You should solder the two cans together. For a waveguide, it is very important to have electrical continuity between waveguide sections.

well ,u tried to build with what available, its good ,and we all love long coax for good placement (like mounting antenna on roof) ,but just to point out , the 3m coax cable will make u lose some valuable signal strength even with good quality coax cable, ideally the total length between the antenna and wifi adapter should be less than 10 cm i strongly advise u to hook the wifi adapter directly to the cantenna ,i believe it will have some noticeable improvement for ur wifi signal :)

@@1BarConnectionHello- I want to boost the WiFi Hotspot signal that is outside of my shop. I have to keep the garage door closed and when I do close it; my signal strength is much weaker. Can I do the same things as what you’ve done but connect the cantenna to a wireless router SMA antenna? I use my phone and a desktop that has WiFi and Ethernet capability.

Thanks! But I don't understand something. According to your calculation, when the diameter is 8 cm, the probe of the antenna should be a quarter of the wavelength (which is also a calculation that I do not understand because a quarter of the wavelength of C/f is 12.5 cm), so it is 7 cm from the closed part , and from there you need 21 cm to the part up to the open part, so that in total it is 28 cm, therefore in minute number 6 in the chart, you cut the box by a few cm. But after that, you see that there are 3 boxes connected with glue, so I didn't understand, shouldn't the total length be a maximum of 28 cm? I would appreciate an explanation.

I would like to use two of these inside of hot air heating ducts to route WiFi signals through my house, using ducts as a waveguide.

Thar would be an interesting project. :)

See the chart at 2:47 if your ducts are larger than 10cm, they won't work as a waveguide. You may bounce signals around inside, but I think you'd probably get better results if you just put a waveguide antenna at the remote points and aim them at the WiFi router.

Is any router software configuration required if you connect the cantenna to a wireless router’s antenna port?

It's big mistake to put the screw inside the can ..it's like another driven elements.also longer can gives more performant ,thé calculateur gives the minimum measurements.... Also to get more gain. Make thick wire for the driven elements...good luck..bro

Thanks for This and How do we choose the right diameter for the box, because not all sizes are available my friend, also in calculator web page When we put the diameter on the length of the box, it is very short, how do we deal with this?

Have you done any kind of update to this antenna since the video?
The link for the USB WiFi Dual Band Adapter no longer works can you recommend any other?

Can I use it to emit Microwaves of Frequency of
    1-3 GHz of Carrier Wave
and 0.1 - 8 Hz of Signal Wave combined. ????

Also the optimal diameter for WiFi is 75 to 95 millimetre ..I think your can is out ?!!

far better is using stainless steel, 85mm diameter, element placed 75 mm from rear of a 30mm long can.
