It seems like Walken and Rollins are really kindred spirits when it comes to their work ethic/drive. I know that Henry was thinking "I can relate to that" when Walken was talking about not having any hobbies and just having the work as his consuming focus.
Henry has always been a genius and pioneer and only a few others as smart as him could appreciate what he was doing here back in the day. I will always love him :)
If you go to see him live on his spoken word tour, Henry talks about this meeting with Walken and how he's exactly like he appears in movies. The story about the whole thing is hilarious.
holy fuck. communication can only happen on equal levels. thats what's happening here, This is so far above genius i can't even describe this Interview.
Vases in the background, behind Walken. Years later, when Chelsea Handler interviewed Rollins in Australia, there were vases behind him as guest. Hmm... Hello set dresser?
In alot of his interviews Henry Rollins seems to genuinely represent the excited respectful fan that finally gets to meet this person. Though not always perfect it's quite refreshing to see someone genuinely excited (and nervous) rather than an 'interviewing as a day job' type situtation
Thank you to the ends of the planet for catching that and pointing it out. I nearly fell off of my seat when I heard Chris say that. God that is sweet!
I know what you mean, but this is henry's way of staying in entertainment in the most legitimate way possible, I think. He does a great job of asking very meaningful questions and having only talented guests on his show. It is a far cry from him selling out and hosting TRL or his own SASSY MTV reality show, or some bullshit like that.
How am i supposed to know, that they don't check every comment on some randomly uploaded video by some random guy of whom they've never heard of before? The Leary quote probably went right past you.
@burlearth He usually is very scripted, even in his spoken word performances. I think he's just an absolute perfectionist and doesn't like it when unexpected things happen.
As much as I love Rollin's music, this show is far beneath him and everything that he was suppose to stand for. I am seriously speechless seeing Henry interview people(as cool as the idea of Rollins interviewing Walken). Am I the only one incredibly confused by this dichotomy ?
@GilbertSyndrome You may not - but I know and I have worked with many props technicians & set dressers who are very interested in what viewers see in an interview.
@1Sunnydayze Look at the right, you'll see a vid called. 'Henry Rollins on Christopher Walken." You'll know why he's so serious ahaha. It's Henry talking about this, and what is was like XD
@DominoGray You clearly have no idea about the concept of this show. It's all about Henry interviewing people who genuinely interest them. Some of them are people who are socially/politically active, and others are simply people who make him go "Hmm...I want to to know more about this person." Walken is crazy enough to fit into the latter group.
Wow, the first I've really seen of Walken offscreen. He does seem a little shy, but nonetheless a great guy. I reckon Henry isn't exactly the perfect host, can't quite carry that relaxed air about him, make the guest feel comfortable. I respect Henry, but his interviewing skills are quite wooden, seems like a job interview.
@wildpokermannh Which is usually the sign of a bad interwiewer, it's supposed to be be akin to a conversation not an interrogation or a litany. Rollins just aint' that good a presenter.
sorry Henry, I love you but sometimes you need to react to what your guests are saying to make it seem like you are listening to what they are saying. It looks like you are just waiting to jump in with your next question.
Slurpie_Games yeah it seems rehearsed a bit. Henrys background isn't in interviewing so I wouldn't expect him to be amazing at it but this just seems very amateur
King of New York is far superior to Scarface. In fact I'll go so far as to say Scarface aint that good of a movie. It's very iconic but also very, very simplistic.
There's a certain look in Christopher Walken's eyes like he is amused by the world around him.
And just exactly what WAS he doing here? Did he die?
Why hasn't this John Waters/Christopher Walken team up happened yet? That would be amazing!
Christopher should just walk around everywhere to that music. Hahahaha
I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. :)
Henry Rollins is an intense guy, always has been. That's just his style.
The Dead Zone is my favourite film of his
Vases in the background, behind Walken. Years later, when Chelsea Handler interviewed Rollins in Australia, there were vases behind him as guest. Hmm...
Hello set dresser?
Walken almost seems shy. Still a legend mind u
I want to be hypnotized and enslaved by Walken.
if I ever get to meet Christopher Walken I would ask him how long it took him to learn his lines for "Sleepy Hollow"..........."Raaagggrhh"
I heard that Christopher Walken had a stroke and that is really Kim Jong-Il standing in for him.
Haha Walken plays the same guy in life, as well as movies. His voice owns.
In alot of his interviews Henry Rollins seems to genuinely represent the excited respectful fan that finally gets to meet this person. Though not always perfect it's quite refreshing to see someone genuinely excited (and nervous) rather than an 'interviewing as a day job' type situtation
LOve this actor!!! He is so under rated!!
Thank you to the ends of the planet for catching that and pointing it out. I nearly fell off of my seat when I heard Chris say that. God that is sweet!
Walken's dancing is miraculous. You should see the bit where he wears rubber noses on his toes and dances till dawn.
Fans of Henry are much different than fans of every other artist...
Henry talked later about how he was captivated by walken and often forgot what he was going to ask.
Christopher Walken is the Christopher Walken of everything.
I know what you mean, but this is henry's way of staying in entertainment in the most legitimate way possible, I think. this show is incredible.
His best roll was in Joe Dirt
Loved Joe Dirt! And the Rundown. Christopher Walken always plays himself, basically.
i can usually find it on friday nights...they usually show 2 episodes back to back
One of his best roles was in Dead Man Standing. Great movie that.
My God, I think im getting nuts. I always dream with Chris Walken. He just drive me crazy!!
The man is so starstruck, look at his eyes, he like -
"Ommfg I'm talking to Christopher Walken"
Henry, you rule!!
He's in Jackass. The first one. Offroad tatoo. That's his old band's music playing in the background.
I think people over think this Rollins fan thing. I just like him.
Always a great intro.
I am going to guess that we are the only two Rollins fans on youtube that understand each other. lol
I'm with you 100% Volterator
Walken was a dancer!!
NudeRockENT *IS
RESPECT!
If I get the chance to interview him...i am so asking him if he actually did sharpen his own teeth to play the Hessian.
i don't know which Leary you're talking about, but Timothy Leary published most of his "work" before Bill Hicks was even born.
hahah he was the first singer of black sabbath and he was also in a self titled band. much like danzig. have you heard of ozzfest?
I TRULY LOVE HENRY. HE IS STAR STRUCK HERE.
Sure!
NICE!
Somebody post the John Waters interview, please! That must be pretty entertaining!
@ShawnsterVideos
I personally wouldn't read too much into that, haha.
@1Sunnydayze Look at the right, you'll see a vid called.

You're quite welcome :)
@burlearth I agree, sadly.
Wow, the first I've really seen of Walken offscreen.
He does seem a little shy, but nonetheless a great guy.
I reckon Henry isn't exactly the perfect host, can't quite carry that relaxed air about him, make the guest feel comfortable.

Actually, no he said he was awesome.
@wildpokermannh Which is usually the sign of a bad interwiewer, it's supposed to be be akin to a conversation not an interrogation or a litany. Rollins just aint' that good a presenter.
@1Sunnydayze
I don't know...Chris might bite....
sorry Henry, I love you but sometimes you need to react to what your guests are saying to make it seem like you are listening to what they are saying. It looks like you are just waiting to jump in with your next question.
It looks like the interviews are edited to jump right into the next question after the previous one was answered.
Slurpie_Games yeah it seems rehearsed a bit. Henrys background isn't in interviewing so I wouldn't expect him to be amazing at it but this just seems very amateur
the fatboyslim joke was funny!
@hoppercap What? He looks Scottish to me.
agreed it freaks me out...just go watch some old black flag...ot 'liar' and then watch hi ask a serious question....freakin me out man
King of New York is far superior to Scarface. In fact I'll go so far as to say Scarface aint that good of a movie. It's very iconic but also very, very simplistic.
Craig Hicks Truth. Carlitos Way was a better film too.
hahhahahahahahahahahahahah your joking right?
@jinxdogg3825 Horrible, horrible analogy.
Rollins is a terrible interviewer. Just sounds like a list of questions he has to get thorugh rather than a conversation.
I just don't like Henry Rollins. Not sure why, but I just irrationally dislike him.
this was disappointingly boring
