Fantastic video. As someone learning Verilog and recently purchasing the Basys 3, I will say that you're tutorial is much better than the official videos from Digilent.
Thank you so much. I've been putting off my labs for weeks because I didn't understand how to use Vivado. It didn't help that our LAB 1 was using a SPI on the keypad Pmod kit, which seemed pretty complicated for a first lab. I was able to follow this very easily, even in Vivado 2018.2 and feel much more confident using the software.
Prof. Mughal - What a delight to find your videos. I have my BSEE, however, I graduated over 20 years ago. We didn't have the Basys 3. I would have learned so much more had they been around. Where do I start with your videos? I have a Basys 3 but very little useful information. Do you publish your notes or have you written a guide for the class and lab I could purchase? Thank you for sharing your knowledge so transparently!
hi sir i am creating a project ATHLETES SCOUTING SYSTEM USING FPGA but finding some difficulties in connecting sensorss to my fpga board can you please help
Do you have any of the pdf based notes available, or are they only available to your students? The Udemy course does not seem to be available any more. I'd like to start with the basic logic gates first. Thanks
Which version of Vivado should be used for this, does the version matter? As someone who has zero experience in electronics and fpgas, even this basic tutorial seems very challenging. The biggest issue I am facing right now is I don't know what to search for.
Dear, you can use later version, the interface is not too different. There are many FPGA-related videos on my TH-cam channel, I hope you’ll find them useful.
@@ElectronicswithProfMughal Thanks for the reply. One more question if you have the time. Will learning Basys 3 right now limit my options for the future? Or are the principles similar across Xilinx and Altera for example. My ultimate aim is to end up with an FPGA based high performance cluster in around 3.5 years. As a complete beginner, do you think starting with Basys 3 is a good idea?
Basys 3 board is for beginners but it is very powerful and you can do advanced level stuff. What you should focus upon is developing Verilog HDL coding skills to design digital circuits, create testbench files and verify the logic. Once done, you can implement the logic on any FPGA board.

Hi LeChimp7, Glad that I was able to help.
I'm an undergraduate student in india, I really liked the way you're trying to teach fpga's especially for beginners 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Jogesh :)
thank you !! amazing intro into a hello world for basys3 with vivado.
MisterE thanks MisterE :)
very thorough explanations and an excellent introduction to the principles of FPGAs. Thank you!
Glad you liked it Dear NR.
Thank you! I was lost first day of lab.
Although I had to program BASYS3 in VHDL, this video helped me a lot. Thank you very much :)
did u use xilinx vivado software ??

Which software you used for basys-3 board interfacing.
Vivado
There is someone on TH-cam teaching Basys 3 with VHDL
Does it have to be connected in order to code?
No, you don’t need to unless you want to implement the code onto the FPGA board.
Can you please share this pdf link which you are using
Sorry Yash, I can’t due to few reasons. If there is anything else I can help you with please let me know.
