    When you return home for a holiday and before seeing them, you hear that one voice that brings you comfort and a peacefulness settles deep within . . . so your voice did for me as I tuned into the coverage on 15 & 16 the past few days. Thank you for your insights and coverage of my 2nd most favorite golfing event.
    I’m hoping we have a video, soon coming, of you playing a few holes in Augusta . . . an old friend can hope, can’t he?!!! Thanks again for sharing your time and gifts with us.

    Fun short game challenge there, Iona. Love that blooper at the very end!
    Change the grip, change the club, change the ball position, open the clubface, close the clubface - my short game gets in a funk now and then - having options in the locker built on solid practice makes all the difference for me.

    Go highest loft you can on a downslope. Learned something today😀. Have only just put a 60 in the bag for the first time so will definitely try this drill. Thanks. Also didn’t know putting it back for a 60 will make it go higher👍. I’m such a noob with this club🤷‍♂️

    👏 Fantastic video, Iona! Really appreciated the detailed breakdown of each chip shot, especially the strategies for dealing with tricky lies like the sandy area near the bunker. It's great to see how adjusting techniques can drastically improve outcomes. I was all excited when I saw you were going to hit 5 different shots!
    I wondered what they would be!
    I use 3 different basic chip shots based on the height and roll I want to use!
    From forward in the stance.. middle and back!
    Then I adjust between those three positions to adjust my shots to get the shot I'm looking for!
    I also vary shaft angle to adjust the face... and the use of my wrists to control the spins!
    While you played from 5 different locations.... I might do the same thing but I would hit three different types of shots from each position!
    I use my sand wedge for all these shots because it's easier to adjust... because the club weight is always the same... and so is the distance from my hands to the ball!
    And when possible I want to use the least height on the shot .. because it's more efficient for distance and getting the ball on line!
    And I would also explain what makes shots go bad😮😮!

    Circle of hope would need to be much smaller for me to think there is a chance of making the putt but MUCH bigger for a realistic chance of ending up in it after a my shot.

    I’ve recently picked up golf as a beginner and chipping is so hard 😂 I always catch it thin and send it shooting over the green or duff the grass short of the ball

    • @johnbuethe3277
      @johnbuethe3277 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Chipping around the green is in my opinion the most fun because it allows you to be creative!
      Another good thing is that you can practice at home if you have a grassy area!
      First thing that could help you is that you always want to be swinging down into the ball... let the club face develop the lift to the ball!
      Don't try and help the lift by swinging up at the ball...it never works!
      I'd suggest using a sand wedge 56° if you have one!
      Try different shots using different positions of ball placement from front to back of the stance!
      Also try different shaft angles to adjust the angle of the club face!
      Oh yeah.. don't swing too hard.. but try and always be accelerating through the ball!
      This should help you get started!

    • @johnbuethe3277
      @johnbuethe3277 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I also love that sound!
      When I got my first pitching wedge.. I started practicing in the back yard!
      6:52
      I'd use 5 or 6 balls and just started hitting short shots!
      I'll never forget how it would take me around 5 shots before I would get that proper contact to make that sound!
      Taught me how important practice is!

    • @huttboynz4422
      @huttboynz4422 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@johnbuethe3277 I hear ya! I now have a net and mat at home (2 months ago I got it) and it takes me about 5 or so shots before I start hitting them with the ‘crisp’ sounding shot. That and compressing full swing irons is what makes golf so much fun! I’m a little OCD, slightly obsessed with my swing and strike!!

    I'm very new to golf and really enjoy your videos. I do get confused though when the loft of the club is mentioned but I don't know what club that relates to? what number iron or to use a pitching wedge? and I thought sand wedges were used for the bunkers only? As I said I'm a novice so any help would be great! thanks Iona
