urumqi to Lhasa, which is an important route to Tibet.

The China Pakistan Borderline Highway G219 is located in the Karakoram Mountains and is known as one of the highest and most difficult borders in the world. This line was built to connect China with Pakistan and has a total length of about 1,300 km (about 810 miles). It starts from Kashgar, Xinjiang region, China and ends in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. Border line G219 is an important route in transportation and trade between the two countries.
China Pakistan Borderline Highway G219 was built over a period of time from 1959 to 1978. This project was implemented through cooperation between China and Pakistan.
Regarding construction contractors, the project is mainly undertaken by China. The key unit in building the G219 border is China's 11th Construction Corps. On the Pakistani side, the main contractor is Pakistan Railway Construction and Pakistan Highway.

Truly it is, not just hard to build, and also the maintenances of it is a challenge.
You can see there are so many heavy machines along the highway, especially the Xinjiang section. They're all full-time standing by getting the job done to make it clear.

There are two highways. 219 is probably the longest HW in China extending to 10,000 km , starting from the NW tip of china, next to Mongolia, all the way gracing India and Myanmar, ending near Hynan. It doesn't go to Pakistan. It travels 180 km through places claimed by India named Aksai Chin.
The other one HW, crosses the Kunjerub pass, in to Baltistan, now under Pakistan and proceeds to Islamabad.

I just toured this highway from pakistan side. If from China side road needs repair, I hope the govt spends some money for safety. I'm sure there will be many heavy trucks going to pakistan due to hydropower dams (2 dams) under construction joint venture? between china n Pakistan.

Please prioritize the completion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Unfortunately, some Pakistani politicians and administrators are facing challenges in advancing this project due to various factors.
I completed this drive in a minute, from Pakistan to China. Highway is exaggerated word to this barren terrain.
