First ever Bagpipe comparison to explain a kinetic rope. I love the expression when you realize it while it's happening. Priceless. Keep up the good content. Creeping up on the 100k.
Your recoveries are great, that is why we watch, but I really enjoy how you show us the surrounding scenery. I grew up in Yakima, WA and have lived in Southern California for over 30 years and watching your videos is like taking a trip back home. I have many fond memories of traveling around and through central and Eastern Oregon. Thanks for sharing your part of the world with us.
@Mike Devos Agreed we left before the roundabouts in Bend, but yes where he goes a lot is so familiar and still undisturbed, When we were in Yakima heading to Spokane, The wine growing is so big over there now, All the way up past Omak
One thing I really like about your approach to these recoveries is that you share your knowledge and what the client (and us viewers) can get the same equipment.
Brrr I just got a cold chill seeing that much snow again this winter. Ground is bare here on the coast of Maine this morning! Yet who is still having as much fun as Casey!!!! Thank you for your time and talent. This channel just never gets old.
Casey, not only are your videos educational, interesting and entertaining; we also get the additional benefit of the gorgeous scenery that you live in. Thank you for your time, talent and personality! Take care, stay safe. Oh, awesome sunglasses!
Excellent tips when using a truck wench! I also like the back-up battery power pack! To help boost the electrical system and relieve the wear and tear on your truck battery!
Goooooood morning Casey , you make it look easy because you know what you're doing! I am sure that Riley won't mind you using her sunglasses , hey there is not anything wrong with using what is available! LOL......... Oh the Silverado , to reset the oil change light, turn the key to the run position "engine off" then press the gas pedal to the floor and let back up, do that three times. Then turn the key off and go ahead and start the vehicle, your oil change light has now been reset! Have a great day everybody and thumbs UP to Casey!
Nice The one and only snow rescue/recovery I did was on old McKenzie Pass back in 81; rear winch to couple of trees and front winch pulling snowmobiles up a 20’ drop off - never again My bones still ache when I think about it 😳
Nice recovery, Casey. I saw you passing through Prineville last weekend and wondered what you were up to. I know exactly where you were. That's a great area for exploring and camping.
I will probably never get to see your neck of the woods in person, but you have taken me on many adventures with you and shown me a lot of beautiful country. Thank you.
Yankum Ropes & Winch -- a must (and winning combination) if you're not in town!!! (Remember when Matt's Off Road Recovery didn't use a winch?? He figured it out!!) Another WINNER Casey!!! Stay FROSTY.... Keep your head on a swivel... Safe travels friend❤️❤️
Almost opening up the old debate whether it’s best to criss-cross winch line onto the drum, or to lay it neatly side-by-side. I’ve done heavy pulls when spooled neatly and I’ve had the line dig deep into the spiraled bundle. It can make for difficulties, but I still prefer it to the criss-cross method, which looks so untidy. I’ve also snapped the flange casings on a winch when not paying attention to the line bunching on one end of the drum (it was a cheeks-clenching moment of emergency🥴). Eventually, it forces and bends the flange tie-bars away from the drum then the castings snap. Great video as usual Casey, and thanks for the beautiful views. Good therapy for the sheep who’ve been conned by the global warming scam. ❤️🇷🇴👍🏻
So basically always practice safety stay out of the triangle of death and be sensible about what your doing. Seeing so many of those badlands winches performing really really well and as always loved the vid
Mitchell Oregon brings back memories We lived in John Day 1979-1983. Many drives from there back to the Willamette Valley. The scariest drive for me in winter was over the Ochoco's. Coming back from Bend one night had to chain up. Stopped in Mitchell and used a pay phone to call and let my husband know I would be late. I still don't like driving in snow but love seeing your videos.
If you're worried about draw with your winch, there are some good options for high output alternators out there. Brand X Electrical makes good custom units. My go-to is Mechman for offroad stuff. Upgraded the alternator in a CJ-5 crawler recently from the stock 70 amp to a 200 amp and the winch capabilities are night and day.
I worked on tugboats for many years and any line that breaks under stress, whether it’s cable or rope, can severely injure a person. Many deaths have been attributed to breaking lines. Never get in line with a stressed line.
I pulled apart my 17K synthetic winch rope last summer in Hot Springs ORV. That rope sling shotted up the trail about 30 feet past the anchor. I bet it would have drawn blood if it hit you. Still safer than steel cable tho.
Good to see snow in the Ochoco country! According to Snotel, it's up to somewhere around 100% of normal snowpack now. That's good news, for the ranch and for camping.
Another great video Casey!! Thanks for all you do and thank you for explaining why you do certain things, why you hook the way you do. That will help many people that aren't familiar with recovery situations. And that was great drone footage at the end, absolutely beautiful.
Casey, no need to explain the glasses. Just rock them like a fashionista and see how many offroad dudes follow the lead and finally become as cool as you. Just like the track Jeep, you are a trend setter. Great info on the winch. As always, enjoyed the video.
I thank you for such a beautiful scenery, I knew that the track jeep would get it out I been hearing good things about that apex winch and I'm going to get one as soon as I can thanks for taking me along for the ride Casey you never disappoint. God bless you and your family and as always be safe 👍
I like your explanations of how and why you do things. When you are explaining things I already know about you are generally spot on. That gives me confidence that when you get to something I didn't already know, you are probably right about those topics as well.
That Was A Really Slick Pull Out,& Using Matt's Recovery Rope, Made All The Difference in The World With That Content Pulling Like That, So The More You See Them Synthetic Ropes in Use The More You See There Worth, There Amazing
Let’s go!!! Great job Casey. Nice work with the camera Zack. More beautiful scenery. I just got myself a new winch in the past two weeks. So good to see people enjoying life.
i remember when harbor freight first opened they had the cheapest of cheap stuff. but over the years they have got so much better even their tools. i dont have one of their winches because i have a new 13000 pound in my garage i have never hooked up. mostly because i'm 3 days older than dirt and dont go mudding anymore. but if i ever need one i wouldn't be scared to get one. from what i have seen they work great. and your videos show that also.
Really appreciate how you always push safety in your videos and explain why it’s important to act that way, or the consequences of not doing so. Keep up the good work.
how funny you both wore the same sweatshirt! what a great rescue and thank you for explaining the efficiency of having used the MORR kinetic strap in junction with the winch line. Glad that truck did not tip when it slid off the road. That valley is so beautiful thank you for sharing the drone footage at the end. Definitely a late snow winter for the PAC NW and glad you got another rescue in.
Good advice about the staying clear of even synthetic line.. it does break.. I was in Navy we had it break multiple times in one port.. no injuries tho unlike the last ship I left, A sailor got his leg cut off.
Nice recovery. You killed the pink sunglasses. Your daughter might get a kick out of seeing her big, tough, can't do anything wrong, Dad, wearing her glasses. LOL
Loving the content as always, love you using and explaining more on the Matt's rope. Love your narratives as always.. it's been a pleasure Watching you.. thanks 😊
That’s great information about winches and loss of effectiveness as they layer. Thanks for a great ride in beautiful country! Oh and it takes a real man to sport those shades! 😉

It's not often that you are able to interject bagpipes into the conversation🤣😂🙃
And just saying that it's like a big rubber band is boring!!
Casey, YOU ROCK!!
Awesome rescue!👍😎 Thanks for the beautiful scenery too!😊 Keep up the great videos and stay safe out there!❤️🙏
That music just keeps getting better. Great video!

@Mike Devos that's a really interesting perspective. Thank you for your service 🇺🇸

@Mike Devos i lived in Prineville, then Bend until i got drafted and spent time in San Antonio getting trained

bagpipes, rhinestone sunglasses. Nothing but smiles watching today. Thank you sir.
Your daughter provides some excellent backup gear! Always beautiful scenery.
++ For the sunglasses
Great recovery and appreciate the discussion on the details of the pull. Like the bagpipe analogy
I feel like I learned more about how bagpipes worked then anything else 😂

Always Learning a Thing or Two From You Casey !
Many Thanks !
Thank you for the drone shot! So beautiful! Great job!
Nice job. Winter came back for more fun. I have my yankum rope. Now I need some soft shackles.
Wow, looks close to rolling over! I love to watch that track and winch system work, you make it all look so easy!
Thanks for the winch information.

That worked great 👍👍
Thanks for the video
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Learning all the time!
Watching you do these experienced recoveries is very impressive . The customers are in awe when the truck pops out of the ditch
Fantastic video.

that,s some great country you get to work in.thanks Casey for the video.
I noticed the glasses just before you mentioned them - cute :) haha GORGEOUS country you live in
Fun stuff to watch, Hi from Michigan.
If you're worried about draw with your winch, there are some good options for high output alternators out there. Brand X Electrical makes good custom units. My go-to is Mechman for offroad stuff. Nice of Ms. Riley to save your day! Beautiful scenery. You can now keep the snow, we are trying to switch over to spring here in Michigan…😎😎
I always enjoy your videos
I worked on tugboats for many years and any line that breaks under stress, whether it’s cable or rope, can severely injure a person. Many deaths have been attributed to breaking lines. Never get in line with a stressed line.
Technology has certainly changed with the advent of the kinetic energy rope. Definetly not like the old steel cable death traps.
Agree with your assessment. Mooring lines were always something to respect given the amount of energy and potential for equipment failure.
Had a surprise day off glad to find a fresh episode!
Great winch info.
I like how you get side tracked in the middle of an explanation to admire the scenery lol.
Thanks for the drone video. Probably like Casey the tour guide as much as Casey the recovery guy.
Great video

I enjoyed the show
Beautiful scenery!
nice shades!
Thx for the winch power lesson. I'd've thought just the opposite - that closer was better.
I thought the extra layers increased the lever arm in order to reach max pull. I agree for rough rule of thumb 10% per layer.
Good to see snow in the Ochoco country! According to Snotel, it's up to somewhere around 100% of normal snowpack now. That's good news, for the ranch and for camping.
I’m going to miss the snow recoveries when summer happens
Right on Casey thank you for that educational video I never knew that about winches but it makes total sense
So love the PNW !
Another great video Casey!! Thanks for all you do and thank you for explaining why you do certain things, why you hook the way you do. That will help many people that aren't familiar with recovery situations. And that was great drone footage at the end, absolutely beautiful.
Thanks for the explanation of using the yankem rope with the winch!

Thank you for the clear practical advice. Keep Safe.
I have also worn my daughter's sunglasses when I needed them. Props to you for putting it on camera.

Great job on the recovery !! That guy is really lucky he didn't roll his truck. Really beautiful country too!
Loving the blend of recovery and the scenery of your location! :-)
