Nice demonstration! I wish the top were fully manual (and designed that way to be easier to perform) so we didn't have to deal with replacing leaking hydraulic cylinders.
Hello. Great video on the manual operation of the top up and down. Here is a twist. The top is up and on lock position for travel. Sadly, the latch on the trunk is not operating properly so I cannot get into the trunk to unlock the mechanism in the trunk. Any suggestions?
This series is great, thanks very much! I'm working on a crossfire now that had water get into the car and completely disable the door locks and convertible top. The trunk was stuck closed too. I had to grab the emergency release cable through one of the license plate light holes to get the trunk to open.
Glad you were able to unlock the trunk. Hopefully, all electronics in the trunk are salvageable. If the pump drowned in water, then it can be rebuilt. Ozone generators are excellent at fighting mildew once the trunk has been dried out.
It looks like I'll be having Top Hydraulics rebuild my hydraulic cylinders. I've watched all of the videos and just KNOW that I'd be dropping the clips that I'll need. Is there any way I can buy extras of all of the clips needed to complete the job?
Thanks for asking. The clips on the cylinder mounting pins are easily replaced with plain, metric e-clips if you should lose some. You could buy a metric e-clip assortment from Amazon or we would be happy to add some extra e-clips to your order free of charge. The hydraulic line clips are a bit more precious and we currently provide one free of charge per order, or charge $5/ea for additional ones. For completeness, the Mercedes part number for the flat line clips is A2098050184 and the part number for the u-shaped line clips on the locking cylinders is A1298050244.
My tonneau cover won't open. Manually or mechanically. The wrench moves but the top won't release. Is there a way to get it open from the trunk to see what needs to be repaired?
That’s most unusual. Are you sure that you are turning the wrench far enough? Be sure to turn off the ignition. If you are turning the wrench as far as it can go and if there really is some obstacle preventing the lock from opening all the way, then take the hoses off the cylinder first and try again, in case fluid flow is blocked. If that still doesn’t help, then unbolt the lock from the chassis.
@@TopHydraulics yes I am turning it all the way with the ignition off. I have had no troubles until now. I'll try taking off the hydraulics and or the latch. Thank you!
@@upinstylesalon Please keep us posted. You mentioned in another post that you have been manually opening and closing the top frequently because the cylinders are leaking. Manual top actuation is supposed to be an emergency measure and the locks were not designed for daily manual use. Hopefully, it's something simple, please keep us posted with what you find.
@TopHydraulics definitely not daily. I have only had the car for a month. Only 3 times. I have a cylinder that is leaking pretty bad. Not going to be a fun job removing it and sending it to you without getting this top open. I have a guy in the crossfire fb group that has been very helpful. He made a video for me so I can see how it all works. Hopefully I can get it open and get that cylinder out.
I forgot to lock the tunnel cover after I brought the top out of the truck before I put the bow down and latch it so now the rear bow is not all the way down and the truck want open either I press the botton and noting can you help me please?
There is an electric lock in the trunk lid that gets engaged when the top gets moved using the hydraulic system. You can access this lock through the license plate light and unlock it. There is a video on youtube on how it's done (we did not make the video) - please search for it.

I made my own video of how to do this for the Crossfire Community, but Klaus, you did SUCH a better job!
By chance is that your crossfire?
Your videos are very informative for me as a first time crossfire owner. Glad to know your available for rebuilds .

TADAAA! Fantastic! Thank you.
Awesome! Thank you very much
Thank you very much!!!
what if it feels stuck when you try to pull the top? is it because of the hydraulic fluid?
