I was there. Stanford was still basking in the glory of shutting down UO's unstoppable offense the year before, and after shutting them out through two quarters here, the roar at halftime (as Stanford's team ran off the field) just lifted the roof off the place. It was the loudest I've ever heard that stadium, almost qualitatively different. It was even shaking a little. Not kidding. Haven't heard it since, but then #5 vs #3 hasn't happened since, either.
