This was one of those underground ps2 games that not too many people heard about. Different cities to drive to and explore, quests, just a load of fun. and the soundtrack was very well put together and it made the game what it was. Really wish Adventure Avenue was available in the US tho :/
This game is called Road Trip: Adventure it was available in the US (I have it). There was another game made after it- a sequel called Road Trip: Adventure *Avenue* which was not available in the US. In Japan, I believe it was called ChoroQ HG3. Basically Choro Q HG3/RT: Adventure Avenue was cancelled for release in the US and released everywhere else- Japan, EU, UK, etc.
***** Yes I know exactly what you're talking about Cooper. I own all the US ps2 titles of ChoroQ (Gadget Racers, Road Trip, ChoroQ) but I wonder if this European Gadget Racers is playable on the US PS2?
mine were already divorced when I was playing the game, but God it brings back good memories. every time I go to a video game store I buy every copy of this game they have, if they have any
This game is pretty much the textbook definition of a hidden gem. It's got a great soundtrack, fun gameplay,a huge open world, and tons of things to do. It's pretty much Grand Theft Auto if the people were replaced with cars and it'd be less violent.
This game really needs a remake. It's a game about going on a road trip, and one of my favourite parts of road trips is looking through the window. This game would be perfect to be remastered or remade with modern graphics.
From what I’ve heard, the developers have moved on to Anime now, and not really doing video games anymore, citation needed. That said, another developer could recreate it, like what happened with CTR. Here’s hoping.
Best song on E-Radio: 23:50 Best part of that song: The change in the tune at 27:35, from everything at once to just the panpipe solo. The memories, man oh man ❤️
You know. What a great fucking game. An instrumental part of my child hood. I now associate with drugs and alcohol. I wish I could go back to the innocnece of tryna figure out this game
I played the Greatest hits PS2 version (which actually was the same but the case was diferent). That made me realize that it actually sold good, it was bought in Canada.
A friend and I played through this recently in 2 days just for old time sake (were both very mature, grown up adults now who are very mature) Jesus man, it was still so much fun.
you're telling me. i remember this took me YEARS to beat as a kid, then i got corrupt data and the game got scratched. I just recently bought it back and it took me all of three days to beat it again. but i loved every single second, and memories come flooding back just playing it again and hearing this music.
@@NatsukiMogiIsBestGirl I always had Diez and Peo on my team. They were the best, and also they were blue and red which was pretty cool looking, their cars were just awesome
I used to have Peo in my team, too. However, Best's ability to put down blisteringly fast lap times (and the fact that he's a Lamborghini Countach, my favourite car) made him irresistible to me.
This is actually a quick reminder that time is in full swing. Played this for the first time atleast 12years ago. I’m 19 in November. Shits crazy. Nostalgia in its purest form🤘🏻🤘🏻🏴
I bought it on ebay, returned it, bought another copy, cleaned both my fat ps2's from the inside, bought a slim ps2, went through a million different trial and error things with tape to try and make it work, spent 6 bucks to get the disc resurfaced, and then finally resorted to using skateboard grip tape to get it to finally work. I can not even begin to descibe how much of an utterly defeating migraine it was. oh and then I found my childhood copy that had been gone for a decade three months later and it worked first try, but only on the slim PS2 I bought. I can't even make this crap up
WackkaCOInc It seems to be everyone's favourite, including me! Might be a psychological thing since it's the tune at 9am in most cases, and each time you load your save game, it always starts at 9am. But still, the nostalgia is insane 😂
Just completed the game, became president, got all pictures and stamps, got the devil parts, thats 100% completion of the game, just in three days. I just free roam now, just like I used to as a kid when I played this game. Best game on the PS2, ever. 10/10
+TheUKNutter I would love to go on AGDQ, but RTA isnt well known enough, and I reckon that if it was popular, many speedrunners would get around 3 or less hours on it. The main key to speedrunning is to find the best routes throughout the game, generally, the best way in my opinion would be to get the RS Magnum engine, the Jet Turbine and the BIG tyres first, Then free roam to get all the Q coins, and collect stamps along the way.
Adam Thomas Sigh... Why are the games I used to play are unknown to everyone? It's like everyone's obsessed with N64's these days while I'm all like "where's the love for the PS2?" and "who is starfox?"
After digging around a bit I found that the original composer of most of the soundtrack is "Michael Walthius" who has a single 2008 album "Dreaming in Stereo" on Spotify. The tracks "Echoes" and "Dreaming in Stereo" are the most iconic tracks that were eventually remixed and edited slightly by Fumio Tanabe to play seamlessly in the game and loop as BGM rather than the original compositions. Something about the compression and distortion that went into porting it to the tight space of a PS2 disc makes this version feel a bit comfier (warmer and nostalgic) but I would definitely recommend listening to the originals as well.
Great discovery! What I imagine happened was, either Michael or Fumio arranged the MIDI and used some basic PS1/PS2 soundbanks for the Road Trip Adventure OST, then Michael re-used the MIDI later on and produced an album with some modern sample-based instruments. The notes in Michael's versions are nearly a perfect match with the OST, besides things like the flute in Echoes. Edit: I stand corrected, the MIDI was used without Michael's permission. Found this quote by Michael on a different comment section: “What sucks (on top of everything else) is that they are generally miserable recordings. These were originally MIDI files, which sound different when played back on different instruments/soundcards. I don't know what they used to record these, but it's not particularly great. Also, I'd guess that the rest of these songs were ripped off in a similar manner. Someone just found MIDI files on the net and figured they'd use the music and no one would ever know. Lastly, I don't know if this particular version of the game was sold here in the US where I am. I should find a copy - I think I've got an old PS2 around here somewhere. But at the end of the day it's no biggie - my music has been used without permission countless times in various situations. Welcome to the internet. :)”
What a fantastic game, with a absolutely perfect soundtrack. Whether it’s the BGM, the music in races, in any building you went into, and both radio stations whilst roaming the world of RTA, with Peach FM providing us with greatness, this game will forever and always be my favourite game of all time. I’m not sure I’m more passionate about anything as much as I am about this game
Man, I miss this game so much. Definitely one of the best racing games ever made. The soundtrack is just legendary too. I still have my 100% save files on both of my memory cards (though in my second memory card I still need to get the devil engine for Peo). Compared to most games around the time this was made, this game's map was HUGE! Much larger than Vice City from GTA Vice City and Liberty City from GTA III.
After beating the game as a child with my siblings I was roaming in the world looking if there's something more. In the could city there were two mysterious cars that wouldn't move. The one that begged for food and the one that said to give you present if you got all the stamps. At that time getting all the stamps seemed like an impossible task and I tought I could never manage that and the reward must be so epic that I cannot even imagine it. Then, 10 or so years later I come back and play the game from start enjoying every second of it. But I wasen't so eager to get all the stamps because I tought it would ruin my imaginary. But I was too eager to know and looked it up on internet. That was lame to do and the reward was lame but just what you could expect: OP stuff. Then I played to get all the stamps and got the op stuff, did few races with them and closed the game. It was like in the saying: "little boy got dissapointed when he ripped his drumm to see what made it bang"
Guys! I've think I found something pretty interesting (though you might all know this) You know how that in the World Grand Prix, you race against against anonymous vehicles that are never mentioned are seen anywhere else in the game? Well maybe not in HG2, but I found out that the cars you race in the Grand Prix are found in the sequel, HG3. I found that very interesting.
I still like this game even today I consider it one of my top 10 racing games this would be Number 1 its a really great racing game which a lot of people used to play back in the day
When I listen to 23:50 and 38:22 it feels like you put me on a time machine and I go back in 2003, to my childhood. Seriously brings me tears on my eyes... T_T
Can’t speak to the joy this game brought, and the peacefulness of it. Can’t wait to play again. I was genuinely shocked their was no follow up game, to my knowledge. Hera says it best. The most understated soundtrack in the most underrated game :).
this is the second game in the series known as choroq hg2, hg1 would be gadget racers (USA) or penny racers (EU). choroq hg3 was only released japan and eu under the name "gadget racers", it's similar to this one but it doesn't have as much as an open world but it's still worth playing. choroq hg4 is just called choroq
Can’t even say how this soundtrack makes me feel! It makes me feel as emotional as I did playing the game when I was little, I genuinely believe all the time I spent playing this game influenced who I am today in some way, shape or form.
Choro q hg 3 never made it to the US because the sales of hg 2 were just not high enough to promote another release. And the only reason why hg 4 even has an English version to begin with is because someone dedicated so much of their time to get the game properly translated for the emulator. Unfortunately, (outside of choro q wii, which wasn't great anyway) I don't think we will ever see another choro q game release. Long story short, it's just simply not popular enough outside of Japan to be released anywhere else. Hence why there are so many other choro q games (choro q wonderful, choro q works, choro q boats, choro q combat, etc) that never made it out of Japan.
Oh, man. The old days without CoD and online multiplayer features, dem nostalgia. Do you remember when you could play without any high pitched voice yelling at you becuase you found out that he was in the corner shooting at you? Yeah, I miss the old days too.
W i usually listen to this every couple months. I still have the game and memory saved of me and my brother i picked off at his stamps to end up getting the devil parts. I'll never forget those moments in my childhood.
I only got the devil parts a few years ago, I could never do the Volcano Course in the time limit. Crazy fun to mess around with though, and one of the most satisfying games to complete, after starting it well over a decade and a half ago. For me, not even Skyrim can match that feeling of achievement, and that has voiced characters. 🤣
That’s basically what I did, I had to memorise every corner of that course (and still try for hours) to get the final stamp. I then copied the save file to a second memory card and used a loophole in 2 player mode to duplicate the devil parts to get them for my teammates as well.
@@McPlayer8t yeah i saw a video of selling parts to another player in a different version of the game so it was a bit odd that you could do that because it was the same game just an entirely different screen so i was like :0
Yeah, I figured it wasn’t really cheating seeing as I had already completed the entire game, and I was honestly just curious if it would work, more than actually wanting them for my teammates. That’s what I do in games after I finish them, I love testing things, trying to find the little oddities the developers may have missed. I once beat the President before getting the garage, just to see if anything changed (it didn’t), I thought, without the Q’s Factory in My City, Endurance Run technically doesn’t exist yet, but you still race the President there anyway. By the way, do you have a favourite race track? Just curious.
This game and the og Spyro games are games I have a yearly play through. With that's it's more like a save I come back to and play for a week each year.
I used to love this game, especially all the little races and stuff, I think they should remake this, keep it's cartoony looks, and put it on ps4/5 and xbox 1/ series 2

Oh, man. The old days without CoD and online multiplayer features, dem nostalgia. Do you remember when you could play without any high pitched voice yelling at you becuase you found out that he was in the corner shooting at you? Yeah, I miss the old days too.
second to last is best I mean. last is still awesome though. All these songs have a mysterious nostalgic feel to them.
So nostalgic my man..
I still drive listening to this soundtrack, except it's now a real truck.
Music hits differently after the sun sets in the game and you're still driving through the night. Almost sounds like a dream after 53:33
hehe one of my favorite games when i was younger
thanks for uploading
Who else just came from Tik Tok to find out this music was copyrighted
They outdid themselves with the soundtrack. It’s insanely good
W i usually listen to this every couple months.
@@McPlayer8t hey man just rinse and repeat the course and its easy to learn im gonna play it tonight since its the games release date today❤
I missed this game soon much that I had to download a ps2 emulator and I finally played this again! It was the first time I played it in 10 years!
So*
road trip adventure HD remake plz
This game and the og Spyro games are games I have a yearly play through. With that's it's more like a save I come back to and play for a week each year.
I used to love this game, especially all the little races and stuff, I think they should remake this, keep it's cartoony looks, and put it on ps4/5 and xbox 1/ series 2
Who remembers struggling to jump onto the island the teleported you to cloud city
Lmao yup 😆
@@LFX27 same here but at that time i didn’t know cloud hill was in the sky this was around 20 years ago at that time
Ohh yes. My sister was the one to figure it out first in our house, you need big tyres and propellers, they make it so much easier.
15:30 is perfection
6:27 is so underrated
Didn't expect to see you here.
There's a song in the soundtrack with some BITCHIN keytar chords.
This should be sampled for like songs
This is great
Can you imagine a 2022 remaster of this game? How epic would that be
Peach town, white mountain, Fuji city, MY CITY... Anyone remembers??
DJmisterpeluca cloud hill, papaya island, chestnut canyon, mushroom road, sandpolis, I remember all the old places 😂
@@nathanwilson2034 y'all forgot my garage :)
@@Zinul such fond memories
I put hundreds of hours into this game and never actually completed all the stamps to get my beloved devil parts. It will haunt me til the day I die🕊
annual comment to say this game slaps unbelievably hard
