I am a RN who had a gambling addiction for 20 yrs. It has been a lot of hard work to get rid of the shame that comes with that. Now I enjoy camping in my minivan and am also grateful for all that I have and enjoy nature ( my healing). 🥰🥰

You have guts and courage and I admire your common sense and your 'joy du vivre' . Your story of years before, really got to me. I had a juridical profession and ended up working as a factory worker for two years. I never worked so hard in my life. Things are better now, except for flashbacks, guilt, anger, mostly towards myself. But I'm getting " there" , wherever it is that life takes me. There is much to be thankful for, just like you said. I think you are an amazing person Rowan. I think I'll stick around and travel with you for awhile, if I may. It's an honor to meet you ma'am.
Rowan, the world needs more people like you. We all make mistakes, and there are a lot of good reasons why we were led down the path to get there, but not enough of us can pick ourselves up, come up with a plan, and act on it afterward. Rowan, you have a lot of lovely experiences that never would have had without car camping. You are so inspiring to people including me. Addictions are so hard because they are addicting. Congratulations that you have conquered yours and can see you cherish God's blessings to you. i thought for a while that car camping was just impossible and simply dreary. You make it seem so normal and homey to live in a car. And, like you said you can do everything like cooking and having your strawberry plant and dye yarn and make homemade cocoa butter and other things that you could have done in a life you had before. It isn't just sitting in a car camper crying your eyes out like I thought it was like. It is through your eyes, seeing that life has good things in it too that I would never have known because that is the way you are and showed people how to live and make a future anyway. One more year to go and I'll be free to put my years-long dream of traveling in a van in place. Ha, need to find the van first! Your open honesty is so wonderful, so refreshing and a real gift! I had shame after losing everything. Now I look forward, not back. Here's a bit of wisdom I have on my refrigerator: Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living. I admire you.

I truly wish you the greatest happiness, Rowan. I'm a mother, too. My youngest of 3 children is 18 not very long from now. Traveling is definitely up my alley as well.
I can relate although my story may differ in some ways I too am living out of my vehicle a truck that I'm still making payments on I was living in government apartment and I'm on social security and I made the decision because they kept going up on my rent it got to the point that I knew it was time to leave and now it has over 9 months i stay and sleep overnight in homeless shelters in order to save up money i am currently looking for a more suitable place to live but like Rowan life will deal all of us situations at one time or another I've seen it happen to others as well but I never kicked or judged anyone for those reason because I've learned it happen to anybody but I discovered this uploaded video and found it encouraging thank you for sharing it.
And there are lots of people rebuilding an I'm thankful to meet people that are going thru some of the same an I'm learning God is the ultimate in this journey for me
I so admire you. Thank you for being so honest. I just started watching your YT videos last week or so. This is the first short I've seen and yes it answered so many questions I had about why you would choose to live in your vehicle. I'm just a tad short of 70 and live on my own with fixed income. You have given me much peace of mind in all the ways you've shone how you can convert a life to be what you choose and how to live it. Love watching all the ways you've come up with to make your car work for you. I have pretty much the same mindset. I will get by and thrive. Or just stubborn lol. I have tremendous respect for you because you found the courage to pick yourself up, dust yourself down, and change direction. I'm not religious, but I believe that we are all on a learning journey, and, for reasons that may not yet be clear to you, it was necessary for you to change direction. I have learned a good deal from you.
I get it now... i get why I was drawn to you on TH-cam even though you are in a different half of the globe away. I see me in your story... so so similar although I am a little older. I now have a whole new level of admiration for you and what you do and how you think because I have the same background as you minus the prestige part. I ache to live rural off the land off grid and simply self sufficient. I want to travel in a mini van until that happens and earn an income on the road. Ive just started a little art business i can do anywhere. I was/am a single mum... my daughters are adults now so its just me and my dog... i just need a bit more money to but a mini van (here in Australia they are called Volkswagen caddy) so one of those or similar. As soon as that happens I will be living my true life on the road... the life that makes my heart sing... my true spiritual journey as one with nature. I too live in gratitude and see the glass half full but you saying at least we have the glass blew my mind... so obvious yet id never thought of it. Anyway sorry for the essay and I cant wait to see you on your land living your dream and the journey you have to get there. First-time viewer here. I truly admire your honesty and vulnerability. It's not easy to do that with strangers, so I know how courageous you are. I'm sorry that you have struggled, but it sounds like you have a plan for the future. Addiction is a symptom of mental struggle. It's nothing to be ashamed about, although others try to make us feel less than for it. I always think that there for the grace of God, go I. I haven't had to try and navigate addiction, but I grew up with both of my parents being alcoholics. My mom left when i was 18 months old. The 6 children stayed with Daddy, who was an angry alcoholic. Being the child of someone with an addiction gives us unhealthy coping skills. I've employed some of those over the years and ended up in more than one pickle. I'm 71 now and using the sunset of my life to just love on my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. I love that you are real with yourself. I'm reminded of that new Jelly Roll song that says, "I'm not ok, but it's all gonna be alright." This moment may seem so overwhelming, but it helps to remember that life is fluid, and if we give it a moment, it will change. Bless you on your journey. ❤🦋

I’m so proud of you for your sobriety. As a person who lost the most important in my life at the hands of a distracted driver (drunken driver), I’ve had to learn more about addiction in order to forgive the man who killed my Mom. Addiction in any form is one of the hardest things to overcome so I applaud you. Keep shining as the best example for not only your Son, but for yourself….you deserve everything you’ve built.

This is exactly why I came across your channel, I really feel like things happen for a reason and it’s not just a coincidence. Last night I was wondering why you chose to live in your car and do this and this morning this video popped up (Jesus really does answer our questions and thoughts, or maybe it’s TH-cam that answers, lol) and I know now that our paths crossed because we are so the same my new friend. Like you, I’m on a sober journey also and have been since 2016 (clean since then) and had a lucrative job (in the pharmacy field) and lost it due to my addiction issues and my life has changed so much for the better going on this journey I’m on and even though I used to make a lot of money, I honestly never had anything to show for it so it’s like I didn’t ever even make it, if that makes sense! Anyway I get long winded but I just wanted to tell you how much your videos mean to me and have kept me going the past few days cuz it’s been a struggle lately with my health problems to even get out of my house sometimes to go door dash but you inspire me and thank you for that, I know I ramble but, yeah! My drinking had me on the brink of losing everything but luckily I still have it although my spouse divorced me and moved out we still maintain a relationship so if I continue to stay sober who knows how it may work out eventually.

I'm a mother, too. My youngest of 3 children is 18 not very long from now.
Traveling is definitely up my alley as well.
I can relate although my story may differ in some ways I too am living out of my vehicle a truck that I'm still making payments on I was living in government apartment and I'm on social security and I made the decision because they kept going up on my rent it got to the point that I knew it was time to leave and now it has over 9 months i stay and sleep overnight in homeless shelters in order to save up money i am currently looking for a more suitable place to live but like Rowan life will deal all of us situations at one time or another I've seen it happen to others as well but I never kicked or judged anyone for those reason because I've learned it happen to anybody but I discovered this uploaded video and found it encouraging thank you for sharing it.
And there are lots of people rebuilding an I'm thankful to meet people that are going thru some of the same an I'm learning God is the ultimate in this journey for me

I so admire you. Thank you for being so honest. I just started watching your YT videos last week or so. This is the first short I've seen and yes it answered so many questions I had about why you would choose to live in your vehicle. I'm just a tad short of 70 and live on my own with fixed income. You have given me much peace of mind in all the ways you've shone how you can convert a life to be what you choose and how to live it. Love watching all the ways you've come up with to make your car work for you. I have pretty much the same mindset. I will get by and thrive. Or just stubborn lol. I get it now... i get why I was drawn to you on TH-cam even though you are in a different half of the globe away. I see me in your story... so so similar although I am a little older. I now have a whole new level of admiration for you and what you do and how you think because I have the same background as you minus the prestige part. I ache to live rural off the land off grid and simply self sufficient. I want to travel in a mini van until that happens and earn an income on the road. Ive just started a little art business i can do anywhere. I was/am a single mum... my daughters are adults now so its just me and my dog... i just need a bit more money to but a mini van (here in Australia they are called Volkswagen caddy) so one of those or similar. As soon as that happens I will be living my true life on the road... the life that makes my heart sing... my true spiritual journey as one with nature. I too live in gratitude and see the glass half full but you saying at least we have the glass blew my mind... so obvious yet id never thought of it. Anyway sorry for the essay and I cant wait to see you on your land living your dream and the journey you have to get there. You are my favorite youtuber and i honestly look forward to your videos (in a non creep way 😂) thankyou for sharing 😊🌻

First-time viewer here. I truly admire your honesty and vulnerability. It's not easy to do that with strangers, so I know how courageous you are. I'm sorry that you have struggled, but it sounds like you have a plan for the future. Addiction is a symptom of mental struggle. It's nothing to be ashamed about, although others try to make us feel less than for it. I always think that there for the grace of God, go I. I haven't had to try and navigate addiction, but I grew up with both of my parents being alcoholics. My mom left when i was 18 months old. The 6 children stayed with Daddy, who was an angry alcoholic. Being the child of someone with an addiction gives us unhealthy coping skills. I've employed some of those over the years and ended up in more than one pickle. I'm 71 now and using the sunset of my life to just love on my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. I love that you are real with yourself. I'm reminded of that new Jelly Roll song that says, "I'm not ok, but it's all gonna be alright." This moment may seem so overwhelming, but it helps to remember that life is fluid, and if we give it a moment, it will change. Bless you on your journey. ❤🦋

I’m so proud of you for your sobriety. As a person who lost the most important in my life at the hands of a distracted driver (drunken driver), I’ve had to learn more about addiction in order to forgive the man who killed my Mom. Addiction in any form is one of the hardest things to overcome so I applaud you. Keep shining as the best example for not only your Son, but for yourself….you deserve everything you’ve built.

This is exactly why I came across your channel, I really feel like things happen for a reason and it’s not just a coincidence. Last night I was wondering why you chose to live in your car and do this and this morning this video popped up (Jesus really does answer our questions and thoughts, or maybe it’s TH-cam that answers, lol) and I know now that our paths crossed because we are so the same my new friend. Like you, I’m on a sober journey also and have been since 2016 (clean since then) and had a lucrative job (in the pharmacy field) and lost it due to my addiction issues and my life has changed so much for the better going on this journey I’m on and even though I used to make a lot of money, I honestly never had anything to show for it so it’s like I didn’t ever even make it, if that makes sense! Anyway I get long winded but I just wanted to tell you how much your videos mean to me and have kept me going the past few days cuz it’s been a struggle lately with my health problems to even get out of my house sometimes to go door dash but you inspire me and thank you for that, I know I ramble but, yeah! I hope you have a wonderful day and slowly but surely I’m getting through all of your videos

My drinking had me on the brink of losing everything but luckily I still have it although my spouse divorced me and moved out we still maintain a relationship so if I continue to stay sober who knows how it may work out eventually.

Rowan, thank you for sharing part of your story. It's inspiring and interesting. Both of my parents were alcoholic and both were able to attain sobriety during their older years.
