This is so easy, I can't believe I ever called the maintenance to do something that is SO EASY to do. I do not mind paying a little money to replace the lever and handle. It saves me time and worry about having anyone in my apartment when I am not there over something so easy. Great video.
Thank you for not cutting out the arm adjustments. Many only show the finished work making it look so easy, and then you get in there and get frustrated because it doesn't work completely on the first try. Very good, realistic video.
Thank you!!! I used your information and made this repair all by myself. Home Depot had all of the parts and I did not need any tools. You are a life saver... thank you again.
Thank you so much. Bought a new one at Home Depot for about $7.50. Came home opened up your video and replaced the old one with the new one and was done in under 10 minutes. Thanks again for the video.
That toilet tank looks pristine. I opened mine after a few years today and it looks like black plague from medieval times. Changing this flush lever as we speak. So good when you can diy this stuff Been doing similar for years. Imagine if you had to call a handyman, plumber or electrician for every little easy fix. Saves you a ton with know how.
If your toilet tank is black, it's probably full of black mold. That stuff releases poisonous spores, and although you're probably fine, it has killed people before. Take a spray bottle, fill it with warm water, and shake a bunch of borax in there. Once the borax is good and dissolved, spray it everywhere the mold touches. Maybe put some borax in the toilet tank too so it'll dissolve and sanitize your tank as it fills. That'll kill the mold. Once it dries out you can just wipe it off.
Thank you! I was so happy you told us about the reverse direction for the nut! The factory direction did not! And no information about how to bend the arm. Appreciate your help very much!
Thank you so much. My husband always took care of these type of things. His been sick and your video saved me another trip to the store. I was afraid to bend the long handle I thought I might break it until I saw you bend it. Thank you have a great day.
thanks for this. you saved me an embarrassing return to the store because the arm was too straight to fit inside my curved tank. i didn't know i could actually bend the rod to fit until you told me. (i was afraid it would break...) 👍
So helpful. I think it actually made your video better things not working right away. You showed how to make adjustments. I will give this a go. I probably will regret spending the last month flushing via opening the top and pulling up the arm haha.
Thanks so much for your tutorial. My husband said it is difficult to fix, so I will go tomorrow to by a new handle to replace for our hallway bathroom. 😊
Got woken up early Sunday by my wife getting ready for work and was told the toilet wasn’t flushing found this video, thanks dude saved me a call to my landlord
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on how to change a toilet flush lever. I just managed to change out the broken flush lever in my parents' bathroom. And thanks for saving me $50+ from having to call a plumber! Cheers!
Dude! Great tip about being able to bend the rod down; that's what fixed my problem. No other video of this nature that I watched mentioned that. I was seriously going to return this lever and buy a different one that I thought would work.
thank you for what you said early in the video ... REVERSE THREAD NUT .... I was struggling installing my new lever until you pointed that out! THANK YOU!
Thank you very, very much. I'm a single, girly-girl and I had ABSOLUTELY NO-IDEA what I was going to do! You did a great job explaining how to replace and also showed how to "MacGyver" (LOL!) if need be! I greatly appreciate your help! Have a blessed day! 🌷
thanks this video helped a lot.Was trying to get the nut screwed on the back of the toilet handle saw how you did it and got it fixed in just a few seconds
Thank you so much for this super understandable straightforward explanation! If I'd have known this video was out there, i mighta realized i could have easily fixed this a couple months ago instead of putting it off 😭
Nice video brother you solved my problem.... I didn’t know flush Handel also comes with metal rod which makes easier to bend away from the tank but with plastic u can’t do that
Thank you sir. Should've watched this video before I went out and bought one. I have a curved tank also and the plastic rod was hitting the tank, I tried bending the rod and it just snapped. I'll go buy the one that you can bend.
I got a nice chrome plated metal handle one, with a round rod that flattens out at the end, and I had to bend it down about 30° to keep it from ckinking on the underside of the lid. There is a rubbery square inside the handle that presses into the square opening of the toilet tank, although it is a little mushy. However there is a lot play in the handle and rod where it goes through the tube with threads on it, and there's a strange little circular ring just sitting loose at the end of the threads that the nut goes over. Tightening the nut does not help the looseness. It flushes fine and springs back, but I don't know that it should be so wobbly.
Interesting, I'm not sure I've seen a toilet tank with Styrofoam in it before. Is that insulation to prevent sweating in humid climates, or to decrease the gallons per flush?
@@HouseImprovements ^ bingo. never used to have this problem when the tanks had thicker ceramic. now everything is thinned out, thus bc of the heat transfer it sweats. so annoying
Mine just broke as well. Thanks for this. The issue with it now is that the handle will not pop up like it used to.I have to wait for the float for it to come back. Maybe I need to bend the handle some as well.
Just replaced my handle/lever, but the new handle doesn't sit horizontal to the outside of the tank like the old one did. This one is angled up, and there doesn't seem to be a way to adjust it. Any idea how to straighten it out? Thanks!
thank you im a 15 year old and had no clue how to do this and my dad never taught me anything so this really helped
Good for you young man! I am 63 years old and I needed to watch also.

Thank you from a person who did not want to call a handyman during the stay home order of 2020. This was so easy! Thanks! ♥️
Glad it helped!
Really why waste money
@@corrinedirks1601 in some cases honestly it's worth just doing it yourself instead of the pain of scheduling maintenance

I'm in the same scenario. Like you I prefer to be there and hence have to wait around for maintenance.

proud of myself thanks to you! 🫡 God bless!
I wanted to add that the 'bend trick' appears to only work with metal rods. Plastic rods (like the one I purchased) won't bend, they'll just snap.

Are most tank holes really square?!
This was a whole lot better than the hyper active 20 year old that had no patience. bad vibes and chemistry radiants from him. This guy is great!!
Shouldn't you shut off the water while you're working on the toilet? Other than that, I did mine the same as in this video, and it worked.
For doing this particular repair its not necessary but you can
How would I go about it if the chain part doesn't have a hook like yours?
Thank you
Welcome!
Thanks.. Great vid...you are a star!
