The problem with assist stats is that it depends on the ability of the finisher you are passing to. And for goal stats it depends on the quality of the team feeding you.

Modric is great, but for all of those that are pointing out that Modric is playing at high level at age of 37, they all forgot that Xavi and Iniesta were totaly developed midfielders at age of 20, while Modric was limited by playing at Bosnian League and later at Dinamo Zagreb. That is no enviroment to fully develop any talent. Even in his time at Tottenham he had poor of the ball movement and his decision making was not so quick and good. He also took some time when coming to Madrid to make his mark, hell, even called among the worst Madrid transfers after the first season. It would be beter to show pass acuracy, passes into the final third, through passes, progresive caries of the ball, key passes, even sucesfull dribles/tackles/interceptions have more sense than goals. Same goes for strikers. You put goals and assists only, but very important information for any ofansive player is number of chances created and number of big chances created. Big chance is basicaly same as assist with only diference that you count assist when it ends with a goal and you call it big chance when its mised. Also when talking about strikers, we want to see number of shoots taken for a goal (conversion of chances) not only number of goals per 90 minutes.

For me Xavi and Iniesta are legends but look team they had while controlling midfield, Modrić this year controlled midfield solo for Real Madrid and croatia.
Still Modrić carried Croatia to finals and he had excellent perfomance today against France.
And what is best he had one of best perfomance in ucl and he is now in top 10 in ballon dor and if they win league nations and get to quarter finals or semi finals he could get another ballon dor because Benzema is poorly playing for France

Modric is great, but for all of those that are pointing out that Modric is playing at high level at age of 37, they all forgot that Xavi and Iniesta were totaly developed midfielders at age of 20, while Modric was limited by playing at Bosnian League and later at Dinamo Zagreb. That is no enviroment to fully develop any talent. Even in his time at Tottenham he had poor of the ball movement and his decision making was not so quick and good. He also took some time when coming to Madrid to make his mark, hell, even called among the worst Madrid transfers after the first season. In my book Xavi and Iniesta are the best midfielders, Modric like i said is great, but who knows...if Xavi and Iniesta started in Croatia, they would propably be cast aside as to weak or to small, (that almost happened to Modric) and if Modric started at La Masia, he could be developed at much earlier age.
When modric retires , stays fotball that something is missing....

Dude, those are midfielders. Even if they never ever score a goal, they still can be world class. It would be beter to show pass acuracy, passes into the final third, through passes, progresive caries of the ball, key passes, even sucesfull dribles/tackles/interceptions have more sense than goals. Same goes for strikers. You put goals and assists only, but very important information for any ofansive player is number of chances created and number of big chances created. Big chance is basicaly same as assist with only diference that you count assist when it ends with a goal and you call it big chance when its mised. Also when talking about strikers, we want to see number of shoots taken for a goal (conversion of chances) not only number of goals per 90 minutes.
And how do you analize that?

iniesta retired from barcelona at 34 years old (with a low level) , xavi at 35 (lower level than iniesta), modric is 37 and still playing as starter for Real madrid, kroos is 32, and the same as modric, he is starter too. my personal opinion is that modric is the best. the only difference is messi. modric and kroos with messi would have been such a ecstasy of football. better than xavi and iniesta by far.
