    The title changed. In response to the original title, yes, you can inherit a Steam account but you have to do it off the record. Transfer it to a secondary emailaddress (newly made) and then share it with somebody before you die agreeing that that person can start using it when you die, in that case the other person can take over that account.

      It should be ok. It can handle my switch joycon separately or as a single. And it connects to several console style controllers very easily as well, though I do not know the upper limit of how many at one time but two or three should be fine I think. More like he refuses to be negative in general, barring in rare exceptions following cautiously the majority consent.
      In general, he avoids being to positive either, trying to stay cautiously optimistic, which isn't inherently bad (too much doom and gloom is not good for your health), but at times it feels like he either has utterly nothing to add and has to stall, or tries to preempt anyone getting mad at him having an opinion, to an offensive extend.
      Although my issue is really with Garry's comment, his blog post is just completely disrespectful and out of touch. Yes, Nintendo coming around and being the fun police is not a surprise, you having to play nice with them is neither.
      His paragraph of "Maybe because of streaming and Steam this generation grew up without real piracy. Maybe they don't understand all that because they can post music and videos in their memes on tiktok and no-one gets annoyed'"... like bro, your platform was this for way over a decade, a treasure trove, third party rights and straight up assets dammed. A lot of the people grieving over this loose are not the tiktok generation, they just watched their childhood/teenage memories wiped off the face of the earth. It isn't piracy, it is the fact that Gary can just put that old Disc into a console and experience his childhood game a new, while if you were playing GMod in the 2010s you will never be able to do the same again, part of the content is just gone. That comment about piracy is in general strange, back in the day companies combated piracy by trying weird hardware DRM that would inevitably be overcome and they were blind to fan projects (because internet, new frontier and all that, as long as you didn't sell it no one knew it existed), today piracy is clamped down hard and rights enforced with an iron fist!
      It is the end of an Era, which would have been significantly more fitting words then acting like a boomer complaining down to the youngings how they can't understand, when you are the one who refuses to understand their point of view.

    • @cannaroe1213
      @cannaroe1213 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dergeneralfluff The end of an era all right! Nothing sucks worse than pushing a jingle or a video to millions of people thousands of times, and then when they start repeating it say no, you can't do that, it's mine. Sorry, IP/patent law was always insane, only one person can have an idea? And its never an individual holding the patents, it's always a company.

    • @gardiner_bryant
      @gardiner_bryant  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @dergeneralfluff people get mad at me for having too strong of an opinion, having no discernable opinion, and injecting my opinion in a news video when journalism must be "objective." There's literally no way to win.
      Unlike Gary, I get why people are upset that Nintendo did this. Nintendo sucks. They let this go on for over a decade, and then decided to bring DMCA requests now.
      But Gary is right. If a company lets the community use their IP for free, that makes them a "cool" company. If they don't, it's just par for the course.
      As far as Steam not letting people will their Steam accounts, I wasn't saying it's right. I'm just saying "it's been in the subscriber agreement since the beginning" so I am not sure why people are surprised by this. I believe Valve should change this policy. And if they don't, the laws should be changed and they should be forced to respect estates and bequests for things like Steam accounts. I guess I should've articulated that in the video.

    • @dergeneralfluff
      @dergeneralfluff 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gardiner_bryant Yeah, besides the presentation being a tight robe to balance, idk, something just felt off, reconsidering myself I am not so sure anymore. Was it tone of voice in which you read things, but this is no different to the past...
      And it is working for you, so I think I just accidentally one guyed you, I am sorry, there is probably nothing wrong with you.
      Perhaps I got to carried away with being angry at the Garry comment. And yeah, the Steam drama is just someone on ResetEra picking a fight to create a nothing burger (which is why I omitted it), very much your take on the matter too.
      I shall resume lurking then again, because while I don't watch you religiously, I do come around from time to time, and you do provide good insides (like your controller video was really interesting)

      @gardiner_bryant  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Why?

    • @OLegndz
      @OLegndz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gardiner_bryant anticheat makes a lot of games I would like to play on steamdeck unplayable. Most of the Drivers are out there but not enough to be truly fully operational.
      I do use wine and qt tricks for some games on Linux which works great.
      But for Fortnite, Destiny, XDefiant and other titles I find myself wanting to play them on the go and cloud gaming is just a mess to me with latency, artifacting, reduced resolution quality.
      It’s not steams fault that devs want to patch out games from the steamdeck but I do believe that having an option to boot to windows is a huge game changer for many and might even attract more buyers to the steamdeck that possibly wouldn’t have existed due to the ROG Ally and Ally X.
      I love my Deck I just wish I was able to access games with Anti-Cheats that don’t like Linux.
      I’d rather play low quality natively than play on a cloud.

    Some achievements do not pop up when you're playing offline and will not appear even when you synch back to the cloud.
    I sure do hope they do something about this.
    Finished Bastion and did not get the appropriate achievements.
    I'm in the headsoace that older titles might have this problem which is huge considering this device is maeketed by many as a backlog killer.

    if we get new valve HW i would bet its either a VR headset or a steam controller v2 a console would be neat however i feel like the age of the home console is dying and the deck is like the next evolution of steam first it was a simple game launcher and then it was a storefront/community hub and now its becoming physical as a handheld next evolution would be sentience sooo that might get interesting maybe why gabe is so interested in the brain interface technology hmmmm lol but no i dont think they will mess with the already saturated market of console gaming when they can try to just sell those same gamers a handheld pc. A person with a PS5 and a PC might buy a handheld but will def not care about a home console steam machine.

    Steam seems to slowly be filling in the gaps of missing features a console would normally have, but I think one big thing they are kinda missing (on SteamOS) is driver parity with Windows AMD features. Stuff like AMD's AFMF (and probably a few other things) are missing on SteamOS. If they can work something out in that area, I think they would be in pretty good shape for a new Steam console.

      @gardiner_bryant  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      The less tech-savvy people are the reason I care so much about the Verified program. For the Steam Deck to be a success and have broad market appeal, console gamers need to instantly understand what games will work with the Deck.

      @@gardiner_bryant I do get that. But I also did kinda wish that, at the same time, they also "acknowledged" SOMEWHERE SOMEHOW that despite those statusses, pretty much anything can be run on the Steam Deck if you DO put in the effort to learn. Because on the flipside: There are also many people who MIGHT be very much willing to learn that, and might even be moreso interested in the Steam Deck, if they knew that in practice, pretty much everything CAN run on there. I've just seen so many people who're like "I'd get a Steam Deck, but I can't play it because [example:] Genshin Impact doesn't run on it. Lemme get [insert other Handheld PC] instead".
      When there's really more than one way to get Genshin Impact working on the Deck, none of them requiring a degree in Computer Engineering. Same for many other games.
      I absolutely think it's fair to cheer for the Verification Program to go on and improve. But I also think that the Steam Decks capabilities beyond verified games shouldn't be completely "muted" in favor of simplifying things for the most casual of users. Don't wanna imply you're doing that, but I do feel like there should in general be more awareness of the Deck's actual capabilities. Because there are always PLENTY of people inbetween "absolute casual" and "tech wizard", that might get more of their Deck, or some people that might be more drawn to it, if games that maybe require an alternative Launcher, a single line command tweak or heck even a Windows install (which way too many people treat like witchcraft or the worst idea ever, when it really isn't either) weren't deemed as "unplayable" for the masses.

      The limitation is on the power-on-sleep of the BT device, that is designed to cut power on suspension.
      It is possible to wake up over wireless if you use a BT dongle (or controller receiver) of you manually activate it's bus address* and leave the dock connected (works with JSAUX and have personally tested with a DS4 synced on a BT dongle and a Steam Controllers, and both worked great at least until you power off/disconnect from the outlet your dock).
